I realized we don't have an OOTD, outfit of the day thread, which isn't needed but can still be a lot of fun. It's dress up for me, but make it adult.
This was part spurred by my natural hair journey, Tress Trek - A Transition Journal from Relaxer to Natural and NYFW and Zendaya. 99% Zendaya.
The Fit- this can be your attire, or what has arisen from the Capsule Challenge, your makeup bag. Hair and fragrance "fits" count, too
The Fab - What you loved enough to be inspired by or loved the most about your look
The Face - the proooodduccctsss, so I can add to my loves list, y'all. Or a pic of your face
Note: posting your actual self is optional. Feel free to post pics or lists of what you included. This really is about seeing what others are doing and getting inspired to try or retry things.
Also feel free to cross post to existing threads (and browse)
Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge 2025
What are you wearing in 2025??
That's a lot of clothes, as much as I dream about that....my wallet won't like it, might just stick to one or two, 😂 @itsfi
I love this so much! You did amazing pairing all these fabulous items together it really suits the look so well, love the collage ❤️ I also appreciate you sharing the makeup as it’s a beautiful fit as well and such a stunning nail color! This is beautifully done and a great read. I’ve never seen the movie I think parts of it but definatley going to watch it one of these days 😎😎😎 @itsfi
@itsfi What a wonderful outfit! I love your style. Pairing the paid tights and leopard peint scarf will add som fun layers and depth to the outfit. I wish I could put outfits together like this. Maybe it takes practice? Have you seen the movie before? Your nail polish is going to go so well with the outfit. It is such a great neutral that will go with other outfits also. The jacket is definitely the star of the show. What a great steal deal you got on it!
Thank you @peculiarzmakeup. If I can put together an outfit based on the movie I do, you definitely can too! She has gold shoes and white gloves in the pic and I feel like I can’t do either. (I also don’t have either in my wardrobe). But black boots and gloves? Ohhh, that I can do 😃 especially this time of the year.
Awww, you're so kind @Mellmars1185; thank you. You can totally put together an outfit like this; yours would be even more stylish! Of these pieces, my default would be to pair the dress, coat, boots, purse, sunglasses and gloves - those are items I would would wear together, with a sweater, for work. Adding the scarf, tights and earring are inspired by the outfit from the movie, you and hearts. Between this thread and the makeup capsules, I'm rotating through more things from my closet and makeup collection - it's been a lot of fun, and, at least with the clothes, takes me back to a time when I spent more time and thought into putting my outfits together. It's been nice.
I've seen the movie a few times, though after the first couple of times, I just fast forward to certain scenes to look at the clothes. 😆
@itsfi Thank you 😊. I have been meaning to clean out my closet for a while now. I like being able to vision mixing and matching different pieces but i can't even see what I have 😆. Last week I worked on my makeup/skin care collection. Next up are the clothes.
It is great that the challenges are helping you! My goal this weekend is to get a capsule together for Monday. I miss participating!
I need to watch this movie now. I may I have seen in the past but I can't remember! It will be fun to see all of th fashion you mention!
@Mellmars1185, it’s fun to see what the fashion was and to mix it up and put a spin on it that makes it more you. I feel like I love so many of the coats in the movie! I love coats in general so that helps. 😆
Happy New Year everyone! I was pretty low key and chill last week with my clothing choices and didn't get to posting an outfit. I'm sure those looks will be repeated on multiple occasions during the year so I'll try to remember to post another time.
I was working on some more decluttering the other day and realized I have had a few brown pieces in my closet for a while, mostly staple items - coat, scarves and a handbag - and I’ve added a few additional items over the last 18 months. I don't usually put together a predominantly brown outfit but decided to go with a dark brown ensemble to pair with the mocha mousse inspired makeup theme a la this week’s theme for the Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge 2025. And here we are!
The Fit:
The Function:
Mmmmm, it's .... Tuesday? I mean, it's Tuesday!! 😊 I don't have any specific occasion or event that I'm getting dressed up for, other than I want to put my clothes to work, which I've been more inspired to do thanks to this thread - thank you @danielledanielle.
The Fab:
The Face:
These were curated from a larger collection of makeup products for the week's mocha-mousse-inspired makeup capsule. Lemme know if you have questions about an item or would like swatches. This is probably what I'll wear most days this week, swapping out the lip product and adding the Danessa Myricks eyeliner or Byredo highlighter on different days during the week.
The Follicles: tryin' to keep the "f" theme going hair. 😅
Hair is styled half up, half down, held up with this clip.
The Fingernails: are not my natural nails - I wish!
It's been a bit of a re-learning curve this morning to type out this post with these nails, which are imPress purefit press-on nails - length: short; design: Wake Up. Thanks goes to @sister13 for introducing me to the imPress press-ons. @ather, these come with the nail stickers already affixed to the back side of the press-on. I'll apply a nail hardener or base coat to my nails and let that dry before I apply the press-ons, for a little extra protection for my nails. The "short" length on these still give some good length.
Amazing 🤩 to see this paired with your capsule is just so cool I love how threads have that crossover it’s beautiful! Lovely collage and browns, I just thinking I think I only have about two browns in my closet, such a stunning makeup set and loved what you named the hair piece it’s beautiful. Your attention to detail never misses I always love seeing what you post! I hope your new years was fun and this year has been great for you 🤎 @itsfi
@itsfi I love this outfit. The jacket with the slip skirt. It goes together so perfectly! And the boots! Perfect for winter! A good cashmere sweater is a staple in the winter for sure!
I love how this weeks mocha inspired capsule works out to match this look! It’s like it was ment to be!
And those nails are beautiful!! I bet having the sticker already attached is helpful! So smart to add the strengthening base coat so your nails aren’t getting damaged!
Thank you @ather; I've been having fun with this thread - it's been a great way for me to mix and match pieces I have and switch up my usual look, sometimes just by adding one or two items to the outfit I might not otherwise pair with it. It's similar to the makeup capsule in that regard.
The press-ons have been a great something different to use every once in a while working on growing my nails out. I'm still getting used to them - one popped off at night and ended up sticking to my blanket - hahahahaha! 🤣
@itsfi Omg I laughed out loud when I read one popped off and stuck to your blanket! I have not had that happen to me yet!!!!
Lol, I had no idea it had come off until the next morning 😮 I got a good chuckle too @ather; I’m actually laughing about it as I’m writing about it now. Ohhhh, me and my mishaps adventures with press-on nails. Never a dull moment with me and press-ons. 😝

What inspired me 💡 to create this look is Merit Cream Flush Balm Blush- Shade “Mood”. The shade is a burgundy color. Sadly, Merit announced “Mood’s” departure at the end of 2024 to incorporate new products. I’m very glad I got it at the right time and will be sure to make it last.
The Face
I’ve never done this, but I planned the face ahead of time to be very mindful about what I see fitting in with “Mood”

@peculiarzmakeup Oh no! That’s to bad they aren’t keeping MERIT Flush Balm Cream Blush Mood I saw they are bringing back some other new/old blushes. I wonder if there’s one that might work or be close?
That is so thoughtful! Thank you! I will look I pretty much wanna try every new shade they are all so pretty but gotta pace myself haha @ather
Glad you got your hands on Merit Mood @peculiarzmakeup; it’s such a pretty shade. The welcome bag is super cute, love that they include that your first purchase.
Wow, that lipstick shade looks fantastic on you!! I went through the brand’s site and they have a lot of good shades. That’s a great lineup of makeup products. How are you liking the Rare Beauty brow gel?
Thank you so much it is very kind of them to throw in the bag on the first order it holds everything quite nicely! I love RB brow gel I’ve learned how to use it and adapt to the look I want the longer I use it 🙂 @itsfi
THE FIT (excuse the awkward pose, I was trying to get the ring in the picture and this is the only one that wasn't blurry):
This look is essentially an homage to the versatility and timelessness of St. John's clothing and me trying on a St. John Jacket I got in the mail today that was marked down over $1,3000 below what it retailed for (still an investment piece for me and a splurge). For those not familiar with St. John, as one history of fashion houses quoted a retailer, "For ladies who lunch, a St. John knit is almost like a uniform, a status symbol," which neatly described the company's typical retail customer and conveyed the essence of the clothes' success: generations of women made the inclusion of a St. John knit in their wardrobe a must." The line was started in the early 60's by former model Marie St. John who liked to knit and began making custom items for friends before her husband joined her in going into larger production. Classic elements of St. John's include primary colors, nods to Chanel, and their tweed slub jackets and knitwear. They're easy to dress down as I did here or dress up pairing the lines matching shift dresses and skirts. I paired mine with L'agence Margot jeans (great for petites) and Vince square-toe wedge booties.
THE FAB:
As you can see the color of the jacket has much more bronze and gold up close than when photographed. I chose a large ring I got I don't know where for about $20. And think it and Nemat's White Musk - which I found in a thrift store/boutique and is one of the best white musks I've smelled never mind for only $11 - suits the high/low look I prefer and versatility of St. John's jackets. Women who wear St. John's spend money but only on pieces they can wear for decades. On the one hand, they're a status symbol. On the other, they're for women who would find it tacky to wear an obvious Chanel piece however similar in style the brands may be.
THE FACE:
BASE: Iconic London Underglow Blurring Primer .9 oz / 27 mL , Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Natural Glow Foundation 3 , Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Brightening Concealer With Hyaluronic Acid Atelier L1, and DIOR Forever Glow Star Filter Multi-Use Complexion Enhancing Booster 0N .
CHEEKS: DIOR Rosy Glow Blush 012 Rosewood and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palette Dragon for highlight and contour.
EYES: PATRICK TA Major Dimension III Matte Eyeshadow Palette , Benefit and Dior brow pencils, Wander Beauty Unlashed Volume & Curl Mascara Black .
LIPS: Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer Fenty Glow
NEW FAVORITE: MUA nude eye pencil - defines and cleans up brows, can be used as a lipliner to correct or highlight - love it.
Oooh, I love the run through @PDXXXX . This coat is everything! It looks like a houndstooth from far away, and then so intricate close up.
Also, makeup 👍🏽👍🏽 I feel like all of those are "new" classics
Thank you @danielledanielle . Still working on my classic makeup recipe but I do love a lot of the ingredients in this one. I hope they keep the Fenty Afterglow around - I feel like it should be a new classic.
