What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

:D! Too funny!

Re: What's on your plate?

Wow your husband is definitely a keeper! [But you already know that!]

I hope the weather warms up for you soon!

Re: What's on your plate?

It should... around July. Here's a picture of my car in our driveway. We used it to go grocery shopping on Valentine's Day morning and it was clean then. This is a little over 24 hours later.

We got over another foot of snow again last night and the winds are howling right now. Wind chills below zero. 😞

Re: What's on your plate?

This is insane! I hope you are staying safe, jozkid.

Re: What's on your plate?

Oh Randee, you have NO idea! No joke, we have piles of snow about 8 feet high on the corners of our property where my husband and the town have put snow. Generally speaking it's about 4-5 feet in most places in our yard. We have more snow than Colorado! The kids can't even go out and play in it. They'd sink and we wouldn't find them again until the thaw! 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

I hope they are not too sad that they have to stay indoors! At least it's a good time to get caught up on movies and books and drink hot chocolate!

Re: What's on your plate?

Happy Valentine DiWA! I always love your dishes. They always look beautiful and yummy at the same time. What get me the most is you always somehow have green/lettuces in your dish. I love green and lettuces 🙂

Re: What's on your plate?

Thank you BlackKitty! You're becoming more and more adoptable. 😉

Re: What's on your plate?

Yay, I won't be hungry no more 🙂 🙂

Re: What's on your plate?

This is another night in which the main protein was leftovers. This is the meatloaf that I made last month that has shredded beets in it. (No, you can't taste the beets.) I served this meatloaf with some steamed greens that were tossed with some diced orange, orange zest and sesame oil. The other side was smashed parsnips. A couple small sticks of Persian cucumber were added to the plate for a crunchy diversion.

Re: What's on your plate?

Those vegetables.....they look even more delicious than the meatloaf.  How is that possible????

Re: What's on your plate?

LOL. I like to make my veggies look and taste delicious! Otherwise, I won't want to eat them.

I always put an oil on raw greens (massage it in) and also drizzle it on steamed veggies. Other times, I use ghee, which I absolutely love. The smashed parsnips have ghee mixed in with some coconut (drinking) milk.

I have read in various nutrition books that adding a fat to veggies (especially to greens, for example) ensures that the nutrients are absorbed by the body. I'm not sure if that's true but it makes perfect sense to me!

Leafy greens is one of my favorite veggies. So much can be done with them. I like them so much more than salad greens.

Recommended book: "Eating on the Wild Side" by Jo Robinson.

Re: What's on your plate?

Greens > Salad any day.  When I eat a salad, I feel like I still need to eat real food.  I am trying to get over that.

I always eat fat with my vegetables.  I use plain old butter on them.  I got some goat milk butter which is delicious.  I eat it plain from a spoon too.

Re: What's on your plate?

For lunch it was soba noodles in broth with chicken and cilantro dumplings (from Costco):

My bf normally likes to pan fry them, but I don't trust myself to use a wok like he does. I have an irrational fear that I'll somehow fling all the food in a wok all over my kitchen (floors, walls, ceiling, etc.). 😛

I ave a slice of carrot cake for dessert. Tonight I'm doing something with salmon (probably spice it up and blacken it in a pan) and beef tips.

Re: What's on your plate?

We have these too!

One day there were all of these older Asian people waiting around the area they were making these.

And it smelled so good, I didn't even fight for a sample.

I just bought them on smell and they are so tasty!

Re: What's on your plate?

this looks yummy.

Re: What's on your plate?

They are, they're bite sized so when they're pan fried they're sooooo easy to just munch on! Little dipping sauce...BOOM!

Re: What's on your plate?

Toasted Bagel, one egg cooked over medium w/ a touch of olive oil, one slice of colby jack cheese, one slice of thick sliced smoked bacon and a heap of sriracha sauce. Breakfast sandwich is served!

Re: What's on your plate?

That sounds sooooooo good!

Re: What's on your plate?

Today was all seasonal items. I had leftover braised pork belly, with freshly roasted brussel sprouts. I made a sauce for the pork that contained pomegranate seeds, apple cider, Dijon mustard, tamari sauce and honey. I sprinkled some ground vanilla powder on the orange slices on the side.
