Yes, Fall is here but isn't "spooky" an all year round celebration?
๐
So, come on in, pull up your coffin and share with us your favorite oogly, boogly things.
May they be beauty, food or costume related. All spookiness welcome, we'd be elated!
So, walk, run or drag your soul here & don't be shy, share your dark cheer!
**Ok, seriously, there are guidelines in the forum. So please don't post anything inappropriate or gory. That's not the vibe we're aiming for. Cool?**
Oh man, I would definitely have my eyes covered the whole time, while I was peeing my pants if I tried to watch either of those! You are a brave soul.
Nightmare before Christmas and all of the SAW movies
The original Carrie, the original Halloween, the original Alien, the Exorcist, the Omen. All scary. Some bloodier than others. All classics.
For funny scary I love the Cornetto trilogy: Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and World's End. Language is rough, be forewarned
For a great funny yet not movie, Fargo Oh! And Young Frankenstein!
I like silly comedy Halloween movies. My 2 favorites are Love at First Bite with George Hamilton and Dead and Loving It (Mel Brooks movie) with Leslie Nielsen. Both Dracula movies, both silly.
ooh, I love the classics. I recommend Cat People (both 1942 and 1982), Spider Baby, Mystery of the Wax Museum, Gothic, Eyes Without a Face, The Wicker Man (1973), The Seventh Victim, White Zombie, House (Hausu), The Hunger, The Fearless Vampire Killers, Black Sunday, Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, and I Walked with a Zombie
Those sound right up my alley!
@snoflakefaerie Well my list might be a bit much for some of you. Because I like to be scared! Like can't sleep at night, hearing noises in the house SCARED. It's sick, I know, but it's like riding a roller coaster to me, I like the adrenaline rush. I'm not a fan of gore but a couple of these push the limit. So in no particular order, here they are:
1. The Exorcist - still gives me goosebumps every time I see it
2. Nosferatu - OG creepiness
3. Dracula - OG, not that 90's abomination
4. Suspiria - not terribly scary to me, a bit gory, but the setwork and cinematography are stunning and it's a fav
5. Poltergeist - the clown and the tree still freak me out
6. Paranormal Activity 1, 2 and 3 - couldn't sleep for a week after the first one!
7. The Comfort of Strangers - not considered horror, billed as a drama set in Venice, but absolutely not for the weak of heart. Stars Christopher Walken, Helen Mirren and Natasha Richardson. Has an ending that freaked me out for a very long time.
8. The Creature From the Black Lagoon - first movie that ever scared me as a kid and I still love it
9. The Omen - OG
10. Nightmare on Elm Street - first time I saw it, couldn't sleep for a straight week LOL
11. The Fourth Kind - if you haven't seen it or heard about it, but you like scary alien stuff, watch it! Don't read up on it. There is no gore at all. I don't want to give anything away but this one shook me
12. The Shining
Ok that's enough terror for one night. On a strictly Halloween note, I love my cute Halloween stuff too. Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown (and even all of the stupid sequels) get played non-stop in my house during October.
@pixiedust2 You're brave to watch paranormal activity, I watched the first one and had nightmares for like 4 yrs. nope I can't do it ๐
@pixiedust2 Thank you! I've only seen a few from this list, and there are a few more I've never even heard of!
@lmi82 that image is everything!
Ha ha ha ๐
Aww, poor pup! ๐
I see both but saw young witch first. We used to do this kind of positive space, negative space stuff all the time in art school
I can still only see the old witch! ๐
@lmi82 I still cannot for the life of me see the old witch!
Haha! Take a look at Zombie's picture (the one with the labels), @gonerogue. The ear of the young witch is the old one's eye. The chin of the young witch is the tip of the old one's nose. Also, the black line that's going across the young witch's neck is the old witch's mouth. Hopefully, that helps! ๐
@lmi82 Ooooh! Makes so much sense now! The eye in the ear gave it away. I have to admit that took me a while! Thanks for the hint!!
No problem, @gonerogue. ๐
@lmi82 she's looking over her right shoulder...pretend someone called her and all you see now is her profile
