Some of us here have expressed an interest in a book club, myself, @mermadelove, @LCResz, @ZombieMetroAnt, @Mcakes. If you'd be interested in joining, reply below. My initial thought was to mail the books around but if it means that some people can't participate, then I'm all for dropping that requirement. I'd love this to be a place where we nominate our favorite book and others can read it and comment. Something fun for the new year! ETA: the booklist:

Thank you so much @prettyinpa and @skcfan for organizing this!
@prettyinpa @skcfan Thanks for ding this!!! Do you want us to fill all ten slots???
Sorry, @mermadelove and other participants, feel free to fill out as many of the 10 slots as you wish, I personally am having a hard time coming up with 10, but it's better to have more slots than less if someone has a big list.
@mermadelove I don’t think you need to fill all 10...I just didn’t want to make it too short.
I'll try to fit as many "book club friendly" suggestions I can on my list! I tend to read non-fiction, usually about psychology or human nature and behavior in some way, shape, or form, but those aren't interesting to everybody haha. I still might sneak Freakomonics on the list though 😋
@alexasteph haha, that's me! I read almost exclusively non-fiction, lots of econ, business, and pub policy. I can just picture the book club looking at my list...zzzzzzzzzz...
If you liked Freakanomics, another good read (though it's probably a bit dated by now) is Naked Economics by Wheelan.
@MissPuff Me too! Haha. I also read books about decision making, the brain, etc. A lot of that ties in to behavioral economics, as well as traditional economics and psychology. Unless you're interested in those topics, they can be quite boring! I haven't heard of Naked Economics, I'll look it up!
@alexasteph @MissPuff Heh, this describes 90% of the books I've spent money on in the last three years! I'm kind of a Richard Thaler fangirl so in a weird way I guess it makes sense that my new hobby is to hang out on BIC constantly 🤓
Hi @prettyinpa and others. Let me know if you will allow me to participate in a really low-key, slacker type way? I would like to do it but I know this years going to be crazy at times. I’m a huge reader but haven’t picked up much new lately on the kindle and have been re-reading favorites. Anyway, thought I’d ask but don’t want to annoy people if I can’t always join in! Let me know what you think, thanks!
I'm also going to be more of a casual participant @sister13, I have a long list of books I want to read myself too, so I'm going to participate here and there!
Slackers welcome, I'll send you the link. Please don't feel bad, I'm probably going to be much busier than usual when I can walk without crutches and catch up with all the stuff that's sliding worse than a cow on ice!
skcfan set up a Google Form for me to edit, that we all can use, thanks so much for her help! I'll do any editing I need to and send you all the link tomorrow. Happy New Years Eve Eve!!
Hi guys, is there room for one more? I finally had enough of a break to read some books and I've missed reading for fun.
I'm more of a LibraryThing than GoodReads user. I understand it's not as popular & free as GoodReads, but I'm rather settled at LT and don't know if I can transfer my library over to GR.
I heart LibraryThing! I've had an account there since 2005. ❤ 📚
It looks like Goodreads has access to your email address book to let you know who's on. I'm not comfortable with sharing my address book, I feel that's intrusive, so I vote no.
