Here are are my fluff babies DJ and Gunner (also called Lulu or Lou). They are mother and daughter. DJ is my baby and Gunner is a daddy's girl. They are approximately 9 years old and very spoiled!

I’ve never had such a difficult time adopting a dog. Mine passed late last year and left a gapping hole in my heart. I’ve been trying to rescue/ adopt for 6 months. I’m thankful so many people are like-minded and doing the same thing, I’m just frustrated that for whatever reason my applications get overlooked. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Yes. A while ago my older brother, mom and dad had a cat named Hobbs who was I think 9 when he passed. About two years ago we where looking for a cat to adopt, and after about 8 months my moms friend found two tiny 2 week old kittens below a truck and we rescued them and brought one home. We had to bottle feed him for what seemed like forever! You will find a dog eventually! Just don’t stop trying and you will find your perfect pup!

@GG84 i hope that is not the case here. There seem to be dogs available based on websites.  But I'm trying to wait until I've been back at the office for a couple weeks, so a month away. Are you seeing dogs available online that aren't there in person?

We have a stay at home order and previous to that we were on heavy restrictions to businesses that you could visit in person. Everything regarding adoption is done online. Once approved, if the Foster agrees, you can meet the dog before the adoption date. I did get approved for one a few days ago, however they were less then honest in the bio they posted about the pup online. He was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas and came to Canada and has parasites and has attacked his fosters. While I’m okay with behavioural issues, I’m not okay with attacking.

@GG84 I haven't put in any applications, but I've been unable to find a cat.  The big shelters usually have 100+ cats, and the local PetCo by me always had a great selection of cats.  We got three from them, and it always worked out (one was 15 and one was 10, and they were with us for 3 years; another was 13 and we had him for 11 months).  It was so so great having a local shelter, b/c we could see a cat numerous times to get to know it's personality before adoption.  Now, I feel like an opportunity will never come along.  It seems like all the cats are getting scooped up immediately.  I want a cat especially for my current cat, who's 13 and we've had since he was a kitten.

I can’t even tell you how many adoption applications I’ve filled out at Rescues/Shelters. I’ve owned 4 dogs previously all but 1 were rescues so I’m just not understanding. I’m really starting to take it personally. I only have one restriction and it’s that I don’t want a puppy, which realistically everyone wants to adopt first anyway. I have a friend looking for a cat and she’s having the opposite issue, too many to chose from! Good luck in your Kitty search!
