The Art Thread <3

Alright gals, after getting some positive feedback on the idea, I want to introduce you to THE ART THREAD!!! 🙂

Use this thread to post anything art related. Maybe you have been working on a long-term painting, drew something fun during a subway ride, or just admire all of the great art out there! Feel free to post your own work and/or others' (as long as you give credit, of course!). Don't worry if you aren't the artistically inclined type. Art is for everyone to share, love, and learn from! Post anything from "I saw this cool poster in the mall today" to "my most recent masterpiece". And if you ARE one of the creative types... SHOW. IT. OFF. Go crazy! We all want to see your awesome work! No judgment. Just appreciation.

Also, here is a list of great art-related websites to use for inspiration in case you are new to the art scene. 🙂 (Please excuse me... I'm a graphic design major so the sites tend to be design-heavy.)

https://www.itsnicethat.com/

https://www.pinterest.com/ (of course!)

http://www.underconsideration.com/artofthemenu/

https://www.underconsideration.com/brandnew/

https://formfiftyfive.com/

http://thedesignfiles.net/

https://eyeondesign.aiga.org/

http://www.thedieline.com/

http://hifructose.com/ (their print magazines are GORGEOUS!)

http://www.thejealouscurator.com/blog/

https://www.booooooom.com/

https://www.lynda.com/

(This one is special. With a membership you get access to interactive, SUPER HELPFUL tutorials on basically anything. I use it to figure out Adobe programs when I encounter a technical problem but it can also be used to learn art basics if you are interested! Some colleges provide membership to the website for free so be sure to ask.)

If you would like me to add anything to this list, please feel free to let me know! I am totally down to adding more websites!

Re: The Art Thread <3

Hi ya’ll! New to Sephora community. Found this forum and wanted to share my art as well 🙂

I’m a professional artist in the mobile game industry but I’ve been quite busy to make personal work. Here’s an example of a face painted a while ago, broken down in steps (I also like teaching art). Enjoy!

I've been swamped by my thesis year, but here's something I've been working on for weeks (a wee bit at a time)! I'm hoping to finish this by the end of next week 🙂

I'd love to work on an illustration that's makeup related too. Maybe after this one.

Re: The Art Thread <3

This is fantastic @MSena! ❤️

Re: The Art Thread <3

@angel7594 Thank you 😄 I can't wait to draw more over the summer.

Re: The Art Thread <3

I apologize for being gone so long, guys! Midterms have been INSAAANE! Looks like you all have gotten along amazingly without me though! Love the continued inspiration and creativity! 🙂 Keep it up!

Re: The Art Thread <3

I just found this thread and had so much fun looking through the entire thing.  There's some serious talent on these pages!  I'm not an artist myself, so I'll participate with some attributed work.

My husband and I have different taste in artwork: he's into dark, Gothic stuff and I'm all about vivid colors.  Then we were vacationing in Key West and found an artist who was the perfect intersection of those two styles: Adam Scott Rote.  We pooled our money together to buy one of his prints for our home, and it's one of the few expensive purchases we've made from our joint account (only other ones I can think of are our house and our living room furniture).  I couldn't find the print online, so I had my husband text me a picture of it.  Here's the photo:ASR4.jpg

@IciclePop This is beautiful!!😍🙌

Re: The Art Thread <3

Absolutely gorgeous! I am beyond jealous! I definitely get the gothic style that your husband likes! That is what I love to do the most and am automatically drawn to! Great post! @IciclePop

@ClassicallyFab Whoa! Those are incredible.

Re: The Art Thread <3

Wow! That is awesome that your mom is passionate about art! Mine is like huh? Haha! 🙂 @ClassicallyFab

Re: The Art Thread <3

These are beautiful and so very special, @ClassicallyFab!  Thank you so much for sharing them with us.  Hugs, doll! ❤️

Re: The Art Thread <3

These are all amazing!!! That first one is especially mesmerizing to me!! @ClassicallyFab 😍🙌

Re: The Art Thread <3

@ClassicallyFab  I just realized the first painting looks like a person trying to break through a wall to go to the ocean. There's also a mini painting or tv or something on the bottom left.  That is so fascinating, especially how she used shapes and colors.  Somehow it all goes together.  Truly genius.

Re: The Art Thread <3

Excellent eye! It’s a painting of my grandmother @Ispend2much6. 💖

Re: The Art Thread <3

The second one almost looks like it could have been a self-portrait.

Isn't it funny how something in nature can hold different meaning for different people?

Water, or the ocean, seems to signify peace or freedom to your mom.  For me, I usually have water nightmares of the ocean almost swallowing me up in different scenarios, usually if I'm feeling overwhelmed.  I'm so glad I haven't had one of those in awhile!

@ClassicallyFab

Re: The Art Thread <3

@SchylarR Yay! Thanks for making this thread.

I used to be an A&D major... and I still like dabbling in illustrations. Here's two of my recent works:

Original piece had more blood...but I erased it for sake of this thread. Theme was "Blood on snow"Original piece had more blood...but I erased it for sake of this thread. Theme was "Blood on snow"Theme was Winter & GirlTheme was Winter & Girl

I was lazy and reused the trees, as you can see.

Re: The Art Thread <3

@MSena Absolutely beautiful! I am so envious of those who have digital illustration talents! I have a Wacom tablet but every time I try to draw digitally it looks like I did it with my foot! I would love to see the original, more bloody versions as well! I bet they are even more gorgeous! 🙂
