I realized we don't have an OOTD, outfit of the day thread, which isn't needed but can still be a lot of fun. It's dress up for me, but make it adult.
This was part spurred by my natural hair journey, Tress Trek - A Transition Journal from Relaxer to Natural and NYFW and Zendaya. 99% Zendaya.
The Fit- this can be your attire, or what has arisen from the Capsule Challenge, your makeup bag. Hair and fragrance "fits" count, too
The Fab - What you loved enough to be inspired by or loved the most about your look
The Face - the proooodduccctsss, so I can add to my loves list, y'all. Or a pic of your face
Note: posting your actual self is optional. Feel free to post pics or lists of what you included. This really is about seeing what others are doing and getting inspired to try or retry things.
Also feel free to cross post to existing threads (and browse)

What are you wearing today Pt2
I'm definitely a little ga-ga for certain late 20th Century "It Girls" and hugely influenced by their style @peculiarzmakeup 🙂 This thread is a fun way to pay homage to how much their style has impacted my own. You're always so thoughtful in your comments, it brightens my day a bit reading them! I hope whatever you're doing (or not doing) for the holiday goes well ❤️
You are as well! I totally see that, I love the creativity as well! I hope you do too! ❤️ @PDXXXX thank you for saying that it always makes me so happy to interact with you and everyone here 🙂
@PDXXXX You look so fresh and glowy! And that outfit is so simple yet so well put together.
Mmmm, this is good. Also a good way to dress for fall without going overboard, it's layers and neutral but still clean and sophisticated @PDXXXX
@PDXXXX This is fantastic. I love the look!
I loooove this vibe @PDXXXX ❤️🖤

The Fit - A blazer from Torrid. I saw it back in the summer but passed on it. I kept thinking about it tho and finally went back for it a few weeks ago. It was on clearance and they had one in my size! Bargain! The shirt is a light lavender button up from old navy and the pants are a thrift find. If you wanna gender everything: woman’s blazer, men’s shirt, woman’s pants, fabulous outfit!
The Fab - Clothing has no gender. Same goes for makeup. Like literally. I wore this outfit in boy-mode today and thought it looked amazing! And then I got home and tried it on girl-mode. Amazing again! I didn’t even change up my makeup. It’s just the wig and headband! Crazy how something can be both masculine and feminine at the same time. Also, this blazer is giving Clueless vibes and millennial me is all about it!
The Face - A lot of this is the same old stuff I was using before. A few Sephora specific products include Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Soft Pinch Liquid Blush Virtue SEPHORA COLLECTION Best Skin Ever Multi-Use Hydrating Glow Concealer 30 Sand, Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Lengthening Mascara and HAUS LABS BY LADY GAGA Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation with Fermented Arnica 330 Mediu...
Amazing fits, everything is fabulous! The first photo is everything!!! Love the side by side photo, the expression, fits, fantastic looks. Amazing patterned yellow, great color!! Makeup and fit are so complimentary! I enjoyed reading your post and your fabulous! @JoSometimes 🌼🧥
Oh shucks @peculiarzmakeup … you are too kind! I really enjoyed putting that together. Sometimes I get a little artsy. 😆
Both looks are totally you! Plus the poses are awesome!! @JoSometimes
Awww thank you @CorgiMommy! It was really fun putting both boy- and girl-me together in the same photo.
@JoSometimes it's taking me back to the "clueless" era 😍 I love it!!
@lmaster “Ugh… As if!?” I love that movie! 🍿
@JoSometimes I absolutely love that blazer on you!
@PrettyPaint I am so glad I caved and went back for it! 💛
@JoSometimes, this is so fantastic: I love the first photo you shared of how it played out with a boy and then a girl look! That blazer is amazing. I love your "Clueless" reference and immediately could see the scene with Cher wearing it. I love that you thought it out so well you could do a quick change look while only adding one accessory (the headband) and restyling your hair. The lavender shirt was such a good choice to make the blazer work both ways. Perfection!
Agreed, this is is so soooo good @JoSometimes . Yeah, the photo compression doesn't give us the lavender in the blazer, but there's a nice contrast in the other items
@danielledanielle *cries in lost pixels*
It’s a very subtle thing. I didn’t even notice the lavender until I tried it on in the mirror.
Awww thank you @PDXXXX! I absolutely had to have this blazer because of Clueless! I’m on a mission to create a similar outfit. I wish they had a matching skirt…
I went with lavender because the blazer has lavender stripes. It’s hard to see in pictures but more evident irl.
Yesterday I had a barrette in my hair and fell into an entire Margot Tenenbaum-inspired mood. For those who haven't watched, "The Royal Tenenbaums" or know the character, believe me when I say it was a HUGE influence on fashion. Margot's look was so iconic Vogue even wrote an article on the 20th anniversary of the film's release about it in 2021 you can read here: https://www.vogue.com/slideshow/margot-tenenbaum-style-20-year-anniversary
THE FIT AND THE FAB: Everything Margot. Throughout the entirety of the film, Margot wears a mink jacket over a polo dress and loafers with a red barrette in her hair often carrying her Birken bag and nothing else. Her style is heavily influenced by the 70's and the nostalgia Gen X had for that time. She's the ultimate high-low type - both old money and an adopted orphan who still paints her own toenails while secretly smoking in her bathroom rather than getting pedicures at the salon. Her style embodies everything most Gen X women adore and aspire to posesss. A look that's both messy and eccentric such that except for the Birken bag no one on the street could guess whether she paid full price for that coat or got it at a vintage store only she knows about:
My own "Margot Coat" is not mink but a faux fur Kenneth Cole coat I absolutely HAD TO HAVE and got on sale some years back. It's not as long as Margot's and I don't have the legs to wear the coat as if I had nothing but a mini polo dress on underneath so I styled it more for real life with jeans, loafers and a hairpin rather than a red barrette:
Margot seems aloof and inaccessible but as her relationship with her brother unfolds we find she is quite vulnerable. I imagine her wearing a scent like Ellis Brooklyn MYTH Eau de Parfum that comes on icey and untouchable at first but softens into a soft musk and wearing vintage jewelry with a feeling of nostalgia one wouldn't expect from her at first like this bracelet I have from my great grandmother:
THE FACE: the hallmark of Margot's makeup look is her seemingly swiftly done, messy-rimmed black eyeliner and subtle peachy red cream lipstick. I imagine Margot still uses Cover Girl Eyeliner she grabs at the corner market with the cigarettes she sneaks out to buy but my own was MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Color Pencil Longwear Eyeliner in a dark brown updated with a cleaner winged eye. At the same time, I'm almost positive her lipstick is on par with a brand like Tom Ford or Prada. I don't have quite the shade Margot wears so applied DIOR Rouge Dior Forever Transfer-Proof Lipstick in Forever Together, a warm mid-tone red.
This is fabulous @PDXXXX! That is a great film - I’m adding it to my rewatch list for the holiday. 👍🏼 You nailed Margot’s look! 😍 Love the add of your grandmother’s bracelet. Pieces with special meaning are always a lovely touch.
