What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

We're blabbing about everything else these days, I figured I'd check in and see what people are watching when it comes to TV shows and movies!

It would be foolish to think that this thread could remain spoiler free, so let's be courteous to one another and be sure to spoiler your spoilers. If you don't know how, it's that super adorable little yellow button on the toolbar, located to the right of the bold/italic/underline/strikeout buttons.

DONT FORGET: If you happen to be the most recent post, your first sentence or two of your post will show up EVEN IF ITS IN A SPOILER. So please take care if you're going to go dropping spoiler bombs.

Anywho... I just saw the movie PHOENIX last night and it was absolutely spectacular. Like Academy Award spectacular. If you're fortunate enough have showings in your area, I cannot urge you enough to go see it.

So whatcha'll watchin' these days? What are you anxiously waiting for to start back up?

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

I finished watching The Last Thing He Told Me on Apple + TV  with Jennifer Garner  and Criminal Record also on AppleTV it’s British and on MAX   Season 4 of True Detective Night Country with Jodie Foster

These were all great mysteries and had some surprising endings 😀

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

Omg how was the last thing he told me???

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

@AlliGC  We really enjoyed it!  But they wrapped up the season sooo quickly in the last episode.  And there were plot holes that were never addressed.  But Jennifer Garner is very good in this one!

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

We just finished season 4 of True Detective too @Cissy63 . We thought the ending is a bit odd

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

@blackkitty2014   I have not watched any of the prior seasons.   And really only watched this one because of Jodie Foster plus my love of Arctic and Antarctic adventures.  Like @WinglessOne  said there are holes in the wrap up at the end.  Although I certainly didn’t anticipate who was responsible for murder on the ice 😮

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

@Cissy63  “Although I certainly didn’t anticipate who was responsible for murder on the ice” —heh, I did, but I was mostly kidding when I called it during an early episode. So when it turned out to be correct, I had to pause the last episode because I was laughing so hard. 🤣 That reveal would’ve been much more powerful (with the message the show was trying to convey) if the show had delved deeper into… I’ll just say “the town’s culture” so as not to spoil things for others.

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

@WinglessOne  Yep, I understand where you are coming from .

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

@blackkitty2014 @Cissy63  True Detective season 4 was okay. I wish it was much longer than 6 episodes though. It had SO much more story potential than it was allowed to show us. To me, it wound up feeling disjointed with lots of story holes throughout the season. Not necessarily plot holes; story holes. The rather open-ended final scene didn’t help, but that’s the least of the season’s issues. I dunno, I need to rewatch the whole season and see if all the missing story still bothers me. Trying not to get into specifics here, lest I spoil things for folks who haven’t watched it yet.

I didn’t hate season 4, don’t get me wrong. It’s better than season 2. 😂 The first time I tried to watch season 2, back when it was released, I never even made it through the entire first episode before giving up on it. So before season 4 began, I forced myself to watch all of season 2. And good grief… I mean, no offense to any fans of that season. I just had a very hard time sludging through Colin Farrell’s mumbling and all the oddly (and sometimes unnecessary) delivered dialogue. The season wasn’t all bad; it had some good moments. But getting to them was a chore, and I wound up not caring about any of the characters.

I also rewatched season 1, right after finishing season 2, to pull myself out of “why’d I just spend so much time watching that” mode. I’ll rewatch season 3 soon (I liked that season).

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

@WinglessOne @I agree. Season 4 stats out with soo much potential. We never watched any season before that. We tried season 1 but it was soo slow. I will make my husband continue to watch season 1 again. Hope it gets better

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

@blackkitty2014  Yeah, I understand season 1 feeling too slow. A friend tried watching it. After the second episode, she asked “is this show really about the case, or the characters?” And I answered, “yes.” 😂 Season 1 sometimes gets so deep into the characters, the case/plot feels like a backdrop. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing, unless you’re a very plot-driven reader/watcher. To me, season 1 is the most successful at making me care about the characters and the case.

I’ll also say what I told my friend: remember, the title of the show is True Detective. Not True Murder Case. Each season has some focus on the detectives’ lives, motivations, etc. This slows down the plot at times. Season 1 does ramp up, though. Season 2 seemed more plot-driven to me and any character focus felt, I dunno, forced and cheesy. Season 3 was a big improvement, though I’ll warn you there are some time jumps throughout that season due to the nature of the main character’s mental state. Season 4 didn’t do enough meaningful character focus for me. But I’ll rewatch it soon.

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

Thx for the mini review @WinglessOne ❤️ we continue to watch season 1 this weekend 👍

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

I never watched "young Sheldon" even though I am a huge "The Big Bang Theory" fan.  A friend recommended I try it.  I am totally hooked watching it on Netflix.   In a week I have watched 2 seasons and a piece of Season 3.

Missy, his sister, is a hoot.

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

I really like it too @CorgiMommy, Missy is hilarious.

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

@CorgiMommy @I like it as well - I actually think it’s good for people who didn’t even like big bang. Just a nice feel good times past family show, just with a small twist

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

@Kim888 I totally agree

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

@Cissy63, my hair stylist just recommended Fool Me Once to me the other day. I have it on my short list and your post just reminded me I needed to make a decision - otherwise, my list will just get longer and longer!

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

@itsfi  This is a good one especially if you like mystery plots with lots of twists and turns!

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

All the Light We Cannot See on Netflix.  The limited series is as good as the book.

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)

Just finished Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

Re: What are you watching? (Don't be a spoil sport - spoiler your spoilers)
