EXTRA prompts: I'll post these as they come to me...
-What traditions of yester-year do you feel have disappeared? (It could be anything from a decorating style to something your family used to do, to something you've only read about in books.)
-What holiday creatures and critters do you just adore? (Elves, reindeer, Mrs. Claus?)
-Do you have a story about a last minute gift?
-Do you have any holiday collections? (Snowmen, angels, particular ornaments?)
-When do you "know" it's the holidays?
@greeneyedgirl107 the majority of cards I receive are family photo-type cards, so I did not include those. Here are a few of the standard cards 🎄
@eshoe How lovely! What a beautiful assortment. Isn't it fun to see the variety? I'm curious, do you friends/family tend to write much on the inside? I used to always try to write a couple sentences, and definitely more for some people. Unfortunately I've been so tired these last few Christmases that I've decreased that. Have you sent out all your cards? I feel like I've done 60%. I really need to get moving!
Yes, @greeneyedgirl107! Just placing all of the cards out was visually pleasing. I did discover two duplicates, which when I opened, found one was from a neighbor and the other from my father-in-law and great-grandmother (I guess they shared the card box that year!).
I am sorry to hear that you have been so tired. It is an effort to send out cards and catalogue who you have sent them to/received them from. I used to have a little book just for that, it was very helpful.
I did not send cards this year. It s the first year I haven't in many years. I commend you for keeping up the tradition! It is wonderful to receive them, especially with a handwritten note inside. I read a few when I was putting those cards from the picture away, and found myself appreciating it much more this year.
Good luck on finishing your cards, by the sound of it, I am guessing you write a little something in each one 😉
@eshoe What a sweet way to connect your family members!
It has been the only way for some over the past few years @Ispend2much6
How sweet and thoughtful of you, @eshoe ! 😘
There are just so many little ones at this point that we never even meet in person, @Titian06. It is nice to have a point of reference, you know?
December 12: What kind of cards do you send out? What kind do you like receiving? None. Ones with glitter on the outside and money on the inside! 😁
@Titian06 That made me laugh!
@Ispend2much6 - I received a bulky envelope yesterday. When I opened it, it was a glittery Christmas card! Ooooo--who sent me bling with something in it? Then I opened it...a magnetic 2023 calendar from my life insurance agent! How practical, but so disappointing. 🤣
@Titian06 Sounds like you had a roller coaster of emotions! On the plus side, sounds like your agent thinks you're healthy enough to be around for another year. 🙂
December 12: What kind of cards do you send out? What kind do you like receiving?
I like to buy vintage-type Christmas cards. The kind I like to receive are ones with gift cards or money in them. I'll never outgrow that. 😂
Cavallini is a favorite brand (that company made the red snowman and some of the other cards.)
Please excuse the extra props- it's baking season. 🍪
@Ispend2much6 vintage cards are my FAVE!!!
@greeneyedgirl107 I thought I remembered that about you! I mean, I remember someone liked these, and was pretty sure it was you.
@Ispend2much6 lol! I sent my dad a vintage inspired card, and he sd how he loves the "old timey" cards.
When do you "know" it's the holidays?
