What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

I think you would enjoy it, @SportyGirly125

Re: What's on your plate?

Wow, this looks fantastic, @eshoe!

Re: What's on your plate?

Awww thank you, @quspork! Sadly the remainder are still in ‘as is’ condition and are just being eaten as cookies😂

Re: What's on your plate?

Ooh looks great still @eshoe . My son is asking for this. We should try soon 😋

Re: What's on your plate?

It’s a fun project, @blackkitty2014. Any ideas on flavors you might try? I have matcha powder and might try that next time.

Re: What's on your plate?

I wanted to use the last of the season berries for a treat for my husband to take to work (and keep a few.)  I saw some beautiful raspberries and blueberries (the absolute best blueberries of the year are out now- if you see the ones from Peru, grab them!)

Berry cakelets.  From Smitten Kitchen but I can't remember the name of it.

@Ispend2much6 @lamster Omg your comments made my day.

Re: What's on your plate?

@SportyGirly125 @Ispend2much6 I wish I had the talent or patience to learn to do these fabulous recipes!!

Re: What's on your plate?

@lmaster  Rest assured, if you see me sharing a recipe/dish, it's easy to do.

Re: What's on your plate?

@SportyGirly125  @lmaster 's got a great sense of humor. 🙂

Re: What's on your plate?

Those look delicious, @Ispend2much6. Smitten Kitchen has some good recipes! Sally’s Baking Addiction is another good one.

Re: What's on your plate?

@eshoe. Thanks! Yes that is another excellent site! I made her best chocolate chip cookies twice. The first time they were so good and kept well the second time not. I never figured out what I did wrong. What's your favorite recipe of hers?

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 I made decent chocolate chip cookies for the first time ever a couple of weeks ago, from Joyfoodsunshine. I had always used a family recipe and no matter how I tweaked it, they never turned out. This recipe has brown sugar and lots of butter (2 sticks).

Her best scones are delicious. Grating the frozen butter is such a pain but the texture is consistently just right. Do you have a favorite of hers?

Re: What's on your plate?

@eshoe   I've only made her chocolate chip cookie recipe, I think.  Maybe an oatmeal cookie too.

Our very favorite cc cookie recipe is actually from Pret a Manger (UK sandwich shop.)  It's so easy too.  Using self-rising flour cuts out a few steps.

I'll have to check out the JoyFoodSunshine blog. 🙂

Pret's Chocolate Chunk cookie recipe

Ingredients - serves 8

110g unsalted butter

170g caster sugar- I actually use organic regular sugar because it adds a slight caramel taste

85g light brown sugar

1 whole egg

190g self-raising flour

3g salt

120g large dark chocolate buttons

1. Preheat the oven to 180oC. Melt the butter in a saucepan or microwave until just melted (but not hot).

2. Using a stand mixer or electric beaters, beat the butter with the caster and brown suagrs until well combined. Add the egg and beat on  low speed until just incorporated - 10-15 seconds or so. Don't overbeat as this will result in a firm dough.

3. Add the flour and salt. Mix until a smooth dough forms - again, be careful not to overmix.

4. Add the chocolate buttons to the dough and combine with your hands. For a good distribution of chocolate, don't be afraid to break up some of the buttons into pieces or chop them slightly before hand.

 5. Scoop out 8 balls of dough and place on a non-stick or lined baking tray.

6. Make sure there is plenty space between them as dough will spread out in the oven. Press them down lightly with your palm to flatten them out a little and bake for 10-12 minutes until the cookies look puffed up and golden.

7. Let the cookies cool on the pan for around 30 minutes as they will settle and sink into a dense, buttery cookie.

8. Best enjoyed warm (or place in an airtight container and eat within 3 days).

Re: What's on your plate?

“Eat within three days,” that is never a problem here, @Ispend2much6. I will try this recipe for my next chocolate chip fix!

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 This looks so yummy.

Re: What's on your plate?

@SportyGirly125. Unfortunately they are. 😉

Re: What's on your plate?

This looks so good @Ispend2much6 . I will need to look it up.

Re: What's on your plate?

@blackkitty2014   I've only not liked one of the recipes from that site!
