Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Hi. My name is Bombshell and I am an eye shadow-aholic. I love it. It makes me so happy. It is getting out of control. Upon counting only those palettes with 3+ shadows I have a total of 43. They each deserve love and attention. They all deserve their own 5 minutes (or days in the case) of fame. My Plan is this: One by one the Palattes shall parade through the open space on my vanity. Starting this Monday, each week I will use only one palette per work week (M-F) and cheat on the weekends. I will use them one by one until I have used them all for  5 day period. I will use them in alphabetical order. I have alphabetized my palettes and started with those that begin with #'s, lowest number to highest, and the A-Z. On Saturday and Sunday (depending on what CalamityJane comes up with) there might be a look or color of the day. In addition to the palette, single shadows and eyeliner may be used (Smiley Wink ) in addition to the weekly palette. All looks should mainly come from the palette of the week. This way I can be fair to all of my palettes & all of my older palettes that haven't quite gotten the appreciation they deserve will get some time in the sun. At the end of the week if I was successful I will write the date beside the palette on the list. If I can't get at least 5 days worth of looks from them it is likely time to put them in a TSB or give them to a friend that will love them.  I am hoping this will help me appreciate what I've got rather than constantly thinking I need something new. I am not promising not to buy any shadows in the almost year it will take me to complete this little journey. That is just not realistic.I will just have to use them on weekend cheat days.  I am hoping the experience will at least make me more grateful for all the wonderful things I have & save me some $! LOL This is about accountability. I invite any and all to join. Feel free to make up your own rules and reward system. Just post them here and I will support you in your efforts any way that I can. Not all of us will be able to follow the same rules but we can certainly all support one another!

Courtesy of Mafan---New Rule* If you absolutely DO NOT like a palette, you have the option of setting it aside for a TSB/give away and moving on to the next palette on your list. No sense in wearing make up you don't like for 5 whole days!Make up is supposed to make us happy.

Courtesy of JaimeLove---New Rule* A holiday (including your birthday, anniversary or graduation) is an acceptable cheat day! (BRILLIANT)

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

I can't decide…Vice 2 or Too Faced A Few of My Favorite Things next????  hmmmmmm  (So I confess, I could never make a firm list because I have trouble committing)

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

I'm going with Vice 2 this week.  I used the only neutrals in there today…haha.  I'll be more adventurous tomorrow.

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

You are very welcome MissKatie723! Smiley Very Happy

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

I think that is a fitting reward Carolang!!! Smiley Happy Especially if the parade helps you part with a few things to make room. No judgement from me- I am buying the UD Electric palette the INSTANT it goes live!!!!! Smiley Happy

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Very pretty!

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Gorgeous !

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Katie723- how are things going with you?

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

DAAAAANNNNNGGGG! That is gorgeous!

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Looks stunning Calamity! I too feel like all my neutral looks are the same. I think that is why I am so attracted to bright colors!! The look might be exactly the same but at least the color isn't!! Smiley Wink

Did you try any of the looks in the tutorial that came with it? I think I may actually have to venture out and try some!

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

@Mafan-I love bright colors but am not so much a fan of the glitter. I use the UD primer but other than that I think perhaps the flash might just make them look more saturated? It is a quasi-keeper, mostly because I already depotted it to pieces.I couldn't resist playing with my new toy (Z-palette)! NOTE TO SELF: MUST NOT DEPOT BEFORE USING!!!  Several of the shades aren't glittery at all, and I love one of the blushes. I am keeping those and will pass the others and 2 of the blushes to my friend as soon as she gets her Z-palette! I have had them forever so I wouldn't have felt right TSB'ing them.

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Ladies of the parade I call to your attention a matter of business: TIME TO PARRRRRTAY! Our Bee is the first of us to cross the ten palette mark and is the recipient of the first ever Palette Parade Princess Party!!! You will all be getting one but the date and time is hush - hush as I want you to be surprised! Go and leave our sweet Bee a gift worthy of a princess and let her know you are proud! Smiley Wink

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Thanks the one at the top that says crease is from a Victoria's secret quad and the sparkly square one at the bottom was from a smash box quad and the weird shaped one at the bottom was from Neutrogena. I can't wait to play with the dark green ones at the top!

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

love love love!

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Saylorj, it is never too late to join in the fun! Smiley Happy I agree with LadyMeag. If what you love is bold lips I would start out with some good nuetrals and basics. Any of the Nakeds, Lorac Pro, Laura Mercier palettes. If you are wanting bold & bright that discussion could take days amongst this crowd, but we will assist you in any way that we can!  Smiley Happy Welcome to the party!

PS- 30's here too girl! Best time of my life! Smiley Wink

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

At least now you know and can get you $ back Mafan!! Hooray for return policies! Sorry it didn't work out but there are more palettes to love!! Now I know no need to drool over this if I see it so thanks for that too!

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Awesome! I have that one too, but it got shoved to the back of my drawer and never got opened. I may need to give that some love fairly soon!

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Nothing for me yesterday -- I don't put on makeup to work from home during a snowstorm and then go shovel snow!  But today I used my YSL palette wet instead of dry.  Wow, what a difference. The lightest color shows up as a very subtle color and the one that was sheer when I wore it Monday is quite dark today when wet.  Darker than I'd usually wear to work, but what the heck.  It's still lovely.  I'm looking forward to playing with the other colors in the palette until next week.

It's funny, I can often use 3-4 shadows in a larger palette together.  But with this, the color seems best on its own (or possibly a crease color, but I already had it on my lid. : ) )  Any glitter is very subtle; mostly its just a nice shimmer.  And no fallout issues at all when wet.

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

No pictures this week, but TF Naked is a keeper!

Next up is UD Fun. Going out of my comfort zone with this one.

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Omg.... Your so beautiful and I love your makeup!

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Naked 1 this week, here's my look with it. Basic browns in the crease with sin on the lid, and I did a small wing with a gold line on top!

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Day 3 with In the Know.  I thought it might be a swap day but I got up early enough to play with it and still get out on my husband's schedule.  (Okay, he slept later than expected. Smiley Happy )  I do like the palette and have used it off and on since I've had it (not something I can say for everything on my list) but I'm glad it's not my only choice.  I decided to brave fire on my lid and then thought I would add a bit of smoke to the crease and outer corner.  Well, as happens with many fires, there's a lot more smoke than you expected.  And it's wasn't terribly under control.  It definitely does not go down as one of the best blending jobs I've ever done.  Looking at it now, it's fine, but I wish I had a soft but smaller crease brush.

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

this is such a great idea, I really need to do this so I can get use out of all my lovely palettes!

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

No makeup today and maybe tomorrow due to a snowstorm keeping me indoors.  However, I really like the Sleek Makeup i-Divine Storm palette.  It has quite a variety of dark and light matte shades that I can use with other palettes.  These are my first light pink shadows and, while they don't pop on their own, they are great as base colors.  The bluish gray shimmer was a hit yesterday and no fallout to boot.

Re: Take the Challenge: Palette Parade

Alright!  I'm in!  My rules will be a bit different.  I am going to use a different palette each day until I get though them all and decide from there what I wish to do next.    This list includes not just eyeshadow palettes but maybe a couple face palettes as well.  I have palettes coming in the mail that I will want to bump ahead on the list and I will so I am deciding as long as I don't repeat I will just choose randomly from the list til they're all used up.
