I realized we don't have an OOTD, outfit of the day thread, which isn't needed but can still be a lot of fun.  It's dress up for me, but make it adult.

This was part spurred by my natural hair journey, Tress Trek - A Transition Journal from Relaxer to Natural and NYFW and Zendaya.  99% Zendaya.

The Fit- this can be your attire, or what has arisen from the Capsule Challenge, your makeup bag.  Hair and fragrance "fits" count, too

@JoSometimes can we talk about that clutch and the shoes?! They add so much softness to the outfit. I don't have any nude or pink pumps or lighter purses and now I'm like, hmmm...there is some magic happening in how they contrast with a bold color look! The pinafore is great -so true to the style in your other looks and I love seeing how you work your own authentic style into each of your looks.

I actually have a hard time with all black outfits, especially in-girl mode. I have only have 2 LBDs in my closet. I really enjoy playing around with colour as well as the “gender” (in quotes because clothes don’t have gender) of clothing to make interesting looks. 😁

@JoSometimes ha! It's impossible to get me to wear color very often. I do have quite the thing for tweed jackets and blazers though and I feel like you could have a field day with those. Also, maybe not black but houndstooth? This reminds me of you though I'm on the fence about the boots:

Have me looking at pinafore dresses now 😁 @JoSometimes , but fave thing is the nude pumps!  It keeps the dress from going too far into schoolgirl territory.  I also love reading your tweaks or changes to it, and yes 🙌🏽 bold lip!

I am really glad I got these shoes. I will admit my feet were killing me already from shopping in them with my friend and trying to stand on grass in them was an interesting challenge. I am almost tempted to leave a little square of plywood in the car for days like this where I impulsively stop somewhere to take pictures on grass. 😆

Sunday dinner with friends I hadn’t seen for a while.   

The Fab 

• the scarf - picked up at the Rewards Bazaar last month. Love it! 
• the jacket - Mine is a deep green corduroy, not navy as in the pic -but the style is similiar. Picked it up in a boutique a couple of years ago. I did contemplate picking up the pictured navy one but I'd prefer something with pockets at the waist, or close to the waist since the jacket hits just above the waist.   
• the ankle boots - 3-1/4" block heel, pointed toe. These were not only comfortable to wear, they offset the extra length in these jeans! Oh, my goodness, if only my legs were this long in real life! I may be taking these in for alterations.

The Face  

• ISDIN Eryfotona Actinica Ultralight Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50+ 1.7 oz / 50 ml  - it's tinted and it's darker than my skin tone, even at my most tan. The formulation is sheer and thin so it'll probably be fine.
• Tower 28 Beauty SunnyDays SPF 30 Tinted Sunscreen Foundation 🐐
• Armani Beauty Power Fabric + Longwear Matte Concealer - a nostalgic blast from the past. It was one of two concealers in my collection when I first discovered the Community. I now have ... more than two concealers in my collection. 😂 This remains one I really like.
• Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Mini Soft Pinch Liquid Blush Happy 
• MAC Locked Kiss Ink 24Hr LipColour 62 Bodacious
• Valentino Brow Trio Eyebrow Liner, particularly the felt tip end has been working out very well, to my surprise.
• Danessa Myricks Beauty Linework Paintbrush Fluid Liquid Eyeliner 0.034 oz / 1 ml - one of the rare non-Asian liquid liners that have some staying power on me
• Guerlain x Pucci (2024) Terracotta Light Healthy Glow Bronzer (shade: Marmo Sun) - the Guerlain and Pucci collabs are always so good!

Thank you @PrettyPaint! Normally the height is on the outer edge of what I'm comfortable with but the block heel really does help, I think. These held up well; I mean, I wasn't running a marathon 😂 but being comfortable all day long, and a longer day than usual? I'm very happy with that!

I love the styling of your outfit and how cohesive and well-thought-out the accessories are @itsfi. I am laughing a bit as I am only 5'2" and have a pair of boots that are very similar. I rely on them for longer inseams (and find they're a style I like a lot as well). Also swooning over the purse. This feels like accessory goals!

Oh my goodness, you understand @PDXXXX!!! I had to go back to see if I ordered the wrong length and then saw that it only comes in one length (really long, lol). It would actually be fine if these boots were an extra 1/4" - 1/2" inch taller becuase the hem can graze the floor/ground sometimes. 😂🤣😂

Awww, that's really sweet of you to say. Accessories are not really my strong suit. I have them, but I tend to stick to the same things or none at all (other than my handbags and shoes). This thread and seeing how everyone puts their stunning looks together will be good inspiration and motivation.

@itsfi, ok, this is a nice blend of staples (heeled boots, military style jacket, jeans) with an iconic accessory, in a houndstooth no less?!  Totally agree with @CookieGirl1 , a houndstooth pattern just takes it up a notch.  Another chic, but casual winner!

@danielledanielle, military style - that's the name of it. I was wracking my brain trying to find a photo of something similar and trying to figure out how to describe the jacket for the search. Thank you! Black/white, neutrals, classics with a pop of color or a pop of something - that's my comfy space. And it's in the form of a scarf? Even better. 😍

@JoSometimes, houndstooth is such a fun pattern - in scarves, handbags, shoes, etc. If you find a houndstooth scarf you like, I say 'go for it!' It's a classic!

The Fit: the return of the pinstripe cargo pants from Sephoria.  I rented a different size, so they are even longer. Shirt is also RTR, it's a giant, oversized shirt dress.  It NEEDS cinching so, the vest (my own, bought who knows when or where) is doing the work.  I had the shirt hanging out fully, but I tucked it in, I liked it much better.  This was primarily so I could reach the pockets, but it also looks like a buttress, so bonus.

The Fab: It's giving fantasy mob wife, but heh, the original inspo was just grey 🩶...I wanted to do a grey look for this week's Cheek Challenge, based loosely on Meeko (yes, the raccoon 🦝) from Pocahontas....  I love the pants, and wanted to wear a black turtle neck, but then I was kind of curious to see what the giant shirt looked like paired with it.  I didn't have a belt in mind, it was either this vest or another vest, but I found the pinstripe one first.  The boots are ankle boots from old Navy, which is a backup pair I bought because I loved these when I first got them. 

 

The Face: smoky eyes, grey gradients equals ND Xenon.  Then for "stripes" I highlighted heavy underneath my eye like I did for my Nala look.  Which I'll post eventually.  Lips are simple, Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer Fenty Glow with Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Trace'd Out Longwear Waterproof Pencil Lip Liner MVP
