The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

I'm making this thread because I simply don't want to create a new thread for every little question that pops into my head, nor do I think that most questions need a separate topic.

I had previously just dropped whatever random question that came to mind into the Random Thread (thanks jemly!), but I had been thinking about starting this for a while and figured I'd give it a shot to see if it could be of any use.

I'm well aware that the people who could best utilize this thread will likely remain completely oblivious to it, but if it can consolidate even a small fraction of questions -- and maybe even generate some interesting conversations both beauty and non-beauty related -- that seems worthwhile.

Official thread mascots: The Curious Puppies.upload_5938777889175560105.gif

Official thread anti-mascot: Lucille Bluth.

It probably would've been wise of me to have a relatively inane question to use as an example and kick this thread off...

Well, since I apparently don't have any pressing questions, I'll start with this two-parter:

What's your favorite drug store nail polish shade AND which official mascot puppy is your favorite? Bonus/Extra Credit: What's it's name?

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

Omg that's going to be amazing Smiley Very Happy

The Guerlain boutique might be fun. They have exclusive products, and even Shalimar (and Habit Rouge, La Petite Robe Noire etc) scented teas.

If you like perfumes, Annick Goutal, Serge Lutens and many others have their flagship in Paris.

I remember a similar question being well answered a few months ago, though I don't remember any particular place Smiley Sad

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

You dolls are the best!  I totally forgot about the guerlain teas!

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

Guerlain teas?! what magic is this?

I wanna be guerlain beautiful from the inside tooooooooo.

This sounds like a literal magical potion.

*cries*

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

Google 'bois de jasmin guerlain tea' for a couple relevant posts. Not quite incidentally, it is my favorite fragrance blog Smiley Happy

Harney & Son's Paris tea has been called the poor man's Shalimar tea lol. It is relatively affordable on Amazon US at $8ish for a 10oz loose leaf tin. I like to doctor it with a few drops of vanilla & rosewater.

OMG!  This is so amazing!  I hope you have an outstanding time!  Please share pics! Smiley Happy

I haven't been to Paris in 15 years, so no recommendations from me, other than to check out the Sephora store on Champs-Elysees to see all the different brands they have - That was the store that started my love of Sephora! <3

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

@mpas I hope this isn't too late, but OMG City Pharma!!! I was like a kid in a candy store. They have super cheap, amazing products that are mid-grade/higher end here, but drugstore brand there. I got Caudalie, Klorane, Nuxe, Leirac, La Roche Posay and so much more at amazing prices. Also make sure to take your passport with you to get the form in order to get your tax refunded at the airport.

Also as u mentioned Laduree, but also Angelina if you like chocolate (amazingly thick hot chocolate) and Jean-Paul Hevin has some amazing salted caramels.

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

@mpas I'm currently obsessing over Ladurée and trying to figure out how to get my hands on some safely. You are sooooo lucky!! Please post alllll the pictures and tag me in your beauty finds! Caudalíe is from there so maybe check out if they have any French exclusives?

So I know the lipstick on her is Kylie Pumpkin, and I'm not interested in purchasing that.  I did look up dupes, but none really come close.  I purchased Smashbox Out loud and it's gorgeous, but much darker.  Any idea what would be a close dupe?

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

@MiaM7 I bet someone has shared a similar shade in the Unnude Lip Challenge! http://community.sephora.com/t5/Lips/The-UnNude-Lip-Challenge/td-p/2686908

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

Good idea, looking rn! Thanks a lot Smiley Happy

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

Looks like "Ripe" by nudestix could work! @MiaM7

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

Ohh that's a close match, I'll see if I can swatch that in store.  Thank you!

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

i think ofra miami fever is close too @MiaM7!

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

It's not a liquid but it looks a lot like NARS Jane.

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

ohhh that's a gorgeous color! might have to pick that one up even if it's not an exact dupe.

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

Love Bug by Colourpop is also very similar! I own Out Loud and it is lighter than Love Bug. People do have issues with the consistency being different than other Colourpop liquid lipsticks but I don't mind it so much because of the gorgeous color.

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

Maybe Kat Von D Chula and seconding NARS Jane

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

Does anyone use the Deva curl towel ?  Does it really make a difference?

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

Hey @makeupobesessed! I use it and I think it does make a difference but I don't think you *need* the DevaCurl branded one.  It's essentially just a microfiber towel.  I use mine after I put in product to squeeze out any excess moisture and I find my hair isn't as frizzy if I use this instead of a regular terrycloth towel.  I have the old white version and it's pretty small, about the size of a kitchen hand towel, not sure if the new one is larger. Hope this helps!

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

Thank you ladies...I can get a microfiber towel cheaper then the deva so Im off to get one...thanks for ur responses!

Re: The Question Thread: Because not all questions need their own thread.

@makeupobsessed  I second @michelleshops response.  A microfiber towel to gently remove excess water after a shower will really cut down on the friction while drying your hair, reducing frizz.  However, it's absolutely unnecessary that you get a DevaCurl one specifically.  If you do choose to get it, the new gray version is significantly bigger and much easier to use than the old one.
