So it looks like unicorn mail is taking over the Party Thread. A while back @Mcakes suggested to me that it should have it's own thread. I also saw a few people mention it too since then. Well I think it's time because the love is overflowing and everyone likes to see an unboxing! I know it's one of my favorite parts of BT.
๐ค๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ค Post your unicorn mail here!!!! ๐ค๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ค
Unicorn Mail: A random act of kindness. Essentially a gift/token of appreciation/pick me up/treat received from a fellow member of the community.
OMG looks yummy @jozkid!!!
It WAS so good @veronika23! I have to use the recipe she posted and try making my own
I think I might have to try that at some point too! Never had them before. I know the name from baking shows but that's about it! ๐ @jozkid
OMG these look amazing @jozkid !! Hehe @prettyinpa would definitely send surprise treats in the mail ๐
@jozkid Looks so Yummy!
Totally delicious @caway! Alas they are all gone now. ๐. Thankfully @prettyinpa posted a recipe. Iโm going to have to give that recipe a go!
That is some delicious sounding unicorn mail, @jozkid! Enjoy your treats!
@quspork We did! My husband, my son and I shared the last one. It was almost like an apple pie. Yum!
Awwww - These look delish! So sweet of @prettyinpa to send these to you, @jozkid! โค๏ธ
It sure was @Tamara76! I canโt believe she remembered we chatted about them randomly โ once! And then sent them!
What a sweet surprise, @jozkid! @prettyinpa You know how to make the day of an entire family ๐ they look amazing, I bet they tasted even better:)
Omg @eshoe. They are (were?) scrumptious! And certainly huge enough to share!
@jozkid @prettyinpa Oh, yum! I haven't made those in years. I should make those for my son's bake sale next week. Do either of you have a good recipe?
@Ispend2much6- Here's my recipe given to me by an Amish woman-
This makes chocolate, the traditional kind. If you wanted to make chocolate chip, I imagine you'd just leave out the cocoa powder
2 c sugar
1 c shortening
2 eggs
4 c flour
1 c baking cocoa
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
1 c sour milk (I've used buttermilk in the past and that works too)
2 tsp baking soda
1 c hot water.
1- Cream sugar and shortening, add eggs
2. Sift together flour, cocoa and salt. Add alternately with sour milk. Add vanilla. Dissolve soda in hot water and add last. Mix well.
3 Drop by rounded teaspoons onto cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Cool
Take 2 cookies and spread with Whoopie Pie Filling.
Filling- 1 egg white, beaten
2 Tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 c powdered sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1. Mix egg white, milk, vanilla and 1 c of the powdered sugar. When mixed, add the other cup of powdered sugar and the shortening, mix until fluffy. Spread on cookies. Double the above recipe if you want to fill all the cookies in the recipe above. Some people like the cookies without filling, so I gave the 1/2 batch filling amounts.
I must copy this NOW @prettyinpa! Thank you!
@prettyinpa Thank you soo much! I hope you were able to cut and paste the recipe and didn't go to the trouble of typing all of that!
@Ispend2much6 Actually I typed it out because I wanted to annotate it with the changes I make like how much filling/batch of cookies and the buttermilk substitution. No biggie, when I can actually get logged on here, it seems like I can post as much as I'd like. Except pictures, I'm still having trouble getting my photos up on the Halloween exchange, it keeps kicking them out.
@prettyinpa Well, that's annoying. ๐ Thanks again.
@jozkid- So happy you liked them! The Amish store was having a fall festival and they make special flavors of Whoopie Pies like Gingerbread, Pumpkin (they sold out of those before I got there ๐ ) and Chocolate Chip. I really like Chocolate Chip ones, glad it was your favorite too. The Snitz Moon pie was just because Snitz is so PA Dutch.
Actually @prettyinpa Iโm one of those rare folks who doesnโt get crazy for pumpkin, and the gingerbread was delicious, so it was all good!
@jozkid Well then it was a good thing they had sold out! The fall festival is a big thing, it goes on for 2 days and features apples and fall produce and lots of different cooked dishes.
