Some of us here have expressed an interest in a book club, myself, @mermadelove, @LCResz, @ZombieMetroAnt, @Mcakes. If you'd be interested in joining, reply below. My initial thought was to mail the books around but if it means that some people can't participate, then I'm all for dropping that requirement. I'd love this to be a place where we nominate our favorite book and others can read it and comment. Something fun for the new year! ETA: the booklist:

It is a wonderful book, Very well written. All the characters are beautifully developed. The life choices made by characters are also very expertly presented in a way that doesn’t pass any moral judgement.
While discussing this book, that is what I expect from this group of lovely ladies. Let’s stay focused on how the book is written and not get into the discussion of “which character made right or wrong choice” Avoid bringing up the discussion over, or presenting our personal opinion on the matter related to the aspects of motherhood discussed in the book.
This is a public forum and things can get really ugly if one person makes a careless comment ( has happened in past). This is very much possible we have community members who relate to the story in one way or other. We don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
So let’s get started !
I Love this book. I’m greatly impressed by the grip of writer on the subject and how beautifully she touched many subjects without getting them jumbled up. So much so that I can’t resist the urge to read her other book and just placed a hold on put hold on
”Everything I never told you” as well.
Good read!
At first the focus on the dynamic among the kids made me wonder if the book was actually 'young adult' and I wasn't sure if it would keep me on board. I was surprised by how much the story evolved to be about women, and specifically about choices around motherhood. Interesting character development and back stories, and great juxtaposition of different classes, lifestyles, and hands being dealt in life.
I'm really excited to see others' thoughts! Great pick 🤓
I really appreciated the way the story allowed the female characters to be flawed and at times unlikeable. We’ve seen this trend so much with men (+some with women, mostly in thrillers like Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train)
i liked how the author let these characters feel a little more authentic. They were petty, selfish, conflicted and yet made decisions from a place that felt good and pretty true to character. The author’s understanding of character and her world-building really enriched the story for me. This one would have languished for a while on my ‘to-read’ list without the book club. Great discussion so far!!
Absolutely agree about the well rounded characters @heylady14. They were all much more complex that I initially thought in the early chapters in the book. The plot was good, but the character development is what really kept me hooked.
Oh a book club!!!! I wanna play! I need to buy some books for my kindle it appears!
Hearing y’all talk about Little Fires Everywhere has me intrigued! If I can catch up this week, do y’all mind if I crash your discussion?💙
@Tamara76 Girl! You know we want you to join us whenever you can!!! xoxoxoxo ❤️
Awww - Thank you, @mermadelove! Can’t wait to catch up with y’all - love this book!💗
Thanks, @PrettyPaint! Can't wait to discuss it with y'all! ❤️
Yay! Thanks for including me so late in the game, @Titian06! I have time carved out to keep reading tonight, so I hope I make the deadline - I am in love with Celeste Ng's writing style already!!! ❤️
Oh YAY!!! This is great
I'm half way through (EEK!) and should be finished by our deadline. This is SO exciting - can't wait for the discussions to commence.
Thank you, @ZombieMetroAnt!!!! I'm about a third of the way through and I don't want to put it down - Feeling so nostalgic for the '90s!!!! ❤️
I have at least two weeks until I get “Murder on the Orient express” from the library. Since next book “Great Gatsby” is available right now, so would it be cheating if I read that first? I’m sure I’ll catch up with you guys on the Orient express before everyone finishes it.
I thought we were reading "Little Fires"? ARe we reading and discussing both come Feb 2? @prettyinpa
@mermadelove I finished “Little fires everywhere” about a week ago. Since I do need to read something at night (old habit) and Great Gatsby is available at the moment and might not be available later, so I was referring to read it in advance and hopefully get to the orient train when the group will be reading it.
We are supposed to finish and discuss only “Little fires everywhere “ by Feb 2. I’m sorry for the confusion I may have caused.
