Some of us here have expressed an interest in a book club, myself, @mermadelove, @LCResz, @ZombieMetroAnt, @Mcakes. If you'd be interested in joining, reply below. My initial thought was to mail the books around but if it means that some people can't participate, then I'm all for dropping that requirement. I'd love this to be a place where we nominate our favorite book and others can read it and comment. Something fun for the new year! ETA: the booklist:

@quspork @prettyinpa - I really liked What Happened. I don't watch the news either. The book seemed balanced and fair while answering the pertinent questions. I liked Hillary's writing style; she comes across as personable and caring.
I didn't think I would like The Hate U Give when I was looking into what it was about. I was hooked after the first paragraph. It's an excellent book. I think reading both of these books at the same time only reinforced each other. @prettyinpa, what do you not understand? Starr wanting to be anonymous and not vocal or questioning her relationship with Chris or something else like her mom and dad?
@Titian06- I guess maybe the teenage angst aspect of it. It seemed like maybe she was overdramatizing some parts of her life.
@prettyinpa - I think the author felt Starr had to question the other aspects of her life if she was going to become a vocal, public figure for Khalil.
@prettyinpa - I just got The Hate U Give. Now I have this plus What Happened and Fall of Giants. I'm going to read The Hate U Give first since it took so long to get; I don't want to take any chances here (it's around 470 pages). I'll read What Happened second (and probably concurrently) since I've started this one and it wasn't difficult to get. I haven't started Fall of Giants yet and it wasn't difficult to get, so that will be third. Decisions, decisions!
@prettyinpa - My loan for What Happened expires in 6 hrs. I've only read 20% of the book. I put another hold on the book, but there's someone ahead of me for the one copy. It may be 21 days before I get the book back.
I'm up to No. 5 for The Hate You Give. December's looking pretty good on that one.
I went ahead and borrowed Fall of Giants since it's available and I have unexpected (ha, ha) time now. I then saw it's over 800 pages! Good thing this is a holiday weekend!
@Titian06- That's ok, I'm only about 30% through myself. It's not a fast read like the fiction we've been reading lately and I've been busy with work so not a lot of spare time. Go ahead and read Fall of Giants. I'll have to see if it's even available through my library, if I have to use interlibrary loan, that can take awhile.

Welcome, @TypeATina! We are in the process of 3 books since The Hate U Give is being difficult for members to get from their libraries. We are discussing Never Let Me Go and reading What Happened by Hilary Clinton. I'm starting a new thread for each discussion and posting the links here- members thought this would be easier.
Just finished Never Let Me Go, separate thread started. I also got The Hate U Give and started on that but if everyone else is still waiting, let's decide whether we want to skip ahead again.
ETA: I finished The Hate U Give today, it was a quick read on a lazy Sunday. But I can wait indefinitely for you others to get your copies. I'm going to start the Hilary Clinton book since I've got nothing else to read.
@prettyinpa - I have Never Let Me Go, but I haven't started yet. My motivation is lacking.
I'm No. 43 on The Hate You Give, so I won't be getting that any time soon.
I definitely want to read What Happened. I'm No. 1 for 1 book.
Ok, @Titian06, since you seem to be my only consistent follower, we can start reading What Happened, and when you finish Never Let Me Go, let me know and we can start discussing that one. Also let me know when (if ever, lol) you get The Hate U Give.
This sounds good to me, @prettyinpa. I'm really enjoying reading all these books so your stuck with me!
I've been enjoying reading the books too, @Titian06. When I was looking for the HRC book in the library this AM, I had to have help because it wasn't where I thought it would be. The librarian showed me a whole section that I've never been in, the "92's" which is all these cool biographies. So I got my horizons broadened by this book club. In addition to hearing other people's opinions on the books.
@prettyinpa - I am No. 61 on the wait list for four copies of The Hate U Give. I don't know how soon I'll get the book. I'll let you know once I do.
@Titian06- I'm #23! If it's alright with everyone, lets skip ahead to the next book Never Let Me Go. That way we can kinda kick the can down the road and hopefully by the time we're finished with that one, we can do The Hate U Give.
I've been MIA on the BIC for a while, but will get back in the game for Never Let Me Go
Look forward to discussing soon @prettyinpa!
@prettyinpa - This sounds like a good idea. For Never Let Me Go, I'm No. 1 on the wait list for three copies. A book can be checked out for 21 days, so I should have this book in a couple of weeks.
@Titian06- My copy should be available Saturday, so at least this time I won't be held up by the library, lol.
