What’s in a Name?

I was at the pet store today and spotted this and picked it up immediately. Of course it came home with me. I was thinking, I have been sprocketta since 1997. My childhood nickname was Stacely Sprockets. My name is Stacy. The boss on the Jetsons is Spacely Sprockets. In 1997 when aol started messenger and chat rooms, I needed a user name. I became sprocketta. Always lowercase. So what’s in your name? Your childhood nickname, your BIC name, a nickname you have now. Share the story. I know there was a thread on usernames at one point but I’m starting fresh with more than just your BIC name, though I’d love to know that story.

@Skunk12puzzola 🤣 It's about birds. I think some folks assume it's about fairies or angels or even dragons, but nope: birds. I was named partly after a bird because of the way I looked around the hospital nursery at all the other babies, probably wondering why they were all crying and where was I and what the heck was going on. Like I was trying to take in and process everything at once. I guess that personality trait/quirk has stuck with me for life. 

So has the desire to fly, which of course I can't do because humans have no wings. So I have to settle for other modes of motion and travel. Since childhood, I've wondered what birds have seen on their flights, where they've gone (studying migration paths is pretty interesting), who they've met. What stories they could tell. Where they'll fly to next. 

My username was supposed to just be wingless, but that username was already taken. I think "wingless1" was too, so I spelled out the number. 🤷‍♀️

@WinglessOne   Oh you’re a fellow daydreamer!   Are you the adventurous type?  Would you ever consider hang gliding to get that winged feeling?

@heartsmyface  I've gone ziplining a few times (it's fun!), but not hang gliding. Might still try it someday. 🙂 

I've completely talked myself out of skydiving, though. That's not flying, that's falling. 😂 A friend teased me about it because I love roller coasters, and those involve at least 50% falling. But see, I don't need a parachute (plus enough luck to not break my legs upon "landing") to ride even the tallest, fastest, or most intense coaster.

@WinglessOne ah ok!! so interesting 😊 I thought about wearing wings at first (because some women like to use them, and you have natural hair, you also told me that you love your greys once, so I thought about that).....but I didn't have a clue about birds. Ok, so you're a bird, but without wiNgs 🤣 I read somewhere on the chat your real name (R) and it's very pretty. We have a lot of r.... birds (I'm typing like this just in case you don't want to show your name publicly) on my balcony in the morning. We have a plant and those birds come to drink its water, so cute 😍

@sprocketta - Titian was one of my cats; she passed away in 2005, but I mistyped "06."  Titian was an orange-ish tabby so I named her after the artist Titian known for the Burnt Sienna shade he used in his paintings.  She was a real sweetheart! 💖🐾

@sprocketta   Ha, my user name was simply the first combo of words I tried that didn’t have a number following it, but it stuck well and seems forum appropriate.   Everyone calls me Hearts now and I respond to it as though it’s my actual name.  I do the same thing with heart items.  Ha, personal branding right?  I get especially excited when I see hearts with faces!   They usually have to come home with me😜💕. 

Is it weird I see your user name and I can remember the voice of the fluffy grey dog from Fraggle Rock?  I’ve had it wrong this whole time!😆

@Skunk12puzzola  Oh my gosh that’s hilarious!   I am crying laughing!  hahaha, I once purchased two bulbs of elephant garlic, baked them up with Brie and ate them.  They were absolutely delicious!   The next few days I was ‘fragrant’ in all the ways;)  I was banished to the bedroom😅. The best part was a friend came over and the first thing he said was ‘oh God, what’s that smell?’   I will never live it down.  I am no longer alllowed to purchase elephant garlic but I do threaten to every once in a while.  😂
