And I’ve eaten romaine several times this week...whoops. I haven’t had any from the Arizona region, though!

@PrettyPaint  I haven't read the latest reports, but the headlines said the illnesses are spreading.  Be careful!  I wonder if this is happening to organic lettuce in particular, since it is often grown in dirt that is fertilized with um, "natural animal fertilizer."  And I only buy organic lettuce, (in addition to  hydroponic, which I hope is safe.)

@Ispend2much6 Yikes. I looked at the kind I have and it has a California contact address, but I took a closer look on their website and it’s grown either in California or Yuma, Arizona. I think I’ll get rid of the rest of it. I usually get organic, but this wasn’t. 

I would think hydroponic may be safer, though at this point they don’t seem to know whether the current outbreak occurred on the fields or during packaging/distribution. So I guess it’s possible at all phases.
