Thank you @MariekeBT!!  Oddly purples didn't scare me quite as much as this blue did.  I think I began dabbling in purples by replacing the dark brown in my outer corner with a deep purple from Make Up For Ever.  After that it was history; purple is now one of my favorite ways to jazz up my day-to-day eye looks.
