I've read several reviews on these that said they dry out your lips and end up gross looking. Have you found that to be true?

SD, I personally don't find them drying or gross looking after extended wear.  I've worn them for 5-6 hours comfortably (with eating and drinking) without having to reapply.  If I've eaten something particularly greasy, I need to reapply, but otherwise, I'm good.

That being said, I always prime my lips with balm about 15 minutes before I apply any matte liquid lipstick, so that probably helps.

the stila liquid lipsticks have been around for a long while before any sort of matte / liquid lipstick trend. i feel like being loyal. 😉

I so agree with you on this.

I was very happy with the formula once I tried it, so I haven't wanted to look elsewhere.

I have 4, but I've swatched all 10 that sephora carries at one point.  Am now curious if there are more than 10... *runs to Stila website*
