Shop Your Stash / Use Your Stash Challenge: Fall 2025 🍂🍁

Fall is almost here, folks! I've been going through some of my drawers, doing a little reorganizing and finding things in my collection that I'd like to use more during the cooler season. I'm not looking to pan or use up these products necessarily, more just trying to get more use out of them and deciding whether to keep them in my collection or declutter before the end of the year. If you have some items that could benefit from the same, please join me. 

Feel free to use this space to identify and talk through beauty product(s) that you'd like to use or work through this fall (or through the end of the year) - be it makeup, skincare, bath & body products, fragrance, hair care, or other beauty items that are best suited for the autumn season or products in your stash that have been needing some more of your attention. 

How To Shop Your Stash:

Go through your collection and pick out product(s) you want to work on using this fall or for the remainder of the year. It can be one item, or 2, 3, or 20+. Up to you. 

Purpose of Shop Your Stash:

This challenge can serve a number of functions, depending on what you have in your stash and what you're looking to achieve, including an opportunity to:

• Rotate and use products that are ideal or better suited for the fall months as a result of their shades, consistency, texture or otherwise

• Use the beauty items we already have on hand or "shopping our stash" - this can help with being more savvy shoppers by helping us to be more mindful with our beauty spend by (i) not thinking we have to have all the new things all the time (or all at once) or (ii) finding not just what we love/like but what we may be missing in our current collections. With the holidays coming up, I'm looking at this as a way to  manage my spending by helping me figure out what it is I really want (everything looks so good!) or identify what I'm missing from my collection that I want to pick up during those fabulous year end sales.

• Ease our way towards panning products or identifying what product(s) we want to try to work on including in a project pan next year! It can be daunting trying to figure out what items to work on for a year long project pan, but taking it in 3-month intervals gives me a better idea of what products I can see myself keeping up with for a whole year and which I may need to include a couple of in a project pan so I have some variety.  

Remember, including items in a use/shop your stash doesn't mean they are the only items you can use for the season. It can if that's how you want to approach it. You can also pick more than one of the same type of item to shop / use for the fall so that  you have variety. Set aside half a dozen lipstick shades you want to incorporate into your looks this season. Or, pull out a few foundations that work best for your skin type and color as the weather cools down. 

I'm going to take a day or two to think about what items I want to include in this season's shop my stash and will post them here when I figure that out.

Oh, you should pick up one, two or all three of the Elorea discovery sets @PrettyPaint. I did purchase them through the direct site. Each set includes a voucher equal to the value of the set that can be applied to the purchase of a full size of a fragrance from the set. My recollection is that it needs to be redeemed within a certain period of time, maybe 30 days, but don't quote me on that. The brand occasionally has a promo code for a percentage or $$ off of their discovery sets as well. If you pick up a discovery set, I would absolutely love to hear your feedback / share thoughts with you on them.

@itsfi Sorry for the super slow reply. I just went to their site. I love that they don't contain animal derived materials or musk ketones. And yikes - they have three discovery sets to choose from and I can't decide!

Yeah, I don't envy you there @PrettyPaint - each set includes some really great selections; it's hard to choose which set to go for. Bummer to hear they'll be phasing out their discovery sets.

Ahh @itsfi you’re too kind. I’m all blushing over here. I was thinking about this challenge…. For this fall challenge I want to shop my previous holiday collections since all the holiday collections drop left and right at the moment … I need to be strong and show some restraint and not hoard everything with the holiday labels that slapped on them 😘

Ohhhh, that is an excellent way to shop your stash @blackkitty2014; I love it! Yes, the holiday packaging, "special edition", "holiday" labels don't help. At all! 🤣

@itsfi  I love this challenge!! I need to set aside some items so I can also participate!!! I love the hair mask idea! I have so many I need to use up also!

Yes, yes, jump on in @ather! It's amazing how quickly we can rack up those hair mask samples. I don't typically take a hair mask with me when I travel, using one instead before I leave or after I get back, so they get reached for less frequently (or not at all) than say samples of shampoo & conditioner. Go shop your stash and if you find some things you want to work on this fall or through the end of the year, come join us!

I say “go for it” @ather! I used a hair mask the other morning. Completely forgot how generous they are with product and how many uses I can get out of them. 😲 I mean, that’s good bang for my buck; but it also means it may take me a little longer than I thought to rotate through these hair mask foils. 🤔

@itsfi  Oh no! I mean that could be a good thing that you have way more!!! But your usage may be slower. But you’ll have more for the colder months too!!!

@ather, definitely good from the perspective of getting ample product to try out and to really get to see how a product works! I just need to readjust my expectation for the hair mask portion of the shop my stash. So far so good too with the sample. I'm going to give it a few more tries but I may have a hair mask to add to my list for either the holiday / post-holiday sales or for the spring savings event next year - I know, I'm already thinking about next year. All thanks to this fall shop my stash. 😂

@itsfi  great selection of products to work through and use this fall! I love your idea to go through your fragrance discovery sets, I should do that too, haha! I just have so many! 🙈 I think I've settled on the products I want to focus on for this challenge (I might have gotten a bit carried away, oops 😅), so I'll try to post them tomorrow. It's too dark here to take a decent picture(s) now.

lol @caitbird, it can be easy to get carried away when you start shopping your stash. 😂 Especially as I suspect you have a fun stash to shop! 🛍 You can always make adjustment as you go through the season. I find myself doing that occasionally, especially if I've given it a good try and it's just not working out for me. I typically pull things out, get an idea for what I want to do and then put my head down for a good chunk of time (for me it's like 4-6 weeks) to see how things go, and make adjustments from there. That gives me time to work through the things I've pulled out and go through a round or two of working through things. It's not just an initial knee jerk reaction of "oh, this is gonna work out just fine!" or "I can't do it." 

Yeah, the fragrance discovery sets. I figure if I want to get an advent calendar this year with some fragrances again I need to work through what I already have first. Most of the sets are from purchases I've made this year and I've used them earlier in the year so I'm happy about that but they do need to be tested in cooler weather so it's a good time to put the to use. And, there are a couple sets that have been hanging around for a year or two that haven't been opened - grrrr!!! so the timing is right.
