The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

Hello BIC friends and fellow gardeners! Whether you have a container on your balcony, some indoor plants, a whole garden, or even if you just happen to visit a botanical garden or see a lovely space or plant in your neighborhood you want to share, this is the place! Please share pics, tips, plans and tricks about all things gardening!

For many years I had a container balcony garden with mostly flowers and herbs (when travel allowed), and I am now embarking on my first backyard landscaping and gardening journey.

I am often taking inspiration from the natural world around me and have recently had some spring inspiration for the Makeup Challenge of the Week and have loved chatting about gardening in our sun threads, so I thought a new thread would be nice.

Itโ€™s always so interesting to me to see plants and gardens from different regions and countries, so I hope youโ€™ll join the conversation!

PS: if you create a makeup look based on some plant or garden inspiration, please feel free to post your look or flat-lay here, too!

Here are a few pics of my spring bulbs to start and Iโ€™ll share more soon (kindly ignore the weeds)!

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

@Ispend2much6  My husband just got the very same one a week back and he said after feeding the tomatoes they started making fruits now, thx so much again ๐ŸŒนโ™ฅ๏ธ

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

@blackkitty2014   I'm so glad!!  Yes, it must be good because this is the very first year we've harvested large tomatoes with no blemishes.

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

This is awesome, @Ispend2much6 !  It all looks so tasty! ๐Ÿค—

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

@Titian06. Fresh vegetables are a treat!

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

@Ispend2much6 whoa ๐Ÿ˜ฒ.  Thassa lot...

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

@CookieGirl1. Agreed!

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

Now thatโ€™s a haul @Ispend2much6! What are your plans for these delicious veggies?

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

@JoSometimes  Thank you!  Right now marinated cucumbers, zucchini bread, pasta alla norma sauce, my family loves eggplant parmesan, and using the Hungarian wax peppers for beef stew.

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

So I see a road trip- what time should we show up for dinner?

Do you ever can the vegetables for future use or do you prefer to use them right away?

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

That sounds so yummy @Ispend2much6! Bon appetite!

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

A few updates from around the yard. Everything is still in containers because the landscapers keep getting delayed! Hydrangea progress pics, itโ€™s so pink and pretty!

I originally bought the Tahiti hibiscus ( pink double bloom) but then I saw the Fiji which is tree form (white with pink center/edges) and had to have it, I want to put it on the corner with the mock oranges. Now I donโ€™t know what to do with the Tahiti.

The ranunculus are so odd looking and not like I expected, or anything like their pics on the package, not sure if thatโ€™s because of the conditions, but who knows.

Iโ€™m obsessed with the poppies, theyโ€™ve been blooming constantly!

Not pictured, but the cherry tomatoes are looking good, and I have three jalapeรฑos close to harvesting! Mint and parsley are flourishing, all the rest of the herbs are hanging in there.

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

@sister13 Your property is looking so colourful and pretty! So many flowers blooming even though they arenโ€™t in their homes yet!

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

Thanks!! I am sooooo looking forward to having things planted but of course we are slated for the hottest weather of the summer so far! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ @JoSometimes

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

@sister13 I understand completely. Weโ€™ve had some pretty unbearable weather here too. Itโ€™s either too hot or too rainy.

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

Ugh, exactly! @JoSometimes

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

All of your flowers are so pretty, @sister13 !  How exciting that you'll be eating fresh from your garden produce soon! ๐Ÿ˜

Re: The BIC Plant and Gardening Thread

Thank you!! I really wanted a captese salad the other day but was musing fresh mozzarella, so I just had tomato (store bought) and basil (from the garden) with balsamic, olive oil and salt/pepper. Picking up some fresh mozzarella today!

Iโ€™ve been enjoying the mint in hot tea and some mint Sun tea. I need to make some mojitos!! @Titian06
