This is a special area for us to talk about all the fun of the season.  No matter what you celebrate or how, we want to share it!  This is a thread inspired by those of veronika23 from yesteryear.  You can post about beauty, memories, traditions or anything you want.

I'd like to continue with the idea of having a prompt for each day.  Feel free to post as often as you'd like...and to add your own prompts.

December 9: What was the best gift you ever received?  What gift was the best you ever gave?  I couldn't think of anything until I read @Ispend2much6 's answer:  The best gift I received was a model of a Ferrari that my brother made.  Yes, we're talking 1980s and Magnum PI!  The best gift(s) I've given are those I've made--crocheted afghans, hats, scarves, Christmas stockings, things like that.  People always seem so thrilled that I actually made the item!

December 10: What kind of greeting cards are your favorite to send...and to receive?  I haven't sent cards in decades.  My favorite to receive is always from my mom.  She goes on a massive search for that one card that wishes both a merry Christmas and a happy birthday!  Thanks, Mom!  ❤❤❤

@Titian06 I am envious of your crochet skills!  I spent hours last weekend learning how to do a magic circle so I could crochet an owl hat for my daughter. 

Ahhhh Magnum PI. Knight Rider was all the rage too, I think 😉 Very cool and thoughtful gift from your brother, the fact that he spent time putting something together for you is pretty special.

Homemade gifts really are some of the best, @Titian06. I love receiving something that I know the giver has spent so much time and effort on.

Thanks, @quspork , that's nice to know!  For me, the fun is making the items.  I'd rather give them away as gifts or to charity than have them sit around in my closet!  😄

December 9: What was the best gift you ever received?  What gift was the best you ever gave?

Last year we my boys, on their own, chose some old movies for my Christmas gift.  It was so cute- they actually chose two I had not ever heard of, much less seen.  They were a little surprised that one of them, which seemed like a Christmas movie on the cover, was actually about the time when Germany began to embrace Hitler.  The movie showed how the Jewish Germans were shunned and extrapolated from their lives, and some being put in prison. The movie also had some murders and suicides, so not a cheery movie but it led to some good discussions.

The best gift I gave that I can think of is giving my son a key chain that was made in the shape of his dream car.  I wanted to give him something tangible to remind him of his dream as he worked towards achieving it.  That summer he bought it!

December 10: What kind of greeting cards are your favorite to send...and to receive?  I rarely send cards, sad to say.  But my favorite card manufacturer is Cavallini.  Or any retro or antique-type card.  This year I have these to send:

@eshoe  Me too!  I have many fond memories of taking my son in there to look for the latest superhero comics. 🙂  And of coffee.

And cookies @Ispend2much6. You can’t pass that up with the freebies they give every time you make a purchase 🤦🏻‍♀️ At least I couldn’t!

Their receipts usually have a free cookie or bogo from the Starbucks inside, @Ispend2much6. At least mine did. I haven’t even checked my receipts the past few times, but I used to really enjoy sitting down with my daughter there to look through whatever we had just purchased. She would always remark that it was ‘the BEST day ever.’ I miss those days!!

@eshoe   Aww, I want to cry!  I know, I know.  But, the upside is my son is now old enough to enjoy coffee with me, and out-drinks me with it. 

But that time when they're so full of innocent enthusiasm is great.

I love how you call it ‘innocent enthusiasm.’ That is the best way to describe it, and there isn’t much better than it in those days.

December 9: What was the best gift you ever received?  The first year my now husband and I were together he got me my first faerie figurine.

What gift was the best you ever gave?  Our kids trip to Disney World.

What a sweet beginning, @faeriegirl! Is there a particular line you collect?

@eshoe  No particular line.  I’ve gotten most of them online at Fairyglen. The one in the middle is the first one he got me.
