What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185  My family would love this!  They like a little cookie with their icing.

Re: What's on your plate?

Omg ladies, I just found another licorice candy in my local store. The brand is the same, Fini....but these ones are called "gourmet" and the filling is lemon scented. I can't even explain how good these ones are. The licorice part is so good, it almost tastes like dark chocolate. And the lemon filling tastes like bergamot peel 🖤🍋😋🤤😍

Re: What's on your plate?

@Skunk12puzzola  That combo sounds like perfection!  What is it about the scent of bergamot that is so relaxing??

Re: What's on your plate?

Don't know, tbh @Ispend2much6 😂 but it's sooooo good. I also love it in black tea 🍋🤤

Re: What's on your plate?

At one time I had a bottle of bergamot olive oil. The aroma was incredible but I never figured out how to use it! @Skunk12puzzola

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 wait a second, I know how!! it's pretty common here to use those olive oils (+ lemon/bergamot aroma or rosemary olive oil) on raw fish, or on carpaccio (meat or fish cut in very thin layers)....

Re: What's on your plate?

@Skunk12puzzola  Oh, I never thought of using it for fish- thank you!  Looks like I have enough rosemary for anything... lol I think these plants are two years old.

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6   Rosemary lime water is wonderful for gut health;).  plus way more interesting than plain water!

also, you can boil rosemary and make a ‘tea’ to rinse your hair with and it acts as a hair growth stimulate similar to rogaine if you have thinning hair.

Re: What's on your plate?

@heartsmyface. Oh I like both ideas- thanks!!

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 wow!! it's so hot today, but you are making me want roasted potatoes with garlic + rosemary 🤤

Re: What's on your plate?

@Skunk12puzzola  And you may have just given me an idea for dinner!  Do you think rosemary and garlic roasted potatoes would work with a poached egg on top?

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 I just googled the combo because I wasn't sure of the answer. Actually yes!! I saw a few italian recipes with roasted potatoes, garlic, rosemary, melted cheese, eggs and a casserole! 😋

Re: What's on your plate?

@Skunk12puzzola. Thanks for looking that up!

Re: What's on your plate?

Wow! That has to be delicious @Skunk12puzzola!! Dark chocolate-ish flavor together with bergamot peel-ish flavor.... 😋😋😋😋😋😋

Re: What's on your plate?

@Saradestin I'm loving the "ish" parts that you have in your post. Because, yes, the flavors somehow taste exactly like dark chocolate and lime/bergamot peel.

Did everyone see that the FDA is saying that storing avocados under water in the fridge is potentially dangerous, due to possibility of bacterial contamination.

(We have really good results just refrigerating avocados that have just ripened, without submerging them.  We buy avocados at Costco that are not ripe when we bring them home. )

Re: What's on your plate?

@tsavorite  I did not know that; thanks for the warning!  I lived it out when I tried the submersion trick.  I pulled them out of a pitcher of water and they looked perfectly ripe, firm...until I cut one open and took a tiny taste!

Re: What's on your plate?

@tsavorite @Saradestin @itsfi do you ladies already know about the trick of the paper bag for making 🥑's ripe faster? it truly works!! you have to also put in the same bag a 🍌 or an 🍎 because these fruits produce ethylene, a gas that can make things ripe faster!!

Re: What's on your plate?

Thanks for the tip, @Skunk12puzzola !  Since we started buying avocados by the bag, we usually have ripe avocados in the fridge, ready to eat.  I don't usually have the problem of needing to ripen our avocados more quickly.  We are so spoiled now, thanks to Costco!

Re: What's on your plate?

I knew the trick @Skunk12puzzola , but thank you anyway! I just leave the avocados, or any fruit that I want to ripe fast, on top of the apples, but I don’t put them all together inside a paper bag, that will for sure speed up the process!

Re: What's on your plate?

Thank you for letting us know @tsavorite ! I just keep them in the refrigerator once they are ripe enough and I have never had any issues with them getting bad that way, so I never used the water trick
