Happy New Years everyone! ๐ฅณ ๐ฅ
With 2024 is coming to a close I wonder what everyone has on thier resolution list for 2025?
I think every year being more active is on my to do list, but this year I want to set some real goals and maybe get some inspiration and input for everyone here on BIC. Maybe writing it down will help us stay on track. ๐
What are you hoping to accomplish in 2025? Do you set resolutions for yourself, what have you been thinking? ๐ค๐
So I came up with a few new resolutions ideas for this year,
But I might add to this list, it's not finished yet.
โ
Tagging a few community members to chime maybe with some of thier resolution ideas for 2025 but anyone is welcome to share and contribute in any way they like.

@Shosh85...Girl, I love coffee. I'm am 60-90% coffee most days ๐
What helped me cut down is the cost of it ---- honestly. (I think most of my coffee budget is now directed at Sephora, ๐คฆ๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐คฃ, but that's another thing.) Seeing that you're looking towards home ownership is why I'm going into this. The cost was discovered because of a grad school project of spreadsheeting what your spend is for all your things....I think I had like three active store/loyalty memberships for coffee, I was also buying it and drinking it at work...I think I spent triple of what I THOUGHT I was spending/budgeting on it. I cut that down really quickly. I still drink it daily, but most of it is what I brew at home ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ
Then I ramped it back up, then Nugget came and the horror of one cup really kicked me in the tuckus. I'm back to two-three, but budget wise it's still better. Point is, find really cute mugs/tumblers or your own niche incentive and you'll cut down.
@danielledanielle 60-90%?.... haha! Yup, I totally feel ya on that one! The spreadsheet is such a great idea! Thanks so much for the tips and motivation!
I just started with baby steps. I definitely started drinking more coffee at home and going to Starbucks more after I had my kids. So first thing I did was cut back how many times I went to Starbucks- I slowly whittled it down from once a day to once a week. Currently, I'm only allowing myself Starbucks on special occasions, or if I happen to get a gift card ๐ Now I'm working on cutting back my coffee at home - not necessarily for the financial aspect of it, but because it has a tendency to affect my stomach if get too carried away - I've just noticed I feel better when I drink less ๐
@Shosh85Happy New Year! Thank you for sharing your goals for 2025. Cutting back sugar can be hard but I think it is totally achievable. Just being mindful and cutting little bits back at a time has helped me with this goal. I hear you on the drivers. I live in a heavily populated area and the driving habits of others have been getting increasingly worse. I try not to react and stay focused. Sometimes it upsets me a lot. I try not to let them get the best of me. All the best to saving for a home!
@Mellmars1185 I live in a very populated city as well and actually witness them pretty regularly. I've even been in a couple (that weren't my fault), caused by people simply being stupid and not paying attention.
Lately what's been helping me is just turning up and singing along to my music ๐ also, just reminding myself to breath. ๐ฎโ๐จ
@Shosh85, ahhhh, you have some outstanding goals for the year! I'm all for other drivers following the rules of the road ... or just having common sense. ๐
I read "drink less coffee" and I thought "ummm, how much less, Shosh?" ๐ I drink my coffee without anything in it and have cut back but I sure do love coffee. I treated myself to some of the specialty drinks this holiday season and I was surprised at how much it cost. Just think, cutting back on this is more $$$ toward your home! ๐ก
@itsfi Exactly, common sense! Unfortunately there are so many people who just don't use it!
Haha! Yup, the problem with me is I'm one of those people that like more milk/creamer and flavoring than actual coffee ๐ - which is even more unhealthy and definitely gets expensive!
@Shosh85 Best of luck with your home purchase! That's exciting. I also need to reduce my coffee intake.
@PrettyPaint Thank you so much! Coffee is definitely a hard one, especially when Starbucks offers such a wide variety of yummy drinks! โ๏ธ ๐
You have amazing goals you've been working toward @Shosh85 home ownership is huge! I'm totally rooting for you. You can do it! ๐ช๐ฉท
Aaah drinking less caffeine is hard, how do you keep yourself from grabbing that extra cup? โ
@CynthieLu It's actually not about the caffeine. It's more about how it makes me feel and the gut/bloating issues it causes. Plus all the sugar that's in it and the money involved to get it (I've spent way too much at Starbucks! But man, they're just so tasty๐)
To help me ween off I'm trying to switch to tea at home or even a sugar free caffeinated drink.
Ahh, Starbies is pricey but so yumm. I miss working there and the free yummy bevies. But your right, there is soooo much sugar in the tasty drinks. I think your idea of switching to tea or another beverage is a solid approach. What tea's do you like or are you in search of the perfect cup? @Shosh85
I try to limit caffeine, it gives me an awful sleep if I have coffee in the afternoons so I try to cut myself off around noon.
@CynthieLu I'm still in search of the perfect drink ๐ I really like the fruity teas and green tea - and a girl at the therapy my kids go to makes me a London Fog every once in awhile that I really enjoy ๐ I haven't cut out Starbucks completely- I just try to limit myself to special occasions only. For awhile I was visiting Starbucks daily to the point that the employees knew my name and the drinks I ordered ๐
I didn't know you use to work at Starbucks! Seems like a fun job, but definitely dangerous ๐
@Shosh85 @CynthieLu I worked at Starbucks for 3 years if you ever need a drink idea Iโm your gal haha ๐คฃ but definatley agree before noon cutoff is so important it gets you wired if itโs too late smart thinking
Now I'm curious, what are your favorite drinks from there @peculiarzmakeup @Shosh85 ??
The London Fog at Starbies has a vanilla syrup base if I remember correctly, one we barista's liked at our place was switching the syrup to the Brown Sugar one, it made it taste like a bobba tea. โ๐
@CynthieLu @peculiarzmakeup The Caramel Apple Spice has been my most favorite non-caffeinated drink for years! Oh, it's so good!
I used to always get a Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha, but then they stopped carrying the raspberry syrup, so that bummed me out. I'm a huge fan of really anything with caramel- so I get Caramel White Mochas, Caramel Macchiatos and Caramel Frappuccinos pretty regularly.
I've actually never ordered a London Fog from Starbucks before... I didn't even know it existed until the girl at my boys' therapy clinic made one for me ๐๐
Ahhh yes the London fog I forgot what that was it just clicked! Carmel is a great one I feel like anything with Carmel is so good. I know the raspberry syrup was a bummer, I never see the Carmel apple spice on the menu anymore but itโs kinda like if you know you know haha ๐ซถ๐ซถ๐ซถ @Shosh85
Love this question @CynthieLu honestly out of all the drinks and seasonal flavors I just love the iced passion tea with a splash of lemonade sweetened with liquid cane! Itโs so refreshing I always crave it! Iโm not much of a coffee drinker haha itโs so ironic and the hot teas with a little steamed milk!
ooo and love Carmel ribbon crunch Frappuccino
and an all time fave is Carmel apple spice
I used to just eat whipped cream and their Carmel we had to make the whipped cream I would always have a little cup under the coffee station. What about you? ๐
Ahhh these are yummy. We used to cut open croissants and put a tiny bit of carmel drizzle, chocolate drizzle and cinnamon dolce topping on it, and run it through the oven. It was heavenly. Did you ever play around with the food?
Ooh I was a pistachio girl through and through. It was my all time fave. ๐ @peculiarzmakeup
Now that sounds fantastic! I think my most creative was the cheese danish again with my fave whipped cream and Carmel haha ๐คฃ but I remember testing out like every drink and trying to make new recipies they probably werenโt great tho because I forgot them! My grandma is like known at Starbucks she goes twice a day and they make her drink when they see her car they give her freebies alot specially cause a lot of them know I used to work there but I would say more cause sheโs a beautiful person ๐ @CynthieLu
Happy new year, @Shosh85 ! ๐๐๐ฅณ
You mean the traffic/road rules aren't there just for me??? ๐คฃ
When I bought my condo, it was the best thing ever! ๐ก Best wishes with this goal!
Thank you, @Titian06! Happy New Year to you too! ๐
The worst is when I see people swerving into my lane and I look over and they're on their phone or texting... why is it so hard to put your damn phone down and pay attention to the road?!! ๐คฌ (I'm not sure if this is in every state, but in Oregon it's actually illegal to use a phone while driving)
