Health and Sanity Check-Ins

Things are crazy now. I think we are all trying to stay healthy and maintain sanity as well. I thought I would start this thread so folks can check in and discuss how they're doing. I want all my BIC friends to be okay. I will kick this off with a first post. Take care of yourself lovelies.

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@GG84 I'm so sorry for your loss. IDK what to say.  Will say a prayer.

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

Yesterday the governor of NC announced he was delaying the next phase of reopening for 3 weeks and masks would be mandatory in public, with exceptions for people with medical conditions, kids under 12 and people walking or running alone. It's about dam* time. It only took explosively high numbers and comments from Anthony Fauci. The city my office is in issued their own order, which includes exceptions for individuals in private office buildings and if it is against someone's religion. Personally I think these exceptions are a crock. I was encouraged by this mandate though.

Yesterday my dog got sick. Bad GI thing. I've been giving her chicken and rice, per the vet. I ran out of rice and went to the dollar store across the street in hopes of getting rice there. The white rice was out of stock. I haven't been to the grocery store in 2 months but I went today because I love my dog. There was a huge banner out front stating that by statewide order, masks are required to be worn by both employees and customers. You couldn't not see it walking in. I would say 30% of the people there were still not wearing masks. I was upset and furious when I left. I was only inside for 10 minutes. I can't even communicate how upset I was. My sister said it's up to the store to enforce it and to call and complain. I was on hold waiting to and wanted to confirm it went into effect today but it turns out it's not until Friday, so I hung up. It doesn't matter to me that it's not official yet. Our governor and his heath secretary had a press conference yesterday urging people to wear masks. There was a huge sign proclaiming the requirement in front of the stote. If a person is willingly not wearing a mask until it will be enforced would be worse in mind. I was expecting ignorance tonight and wouldn't have been so upset if there wasn't a sign.

Last weekend I placed a curbside order for dinner from a restaurant. There were around 15 people outside, only 1 wearing a mask. I think the only mask was there for pickup. The occupancy sign on the door said 65. It was so busy they couldn't allow everyone in at once. I would not, given the rising numbers, go into a restaurant with 65 other people, almost none wearing masks.

People are crazy and/or ignorant as*holes who are apparently willing to die to go out to eat chicken wings.

I'll hide in my quiet apartment complex as long as I can.

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@sprocketta  Omg you’ve had quite the week!!!! I think things are opening way to fast. I wish things would slow down!! There’s 1 city in Canada that has made masks mandatory. I wish more places would do that too.

Poor puppy. I love that you made her chicken and rice. Hopefully it helped her recover fast!!!

Little man with his mask on!!Little man with his mask on!!

We have an appointment in the big city next week so I wanted to make sure we all had masks!!

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@ather she is big bouncing back @ather she got much worse Saturday and I thought I was going to lose her. Antibiotics and prescription food has made a huge difference. I haven't been anywhere public except for a grocery pickup order so I'm not sure if people are complying with the mask order or not.

You son is such a cutie! My 6 year-old nephew has a few masks of his own.

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@sprocketta  I’m so happy she’s feeling better! Was it just a stomach flu? My dog got that bad once and was on antibiotics and other meds. Poor guy was sick almost 2 weeks and wouldn’t eat the chicken and rice. I think if children under a certain age will wear a mask it’s for the best. But I get it if they won’t. Adults should be mandatory!

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@ather it's an intestinal infection. It was brought on by a pig ear. I've given them to her but this was a larger package and different brand. Never again!

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@sprocketta  Oh no. Yea my vet told me the same thing if they can’t eat it in one day they collect bacteria or something. I stopped giving my pup those. Plus they would get slimy and he would want to play fetch with it gross!

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

Oh my! It is both sad and precious to see little ones wearing masks. He is adorable @ather

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@ShortErica  Aww thanks! I think it’s best to be safe!!

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

Yes, caution is best @ather. We have only taken the boys out a couple times and they always wonder why some people aren't wearing their masks.

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@ShortErica  That’s awesome they notice it. We live in a super small town and we only had 1 case outside the area. We have been really lucky. I don’t see many people out wearing masks. I wish more would. But I think we have a false sense of safety. The big city is a little more scary to me. So we will be extra cautious when we are there. It’s the only thing we can do!

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

Somehow Illinois is onto Phase 4 of our reopening come Friday, which means among other things: museums, indoor dining, gyms, and retail can open with capacity limits and guidelines in place, and groups of 50 or fewer are allowed to meet. Salons were already open in Phase 3.

I know we're desperate to return to "normalcy," but this feels hugely premature to me. I'm gonna let other people be the guinea pigs and keep my butt at home or in wide open spaces like the lakefront 😷

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@tastelikewater  I totally agree. Stay safe!!!

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@tastelikewater My state was one of the early ones to start opening up. The county where our state capital is has partially gone back to stage 3. Closing bars back down. They had a huge spike recently.

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

I got really sad and angry in the wee hours of the morning this morning about something that happened to me last week that caused a ripple effect. Inherently, I online shop when this happens. I don’t wear or even like lipstick. I’m a liquid lipstick girl 100% however I’m now the owner of several PMG Matte Trance lipsticks. Why? Couldn’t tell you.

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@GG84  Oh no!! I totally do this too. Mostly with clothes in colours I never wear!!

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@GG84 I'm sorry to hear this, I hope things get better soon. I love my liquid lipsticks but really like the matte trances.

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@GG84 Ug, I'm so sorry, I hope your biopsy gets scheduled again soon! Also, summer coughs are a bummer, hope it passes quickly!!

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

@GG84 that's so scary about your biopsy. I would be furious and terrified. I am so sorry. Perhaps you can find someone on BIC to trade the PMG bullets for something you actually want.

Re: Health and Sanity Check-Ins

I am so sorry, @GG84. Praying this waiting period goes by quickly so you can get on with your life, relatively speaking. Everything is moving so slowly now, except the things you want to move faster! Hugs 🙂

I feel your pain @GG84
