I realized we don't have an OOTD, outfit of the day thread, which isn't needed but can still be a lot of fun. It's dress up for me, but make it adult.
This was part spurred by my natural hair journey, Tress Trek - A Transition Journal from Relaxer to Natural and NYFW and Zendaya. 99% Zendaya.
The Fit- this can be your attire, or what has arisen from the Capsule Challenge, your makeup bag. Hair and fragrance "fits" count, too
The Fab - What you loved enough to be inspired by or loved the most about your look
The Face - the proooodduccctsss, so I can add to my loves list, y'all. Or a pic of your face
Note: posting your actual self is optional. Feel free to post pics or lists of what you included. This really is about seeing what others are doing and getting inspired to try or retry things.
Also feel free to cross post to existing threads (and browse)
Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge
What are you wearing today Pt2
The Fit: the return of the pinstripe cargo pants from Sephoria. I rented a different size, so they are even longer. Shirt is also RTR, it's a giant, oversized shirt dress. It NEEDS cinching so, the vest (my own, bought who knows when or where) is doing the work. I had the shirt hanging out fully, but I tucked it in, I liked it much better. This was primarily so I could reach the pockets, but it also looks like a buttress, so bonus.
The Fab: It's giving fantasy mob wife, but heh, the original inspo was just grey 🩶...I wanted to do a grey look for this week's Cheek Challenge, based loosely on Meeko (yes, the raccoon 🦝) from Pocahontas.... I love the pants, and wanted to wear a black turtle neck, but then I was kind of curious to see what the giant shirt looked like paired with it. I didn't have a belt in mind, it was either this vest or another vest, but I found the pinstripe one first. The boots are ankle boots from old Navy, which is a backup pair I bought because I loved these when I first got them.
The Face: smoky eyes, grey gradients equals ND Xenon. Then for "stripes" I highlighted heavy underneath my eye like I did for my Nala look. Which I'll post eventually. Lips are simple, Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer Fenty Glow with Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Trace'd Out Longwear Waterproof Pencil Lip Liner MVP
@danielledanielle I love those pants. They look fantastic on you!
THE INSPO: NICO X WYNDE'S BRACELET:
I came across a bracelet gifted to me at a small house party almost 20 years back by an acquaintance, Wynde. She reminds me a lot of the iconic Nico, who began as a European model, went on to act in films like "La Dolce Vida," and became best known as the singer of The Velvet Underground emerging from the 1960s Warhol scene continuing as a solo musician until her death. Both share a look that is often streamlined yet accessorized such that their looks read more eclectic and even a touch 70's Boho:
THE FIT:
Nico had a style arc ranging from very glam 50's as a model and actress to androgynous tailored menswear in the 60's to streamlined flowy (usually black) clothing made a bit boho with her accessory choices in the 70's. I tried for a blend with a Madewell black turtleneck, J. Crew poncho, thrifted dark grey Citizens of Humanity Rocket Crop Jeans, and Vince square-toe wedge booties:
THE FAB AND THE FACE:
Most importantly, the silver bracelet Wyde gave me that I used as the lone accessory in this outfit. The unisex, discontinued, woody, almost feral Driftwood perfume from House Of Gloi. And the PATRICK TA Major Dimension III Matte Eyeshadow Palette mixed with Yves Saint Laurent Couture Mini Clutch Eyeshadow Palette in Stora Doll I used for my eye look:
The hallmark of Nico's makeup is her black-ringed eyeliner and pink/peach lip. I'm still working up the courage for black liner so I just added Kosas Weightless Lip Color Nourishing Satin Lipstick in Fantasy Life for a look that landed here:
Amazing look! It’s so fun to read about the history and also inspiration I love your take on it and how beautiful your fit and makeup incorporate something so meaningful! You look amazing 🤩 @PDXXXX
I'm definitely a little ga-ga for certain late 20th Century "It Girls" and hugely influenced by their style @peculiarzmakeup 🙂 This thread is a fun way to pay homage to how much their style has impacted my own. You're always so thoughtful in your comments, it brightens my day a bit reading them! I hope whatever you're doing (or not doing) for the holiday goes well ❤️
You are as well! I totally see that, I love the creativity as well! I hope you do too! ❤️ @PDXXXX thank you for saying that it always makes me so happy to interact with you and everyone here 🙂
@PDXXXX You look so fresh and glowy! And that outfit is so simple yet so well put together.
Mmmm, this is good. Also a good way to dress for fall without going overboard, it's layers and neutral but still clean and sophisticated @PDXXXX
@PDXXXX This is fantastic. I love the look!

The Fit - A blazer from Torrid. I saw it back in the summer but passed on it. I kept thinking about it tho and finally went back for it a few weeks ago. It was on clearance and they had one in my size! Bargain! The shirt is a light lavender button up from old navy and the pants are a thrift find. If you wanna gender everything: woman’s blazer, men’s shirt, woman’s pants, fabulous outfit!
The Fab - Clothing has no gender. Same goes for makeup. Like literally. I wore this outfit in boy-mode today and thought it looked amazing! And then I got home and tried it on girl-mode. Amazing again! I didn’t even change up my makeup. It’s just the wig and headband! Crazy how something can be both masculine and feminine at the same time. Also, this blazer is giving Clueless vibes and millennial me is all about it!
The Face - A lot of this is the same old stuff I was using before. A few Sephora specific products include Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Soft Pinch Liquid Blush Virtue SEPHORA COLLECTION Best Skin Ever Multi-Use Hydrating Glow Concealer 30 Sand, Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Lengthening Mascara and HAUS LABS BY LADY GAGA Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation with Fermented Arnica 330 Mediu...
Amazing fits, everything is fabulous! The first photo is everything!!! Love the side by side photo, the expression, fits, fantastic looks. Amazing patterned yellow, great color!! Makeup and fit are so complimentary! I enjoyed reading your post and your fabulous! @JoSometimes 🌼🧥
Both looks are totally you! Plus the poses are awesome!! @JoSometimes
Awww thank you @CorgiMommy! It was really fun putting both boy- and girl-me together in the same photo.
@JoSometimes it's taking me back to the "clueless" era 😍 I love it!!
@lmaster “Ugh… As if!?” I love that movie! 🍿
@JoSometimes I absolutely love that blazer on you!
@PrettyPaint I am so glad I caved and went back for it! 💛
@JoSometimes, this is so fantastic: I love the first photo you shared of how it played out with a boy and then a girl look! That blazer is amazing. I love your "Clueless" reference and immediately could see the scene with Cher wearing it. I love that you thought it out so well you could do a quick change look while only adding one accessory (the headband) and restyling your hair. The lavender shirt was such a good choice to make the blazer work both ways. Perfection!
