Woah!!! 😍 This is an inspiring hair care travel essentials @ather! 👏 Hair care is one of the categories where I tend towards less products but yours is definitely something I should work towards. Making notes. 🗒 I think I took more hair ties and clips with me than you have total products. 😂🤣😂 Okay, going to try for minimalism when it comes to packing for my next non-business trip.
@itsfi Omg really. I guess I should maybe include more! I didn’t think about what happened if I lost my one and only scrunchie! I guess I like to live on the wild side! When I went to Mexico this is all I brought. Same when I go to the city! I try and pack light I guess. 🤣
Oh my goodness @ather, I didn’t mean to suggest that at all. So sorry; poor wording on my part. 😬 I often misplace my hair ties so having multiple on hand is a good thing for me. I am sure you are better at keeping hold of your scrunchies. If one works for you, by all means stick to the one. 👍🏼
I think it’s awesome that you pack lightly!! My “lightly” is only such based on what I “could have” brought with me. Or, based on what I originally had packed. 😆 You know how they say pack and then take out 1/3rd? I probably need to do that twice - rinse and repeat, as it were. 🤪 Oh, and I add an extra scrunchie each time. Ha!
@itsfi Nooo don’t feel bad. Your recommendation is amazing. I should be packing extras! What happens if I loose it or it breaks. I will be one sad girl!
Omg I love that you over pack and keep adding scrunchies! Do you have a favourite brand? My hair has been going from short to long to still long so depending on length it depends if I can even put it up! I like claw clips but they seem to give me a headache. I think I need to keep trying maybe?
Oh, good question 🤔 I like the Slip Medium Slipsilk™ Scrunchies - they also have larger and smaller sizes which is helpful depending on my hair needs. Innisfree gave out scrunchies as promo at SEPHORiA last year and those were / are fantastic.
Claw clips are great but yes, they can give me a headache. Most of my claw clips are truly oldies but goodies and go back to the ones I used during my high school or college days. 😲 I find I’m prone to headaches with them when I wear them too close to my scalp and/or the top of my head (vs the back of my head and when I wear them more loosely).
I’m also finding that, as I’ve gotten older (and my hair thinner), smaller clips are something I can reach for now. This one I was gifted from a friend and I love it. ♥️ It was put to good use when I was on vacation.
How do you like the Ouai Leave in conditioner in the travel size? The bottle is really difficult for me to use so I'm curious if you have any problems with it as well!
@Kayte2 I’m having no issues with it. I think this is my 3-4 travel size and I’ve also had a few of the full size too. I really enjoy it!
Travel Essentials: The Wellness Edit
These are examples of items I tend to pack to help me keep on top of my self-care while I'm traveling, be it for work or play, I took most of these products with me on my most recent trip - The Travel Beauty Thread
📚 Non-technical, non-work-related books are a good form of self-care for me. I often include a book in my carry-on, but on this most recent vacation, I brought my Kindle - takes up little space, offers a lot of options.
🌹 Gucci Brume de Beauté Beauty Mist 2.7 oz / 80 mL 🐐 is a multi-tasker - it can serve as a referesher, toner or setting spray. I transfer the product to a travel-sized spritz bottle and use as needed.
💟 Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Find Comfort Stop & Soothe Aromatherapy Pen 0.16 oz / 5 mL is so convenient. I carry it in my pocket or backpack, taking it out to inhale the calming and invorigating blend of lavender and peppermint whenever I need.
💊 SEPHORA COLLECTION Supplement Case is great for keeping my daily vitamins and supplements, and advil, in one place.
🌻 Hair ties, clips are always nice to have on hand, to keep my hair off my face
💋 A lip balm with SPF is a must have for me - this Hello Sunday The One For Your Lips SPF 50 Hydrating Lip Balm with Hyaluronic Acid & Squalane 0.5 fl ... has a soft strawberry scent too!
😍 Gotta have Touchland Power Mist Hydrating Hand Sanitizer with me 🐐; went with Touchland Power Mist Hydrating Hand Sanitizer Wild Watermelon 🍉 this time!
🥗 8 Greens tablets are a quick, easy and convenient way to get in extra greens when traveling. Sephora used to carry these a few years back; that's how I first learned about these supplements.
📓 Journaling has been a great way for me to pause. Some weeks I journal every day; other weeks maybe once. It's been a practice I try to do regularly for decades, sometimes jotting things down to reduce stress, other times to help spark creatively or memoralize ideas. This particular notebook, a gift from a dear friend, includes post-its, which come in handy.
@itsfi I love this wellness edition! I might need to steal this idea! I tend to worry about everyone else and I have never thought to pack things for my own self care. I guess I do bring masks. So it counts but I love that you bring a journal to help ground yourself and take a few minutes to yourself! I also enjoy bringing my kindle so I can read! I will have to add it to my packing list. I don’t think I brought it last time! Such a great list of items to bring!!
@ather, maybe when you pack something fun for your son, pack one fun or self care thing for yourself. Something for the kiddo, something for you. Or, pack a couple foot masks, for you and your husband. I suspect you’ll still have more things for everyone else but you’ll at least have a couple of things for yourself.
Packing a journal has been a nice way to memorialize memories and to provide some “me time” for yourself. Sometimes it’s the actual journal I’m using; other times, if I’m already overpacked, I’ll bring a small, mini notepad. Or, even a few index cards and I’ll just jot down a few things on the card each day. I’ve even used the little notepads in the hotel room, or gone to the gift shop to pick up a few postcards to write on - that can make it even more memorable when jotting down thoughts or things I’m grateful for.
@itsfi That is such a great idea! You are such a great writer also! Your posts are always inspiring and perfectly written!
Love your selections, a kindle is such an amazing idea for having a variety of books in one place.
I love the idea of having products in the travel kit that can serve multiple purposes and are transferable to travel containers. Your list is very well thought out for occasions, I always forget hair ties, it’s so good to keep these things in mind. Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Find Comfort Stop & Soothe Aromatherapy Pen 0.16 oz / 5 mL is definatley so soothing. What an incredible and thoughtful gift from your friend.
Love reading what helps other people when planning travels.
❤️☀️
I’m forever misplacing hair ties @peculiarzmakeup. Eventually I will find a few at the bottom of my handbag or in a pocket, usually with some lip balm or lip gloss. 😝
Such a great thread @itsfi
I travel to the same place a few times a year to visit family so it helps a bit with essentials because I can ask myself what is there. I usually pack minis! And makeup items that are in my makeup capsule.

Narrow it down to one bronzer (🤩)

Tatcha The Kissu Lip Tint SPF 25 Hydrating Tinted Lip Sunscreen

@peculiarzmakeup, what a fab group of travel essentials. Love how straightforward your must haves are - those are some beautiful skincare products too! 😍
Thank you! @itsfi
Creating capsules really helps me envision what I use on a daily basis and helps curate this travel
kit. 😊
@jaaayp Ooooo where are you going to on this trip? Is it the cruise? I can’t wait to see what you bring. I’m going on a small family vacation in 2 weeks not to far only 3 hours away but I will really check what I bring! I think I’m minimalist but we shall see!
Yesss! It's the cruise! Although, being that it'll be chilly, I may need to pack a little heavier than usual so my skin isn't all dried out and sad @ather im excited to see your pack!
@jaaayp Ooooo yay! Excited your on your cruise! With your mom right! So fun!! I can’t wait to hear all about it. Hmmmm cooler. That’s no fun! Maybe it will warm up!
