SHOULD I USE TRANSLUCENT POWDER

I wear tinted moisturizer and I'm not sure if I should wear translucent powder over it or not.  Any suggestions?? And if so, how do I apply it with a powder puff without ruining my makeup?

Re: SHOULD I USE TRANSLUCENT POWDER

Agree with @JenL87 that it all comes back to what works best for your skin! I finish with translucent powder no matter what sort of foundation/base product I wear (even on days when I just wear concealer!) because I have a fairly oily skin type and so I need the powder's mattifying effects or my makeup probably won't stay in place. If your skin is quite dry, you could more probably get away with not wearing powder; in fact you might even find in that case that powder emphasizes your texture in bad ways.

RE: SHOULD I USE TRANSLUCENT POWDER

I think it's up to you what kind of look you want and what works with your skin. I wear tinted moisturizer for simple everyday makeup and like to use a brush to lightly add a little translucent powder to my forehead and nose to prevent a 'glow' from turning into 'greasy beacon of light'. If I'm going out or putting on makeup for an event though I'll set with powder so my makeup lasts longer.

@Anonymous I think it's up to you if you want to "finish" the look with powder or not.  For me, tinted moisturizers need the "dryness" of a powder to set, but not everyone feels this way.  If you were to use a powder, I'd recommend using a brush instead of a powder puff.  Good luck 🙂

Re: SHOULD I USE TRANSLUCENT POWDER

Hi there 🙂  I wear a BB cream and I rarely use a powder. With my aging skin concerns I find that powder typically makes me look and feel dehydrated, and most of the time no matter how I apply powder (especially under my eyes) my skin looks worse. The Surratt Diaphane Loose Powder is my favorite for when I do set with powder, but that's reserved for days where I truly believe my makeup is going to have a breakdown if I don't set it in place. I much prefer a setting spray, and of course I would also use a spray even on those rare occasions I powder to set... good luck 😄

Oh yeah... if you apply with a puff just make sure not to drag the puff, just press straight in to the skin or pat it in... a big fluffy soft brush will work as well, but again patting or dabbing motions will disturb your makeup less in my experience 🙂
