URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

Here is the pic I was able to find

New Urban Decay Naked 2 Colors - Is it Worth It?

And here is a pic comparing the new one to the original

The colors are called

Foxy, Half Baked, Bootycall, Chopper, Tease, Snakebite, Suspect, Pistol, Verve, YDK, Busted, Blackout

I will absolutely get this! I never got the original one for myself ( but have bought as gift for someone else) and I'm glad that I didnt because the Naked 2 is much more suited for my fair to light complexion. The original one has way too many darker/muddy colors. It also comes with a mini lipgloss and a 2 sides brush.

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

I so didn't need this (!) but of course I just ordered it anyway! 🙂

I actually really like that it comes in a metal case -- the velvet / felt on my original Naked palette gets so dusty looking! I find it impossible to keep clean (or maybe I just live in a dusty building).

I think I need this palette, and can't wait for us to get it! I just confirmed with our Merchants that it will be available to order on Sephora.com starting 12/27 and in Sephora stores starting 1/26. So exciting!

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

I hope Sephora handles the sales of the NAKED 2 palette a lot better than UD did. It was so frustrating and time consuming to have to stalk the site for when they were finally going to start selling them. Having only 5000 was really mean also, I bet a ton of people didn't get one, they weren't up for sale for very long before they sold out.

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

I know, it's crazy how high the demand is for UD Naked palettes! I'm always shocked at how fast the first shipment sells through. Fortunately Urban Decay has more shipments coming as early as next week, and the palette will be out at other retailers later in the month, so eventually there will be enough for everyone who wants one. Smiley Happy Sephora will probably sell out right away again too when it becomes available, but there will be more coming.

XO,
Olivia

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

I've checked the website several times just to see if they made some more, but they didnt. I really thought that UD would have better prepared themselves, especially with the holidays coming up.

You know whats weird? Now that there's a new Naked, the original one is easy to find. Every store has plenty of the old ones to go around but now that they are finally widely available, no one cares. Everyone wants the new one lol.

I'm passing on the old one altogether, and just going for the Naked 2. I might get some for gifts though.

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

@sephoramusthave-  UD had some more palettes for a couple of hours around midday today, but they are sold out again now. I would have expected that they would have really made sure that they had plenty before the launch, since they were so busy hyping it before release. Definitely they should have had plenty for Christmas, it isn't like they didn't have plenty of time to get it together from seeing the response to NAKED 1.

I also noticed that there was a good supply of NAKED 1 available, though the Sephora near me was out of them during the VIB event in November. But that store was pretty well depleted of all the good stuff, when I went I had a hard time finding stuff to buy with my 20% off coupon (hmm, maybe that says more about the size of my collection than what they had in stock...)

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

I had to go to school today and I missed out on the Naked2 palette! I am sooo upset and I'm trying to not lose hope in getting one soon! Smiley Sad

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

honestly i think sometimes companies do this to build up more publicity & need for their products. i'm sure (or at least hope) that someone at UD has done a risk-benefit analysis and maybe they've found that these types of situations actually create more sales. i bet that's why they build up the hype like that.

who knows, even if that's not the case it's makeup its not the end of the world whether or not we really get it right away  😉 (or that UD makes a huge pile of money on it).i'm sure you would all agree that there are many more important things in the world to worry about!

(and even though i'm saying this i'll be the first to admit that i am soo susceptible to hype like this lol. i bought the first naked palette the first time i saw it anywhere, probably a couple weeks after it's releast,  just bc of the hype. I decided i dind't need it at the time and also really shouldn't have spent the money so i returned it unopened! and then i bought it again this past may when it was actually the product i needed. LOL)

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

I'm really glad that I passed on the last few UD palettes ( Mariposa, 15 Anniversary, Book of Shadows Vol.4...geez they really have been doing back to back releases lately havent they? We love it though, right girls? :D) because I'm really only interested in Naked 2.

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

Now that a lot of people have had a chance to experiment with the Naked 2 palette, I went back online to check out the reviews. I read bad reviews first, because I want to see why they DONT like it. Just the UD website has over 200 reviews on this product and the complaints were mostly

1. Not enough cool toned neutrals (dang it)

2. Not enough matte colors ( I'm a shimmer gal myself)

3. Half Baked was repeated

4. Packaging

5. Too similar to original

Absolutely none of this will stop me from getting one when it hits stores but I want to put this out there anyway, because I know a lot of people already own the original.

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

I'm willing to guess that most people making those complaints are the ones you bought the first NAKED palette first.  Usually when there is a sequel to things (especially with movies) and people were absolutely in love with the first one, it's very hard for a sequel to live up to the orginal.

As for matte shades, I read what some people were posting on UD's Facebook page.  Rumor is there will be a matte palette sometime in the spring.  Some also said that the matte shades will feature a new formula.  My question: new formula for matte shades only or a complete overhaul on all the eyeshadow formulas?  From what I read, UD hasn't confirmed or denied anything people have been posting.

I'm excited for Naked 2 to hit stores.  I don't have many neutrals, and the neutrals in the 15th Anniversary palette can be too dramatic for daily use (although I still love them lol).

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

I just emailed UD and asked them to make a little matte neutral palette with lighter colors for fair skin/cool toned gals. All of their stuff is geared toward mostly warm toned/medium skin toned people.

You are right, these people all already own the original. But I'm also looking at blogs from makeup collectors and they are all disappointed....they are saying that you can get the same looks with either palette and that the original is "creamier".

I dont own the original, I've messed around with it in store but I just wanted the Naked 2. So I will more than likely be head over heels with it.

I need to stop adding items to my makeup bag though....what used to be a daily essentials makeup bag is turning into a mini collection.

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

Eyeshadows are the dominant makeup aspect in my stash.  They're like my paint to my canvas eyes.  (corny, I know lol)  The Naked 2 would add a different element to my makeup, especially since I'm a secondary English education major.  (ignore typos lol)  I'll be taking Foundations of Education next semester, which means observations.  I don't think UD's Woodstock or Deep End are exactly appropriate.  Next Fall, I will be able to go to the Board for my interview (and "number drop" my ACT scores as my advisor said) to be accepted into the College of Education for my education minor.  I might as well start practicing more neutral looks lol.  I'll have that class on Wednesdays and Fridays, so that would be a good time to practice.  Either that, or it's a good excuse to cave on the palette lol.

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

@ Kimmi Hey the Balm Meet Matte might be a good option. It contains all Matte colors including a few neutrals and matte green, grey, etc. I usually use that for interviews and stuff since the colors are really subtle.

I personally love Woodstock, it's fun for the weekends!

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

You're right Woodstock wouldn't be appropriate in that situation!  I personally am not a big fan of that one anyway.

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

The lip gloss with the palette is from the Lipgloss Junkie collection, right?    I have two mini ones that came with palettes in Midnight Cowboy and Crush.  I really like them, and the mintiness smells good  lol.  The two minis are more on the sheer side, though.

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

Yes the shade is Naked.  I've received other samples in Wallflower and a pink one  - don't remember the name of that one.

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

@anaa Thanks for clearing that up.  I think it makes a nice touch for the palette.  Now, to wait for stores to get it in lol.

@geminibreeze  I've seen the Meet Matte on theBalm's official site, but not on Sephora.  I'd like to see it in person, but my Sephora in JCP doesn't carry the brand.  Maybe I'll stumble upon it at TJ Maxx someday lol.  I Woodstock as well, especially using it with other pinks and neutrals.

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

I own the original Naked palette. I have light/medium skin and it is a pretty dramatic palette. I use it almost daily but I am a full-time student--no real job to speak of--so I can get away with a darker look during the day. I will probably get the Naked2 palette when it comes to Sephora despite the similarities, because I like that the colors seem to be more neutral. The palette looks more shimmery but in actuality it has one more matte shade than the original. Not a fan of the metal case; I know the felt case is a pain to keep clean but it is convenient and I have read a lot of reviews that the new case is clunky, heavy, and uncomfortable to work with. I hope the rumors of an all matte UD palette are true though because I love matte colors. The Meet Matt(e) palette from theBalm is one I have been considering but like kimmi1115 I have only been able to find it on theBalm website and I would need to see it in person before purchasing it. Well that's my two-cents, anyway 🙂

Re: URBAN DECAY NAKED 2

Hi sara505,

I love how I agree with pretty much everything you said! I have the original Naked palette but something about the lighter neutrality of the Naked 2 is really drawing me in! 🙂 This palette is going to be a great hot item to have once it arrives in the next few weeks! Very exciting Smiley Very Happy
