What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

Absolutely @blackkitty2014 me too! You been baking in our heat too?! Kind of crazy to do I realize. Prob shouldn’t have to conserve. 😕

Re: What's on your plate?

@Sunnysmom Thx god for AC. It’s so miserably hot where we’re at. We wouldn’t make it without AC. Luckily we have solar so we produce more than we consume. I justify my baking with no TV. We hardly watch TV anymore 😂🤣

Re: What's on your plate?

Same @blackkitty2014 so thankful for AC tho it’s first week we’ve even used it! Wish we had solar. Good for you. Can’t say same about tv tho 🙄😂I need my Netflix and Hulu! Lol.

Re: What's on your plate?

@Sunnysmom Plus, chocolate's full of antioxidants, so... super healthy!

I can't remember the last time I made zucchini bread, but now I want some. 🙂 Yours looks delicious!

Re: What's on your plate?

Me either @WinglessOne ! Plus I used half bittersweet so not too sweet and I really liked it that way. Def more antioxidants! 😉

Think recipe is by two peas and their pod. Simple ! Somehow feels less guilty than the cake?! Lol

Re: What's on your plate?

yum! this looks delicious!

Re: What's on your plate?

@Sunnysmom   It looks so moist!

Re: What's on your plate?

It is @Ispend2much6 ! It’s almost bouncy with the zucchini I think or something. Lol. Really delicious. Not that I would know... !

Re: What's on your plate?

@Sunnysmom this looks so good especially all the chocolate chips

Re: What's on your plate?

My fav part also @SportyGirly125 ! 💞

What's on your plate?

I have always been obsessed with balanced diets, understanding calorie counts, super foods, hydration - you name it despite being a terrible cook! Example: Breakfast - 1 egg + 2 egg whites scrambled with plain oatmeal w/cinnamon & (I know its not the best for you but) I packet of splenda & a fruit cup. Lunch - 1/2 a turkey sandwich on Orowheat Double Fiber bread (lettuce, tomato mustard & sometimes provolone cheese with a super food salad (you can buy bags premixed at the store - should have kale, shredded broccoli & shredded brussel sprouts) w/Bolthouse dressing (it is the best! low in fat & incalories - yogurt as a base in every flavor imaginable from ranch & blue cheese to cilantro avocado & salsa ranch!) Dinner: (For any of you who are not great cooks I HIGHLY suggest investing in a Ninja!! They are on infomercials but J got mine on Amazon!) Pressure cook chicken breast, pork chop, fish or beef with brown rice/quinoa for 2 minutes add vegetables (I go with brussel sprouts, brocolli, zucchini etc) and broil for 10 min. Your entire meal is super healthy, yummy & force once everything is done at the same time(I promise I do not work for Ninja but its a super simple cleanup too. I use it almost every night! LOL) Snack: usually a lower fat cheese like provolone with wheat thins, light salami & a fruit cup (the fruit is usually its own snack) Sometime dessert: Dryers makes incredible low fat slow churned ice cream in every flavor you can imagine! My faves are birthday cake & caramel delight but they have traditional flavors too like mint chip & rocky road. Just a healthy day of food coming from someone who doesn't cook but eats healthy! Oh & I used to ONLY DRINK DIET COKE ONLY! from 8th grade until I was 39.Now they have flavored (no artifical sweetner) zero-calorie bubbly water! There are tons of brands and hundreds of favorites. I stopped drinking diet coke THAT DAY! I havent had one since, I keep one around for one I eat ice cream...I crave it when I eat ice cream. It's bizarre bc I never believed I'd stop drinking it & I did in a day. Now all I drink is water & unsweetened ice tea! So much healthier!! That's my usual go-to on a regular day! Fun stuff huh? LOL! 😂😊👍

Re: What's on your plate?

@BaseballJen It's good that you've found a diet* that works for you! "Healthy" is somewhat subjective, as many people have different dietary needs. What's healthy for me might not be healthy for you or anyone else. 🙂

I don't count calories unless I start feeling very sluggish and faint, which is usually a sign that I haven't eaten enough that day—and even then, I just do a quick general rounded-up/down tally of what I've eaten that day to see how far off my target I am. I refuse to do daily (or weekly, or really any 🤣) food tracking, and I don't limit myself to low fat or low calorie foods. I need calories and good fats to maintain my health. But like I said, what works for some may not work for others.

I will say this, though: a crock pot or pressure cooker is a great kitchen tool! Pressure cookers still make me nervous (I can't stop imagining the lid jammed up into the ceiling), but they're fabulous time savers.

*I use the word "diet" to mean your normal daily food consumption, not a temporary weight loss diet.

Pot Roast. I didn’t know how easy it is to make 🤣😂
