The Canadian Peeps!

So I'd like to maintain a board for the Canadian customers.  A place where we can share our events, promos, problems etc.

I sometimes see deals and info for Canadians and rather then posting a new convo all the time maybe we can just share on this board.

I think it would be easier to communicate with each other if we only had one board to follow.

Where to shop!

So I do have a list/link somewhere with brands and where they are found.  I'll try and dig it out and if you want it pm me Smiley Wink

For those who don't know...

Shoppers Drug Mart and Murale have a wonderful loyalty program and your points are worth "cash" in store.

The Bay is bringing in more brands... just recently Burberry. I'm thinking we will see more good things come.  They also have a VIP program... I am not too sure how it all works but it applies to all purchases from the store and you get a 20$ off 100$ makeup purchase coupon almost every month... Like who wouldn't want that!  Hello MAC!

Beautylish ships to Canada and they are FAST!  Order processed and shipped within the hour and arrives the next day!

Now that we have Nordies in Canada you might be able to call a counter and get items shipped to you.  Some things you can get shipped from the site.

Apparently Saks is coming.  I believe The Bay is the one who will be owning them and bring them in.

If you get a good SA at Holts you can also get stuff shipped to you.

Sorry been MIA from this board a long time.

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

Certain SDM now have a "Beauty Boutique".  The one in London has Urban Decay, Benefit, Stila, Lancome, Clinique, etc, etc.

They have an e-mail system set up that if there is and upcoming sale or GWP, you'll receive a notification.   You can specify which brands you are most interested in for customized notifications.

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

For regular spending you get 10 points for ever dollar you spend before tax (and rounded down, e.g. If you spend $9.99 before tax you'll get 90 points). You can then redeem different amounts of points for different amounts of money. 8000 points is $10, 22000 points is $30, 38000 points is $60, 50000 points is $85 and 95000 points is $170. So you can see that there's a slightly better value if you wait and collect you points (you can essentially spend $9500 to get $170 back, it's like 1.79% back) but it doesn't seem that great.

The best part about the program is that they regularly have 20x the points events, typically once a month. This means you only have to spend $475 to get to 95000 points. They also have "spend your points events" where you can get more money off for the same number of points. They typically have at least 4 of those a year, where you would get $200 for 95000 points. Then once or twice a year they have 'super spend your points events" where you can get $220 for $95000.

If you just use the program on a day to day basis, you can get  $170  for spending $9500 (1.79% back). But if you only buy during 20x events, and you only redeem at the points events, you can get up to $220 for spending $475 (46.32% back). I'd say that's one of the best rewards programs you can find in Canada, but it depends if you want to plan your shopping to maximize your savings.

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

If you're near a Murale (part of SDM), and are going to drop a lot on cosmetics soon, this could be a good dealupload_1774781807611423874.jpg

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

Nice deal but they have the worst customer service ever!  That's why I don't shop there. lol

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

Oh really? I find it's not too bad (although I don't go there often). They are very intent on "helping" which I find can be a bit annoying.

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

Really?  I used to have one close to my house and it closed down. There's another one downtown.  They never wanted to help and were super snobby. I was at the grand opening (I think it was by invite) and was totally disappointed. Even on the phone they are rude.

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

I agree Veronika I haven't ever had good service within em, and it's located three or four shops down from my sephora, so I just go to sephora!

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

Was the hello kitty sephora was carrying their brand only, or is it being sold elsewhere now?

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

Never seen the Hello Kitty carried by Sephora somewhere else.

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

January is going to be skin care month with multiple brand specific events, but they don't have specific dates yet. I would great appreciate anybody posting any events (even brand promotions).

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

I saw this $12 boxing day banner on the Canadian site. Do you think they'll have some new stuff to offer? or just black Friday left-overs?

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

Good catch!! I don't know. In Toronto they are still trying to sell some of the black Friday leftovers in store (mostly tarte sets). However you would think they would have learned from the negative shootstorm that cybersaturday 'deals' caused when they presented stuff already on sale as the new deals. I hope it is some nice stuff, but I am a bit jaded, so I will say 'I'll believe it when I see it'.

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

FYI, they just added a lot of Tarte and Stilla to the sale section. Half wondering if that will be the boxing day sale haha.

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

Yeah Thanks!  I sometimes go on the US site, heart what I like on sale then switch over to the Canadian site.  Sometimes not all items show up in the Canadian sale section even if it's been reduced. Smiley Wink

Yeah also curious to know if it will still be around boxing day.  It will be an extra 20% off sale items starting on the 25th.

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

Sephora National Clearance Centre in Montreal.

Admittedly, I haven't read through all 10 pages of this post to see if this has been discussed already.

I just came across someone selling a clarisonic brush on ebay, and they post a pic of the sephora receipt to show its authenticity, and the receipt says, "Sephora National Clearance Centre" on it, and states the address of the centre.

Is it silly for me to want to plan my next vacation around getting myself to this place? :  )

Have any of you been? Is it as amazing as it sounds like it would be?

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

OMG!  I didn't even know this existed... granted I don't live in Montreal but I'm 2 hours away... MTL peeps please let us know if you knew about this!!!!!

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

As someone who lives in Montreal, I have never heard about this until yesterday when like you, I was searching on eBay for Clarisonics. I was like WTF?!

i must investigate further!

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

I live near Montreal and had never heard of this before but I found the phone number listed for the address and called. Unfortunately, it's not in service. :-(

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

I walked by it the other day after seeing this picture and that address is a high end condo/apartment building. Seems like something that someone made as a joke.

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

Ok so anyone here still having problems with the taxes??? Thanks Smiley Happy

Re: The Canadian Peeps!

I am. Two out of three of my orders placed online in December were overcharged taxes.
