Full disclaimer - I'm really bad at packing! When I most recently traveled, I mainly grabbed from my stash of samples to bring. This worked really well in terms of mini moisturizers, shampoo/conditioner, etc. For makeup, I happened to have several products that were nearing empty or close to time to toss (mascara, etc.) or things that I wanted to get rid of, so I was able to toss a lot of stuff at the end of the trip before going home. I'm probably just weird, but I didn't want to bring many of my favorite products for fear of losing/breaking them or feeling like they were dirty from hotel bathrooms, etc.
@PrettyPaint Great job! I love your idea to bring things that are almost done!!!
@PrettyPaint I appreciate your honesty. I can totally relate to not wanting to bring newer items. It also makes extra room for packing on the way home if you leave the empties/used products. I wouldn't want to ruin anything special or brand new. Thanks for the idea! I know I have some open minis that would be great for my next trip 😀
@Mellmars1185 That's a great point about being able to clear up suitcase space at the end of the trip. I ALWAYS manage to make a few purchases when traveling.
@PrettyPaint, that is not weird at all!! I’m always a little hesitant about bringing my faves, but I try to find workarounds, if I can. Mainly in the form of deluxe samples or mini’s of my faves.
Smart on taking near-empty products - you have an idea of how they perform and you get that much closer to finishing them! Win-win! 🙌🏼
I hope you enjoyed your most recent travels. Was it someplace warm or cool?
@itsfi It was warm-ish (70s), but that's a lot cooler than I'm used to so it seemed cold! 🙂
@itsfi I pack like I'm moving I swear...and then I never use like any of it haha.
@Samtian I understand! I went camping for the first time this year and we packed too much 😅. We are going again next week so I am challenging myself to bring less. But skincare is a must!!
@Samtian preach!!!
Lol @missjeanie @Samtian same! 🤣
Hahahaha @Samtian! That’s me when it comes to skincare, especially SPF, when my travels are for personal and not business reasons. But I do use my SPF, I just don’t use everything I bring. I may have gone slightly overboard with the sunblock on this trip 😂
lol, I could have packed a few more folks and I'd still have leftover sunblock @Samtian. 🤣
@itsfi Love this! Travel is where my GWP's tend to shine. I'll often place an order if I see a good GWP for my travel stash. I also love the holiday season when value kits tend to make a more prominent appearance for the same purpose. I'm going away this weekend so I'll have to take note of what I end up stashing into a make up bag!
@missjeanie Holiday sets are such a great idea for travel! Sometimes I wonder if I should travel more to use up all of my foils and minis?! I hope you have a lovely weekend away!
@Mellmars1185 I think this is a FANTASTIC reason to travel more often!
GWP's make great travel buddies. @missjeanie 😀. Small enough to not take a lot of space, and when it's smaller it means you can pack more things, right? 😉
@CynthieLu Yes! I love the smaller sizes so that I can fit a routine into my bag without having to take an entire extra suitcase to fit everything.
Yes, yes, yes @missjeanie! Makeup, skincare, hair care, bath & body, nail care, etc. If it's part of your travel squad (or if it's not - i.e., you use what is provided by hotel), I'd love to know. I'm hoping to come up with staples / essentials that will just be automatic for me to reach for when packing - certainly some depends on where I'm going and when, but I'm interested in learning about everyone's travel must haves. I've gottten good and packing a lot of stuff with me - what a surprise! - but am aiming to go for a more minimalist approach here, with a travel essentials capsule, if you will. 🛅
Hope you have a fabulous trip!
@itsfi I will say... minimalism isn't my forte. I'm working on it... but I always worry 'what if I need to rock a smokey/glittery eye with my high heels' on a beach vacation. I'm working on it though... I'm working on it!
