Photos of Your Stash

I saw a thread a while back on here about counting your makeup products.  It was amazing to see those numbers!  While I was reorganzing and going through my makeup since I have moved on to Sephora, and since some things expired and I learned that the hard way lol, I got the silly idea to take a picture of it lol. So if you're bored or just reorganizing your stash, feel free to take a picture and post it!  Smiley Happy My collection is in the little league range at the moment lol

This is my stash after I went through stuff.  I don't use my Victoria's Secret kit much anymore since I discovered Sephora, but I still do use the blushes in it and the lip products when I'm at home for the day.  The main two palettes I've been using are from Urban Decay and Kat Von D, and I love both!

Here's my stash back to organization on my spinny organizer my granny gave me for Christmas.  It works well for the moment, but there's no way I can fit my polishes in it lol.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

@kimmi - thank you so much for the response and tips. Sorry it took me so long to reply, hadn't check this post in a while :-)

Re: Photos of Your Stash

I decided to update this just for the heck of it.  I was going through things and organizing, so I got my camera out to take pictures.  It will be in two posts, though: one for makeup and the next one for nail polish.  I think it is safe to say the nail polish outnumbers the makeup lol.

The eyeshadows.  My UD 15 palette is kind of my special occassion palette since I got a good deal on it lol.  My Naked palette gets used a LOT.  I don't know why I didn't get it sooner lol.  The Revlon one was given to me, and with a primer it works very well!  It will be my neutral travel palette, especially since Lanndan and I are going on a Gatlinburg trip after Finals.

Mascaras and eyeliners.  I don't have many eyeliners since I used shadows as liners as lot, and I can get a thinner line with them.  UD Underground gets used a lot, though.  I love Maybelline mascaras for my long lashes!  The clear one serves as a brow gel.

Face products, most of it fairly new.  The Dr. Jart BB cream sample doesn't like me anymore lol.  Jxw200 got me started on bronzers lol.  I love the Tarte blush set I bought!  I've been experimenting with the illuminating powder.  Love!

Lip products, and most of them are pinks lol.  I do have three reds, though.  The MUFE gloss, Kat Von D Adora and Hellbent.

Scents.  The B&BW Signature Sprays last longer then the regular fragrance mists.

Drawer I store my scents in, along with some samples.

Kaboodle tray I've been using lately.

And a good ole small mason jar for a brush holder lol.  I believe there was jam in it once upon a time.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

And the nail stuff lol.  I do pretty much use everything since I do my nails often and practice on nail wheels.  With proper storage, they should last a very good while.  Please don't call me a hoarder.  I prefer the term collector lol.  Welcome to my salon:

Basic tools for nail care.  Nutra Nail works well for just maintaining nail strength.  I've gone through quite a few bottles of it.

Nail art pieces are fun to use!  I love to use them on my toes during the summer since I wear flip flops a lot.

Packets of glitter and broken "shells."

More glitter!

Other nail art supplies: rhinestones, brushes, stampers, scrapers, stamp plates, sponges, and decals.  The glitter packets and nail art pieces are stored in the bowls.

Basecoats, topcoats, stripers, and crackles.

Not the best lighting for the next pictures.  Various glitter polishes.

Mini bottles.  Sally Girl, Sephora by OPI, and OPI.

Fingerpaints (good for stamping), Orly, Zoya, and Julep.

OPI, Sephora by OPI, and Essence.

The brand that probably started it all:  China Glaze!!!

Odds and Ends: Confetti, Revlon, Sinful Colors, Del Sol (color changing), Sally Hansen, Color Club, and Essie.

My granny gave me this for my birthday that she ordered off of QVC.   15 mini bottles of Sephora by OPI polish.  The big box has three smaller boxes in it.

I keep them in the box so I know what color is what lol.

I love the reds!

Re: Photos of Your Stash

Kimmi---Your collection is awesome! Thanks for sharing! I should probably update my pictures since I have a *lot* more stuff now, my makeup organizer is almost completely full! The only drawer that still has a good amount of space is my face drawer.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

@sephoramusthave  Thanks!  My nail polish collection grows at a much faster rate than that of my makeup lol.  You should post new pictures sometime!  I'd love to see the red lipsticks you've posted about.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

I will! I love my reds actually Smiley Very Happy I've always thought that I looked good in red so I dont know why it took me this long to fully appreciate a red lip! These are the reds that I have so far (I'll post pix when I can!):

1. Dior Addict Lipstick in New Look (my number 1!)

2. NARS Lipstick in Manhunt

3. NARS Lipstick in Jungle Red

4. TheBalm Balmshelter Lipgloss in Pin up Girl

5. TheBalm Read my Lips Lipstick in Wanted

6. Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in Little Red Dress

Re: Photos of Your Stash

Kimmi---Do the darker polishes stain your nails? I'm not a polish person and only own pinks and have never had any issues with staining but I have heard people complain about that. Is that temporary....just with certain brands etc? I'm loving navy colors right now and am looking at shadows and nailpolishes to buy, but wont if they stain your nails.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

@sephoramusthave NARS has some very pretty reds!  I like red lipstick, but I'm still a bit skittish about trying new ones lol.

As for nail staining, it is hard to tell when it could occur.  If you change dark polishes a lot, I think that could lead to staining.  Do you use a base coat?  There's one at Sally's that is supposed to prevent yellowing and staining, but I think it can cause polish to peel.  I read one that one person said it does that.  However, surely there is a brand that prevents it without peeling.

If you notice early sign of staining, you can correct it by cleaning your nails with a whitening paste and brush.  I've heard you can use whitening toothpaste, but I've not tried it.  The staining is temporary.  I've had stains before, and now my nails are clean as a whistle.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

Kimmi----Thanks for the info on staining! I've been wearing navy blue nails lately (LOVE btw) so I hope that it doesnt stain my nails.

Hey I just noticed that you dont have your UD Ammo palette in your stash this time. Did you use it up? I still have mine (I'm on my second one) and there's several empty pans in there now hehe. I've finally started using my BOS palette...its so awesome I cant believe I've waited this long to use it. I tried the Baked shade and its such a gorgeous, pigmented shimmery gold. Amazing.

I'm still thinking about making a build your own palette, but I'm now torn btw MAC, UD or MUFE. All 3 brands have great quality powder shadows, and have really nice build your own palettes.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

@sephoramusthave I know what you mean! I have a number of different 'build your own palettes' since I can never decide haha. I'm really happy with every one that I've tried though, and it's most certainly one of those things that you can never have too many of.

Whimsically yours,
Janine

Re: Photos of Your Stash

janine----Which build your own palettes do you have? *jealous* Eventually, I do want 3 custom made palettes: neutrals, smokeys and brights. That way, I will have everything I need and wont be tempted by anymore shadows and palettes!

Re: Photos of Your Stash

@sephoramusthave  My Ammo palette wasn't get as much use as it used to.  My Naked palette has pretty much taken over lol.  I hated the idea of it just collecting dust on my desk, so I cleaned/disinfected it, and I passed it over to my future mother-in-law.  She's never tried UD, and she's very loyal to Estee Lauder.  I think most of her products are Estee Lauder.  She tried the ammo palette, and she texted me after the first time she used it.  She's in love with UD now! She said the new shades made her feel like a new woman lol.  I'll have to see what ideas she came up with for the shades since she's a licensed cosmetologist.  There were some colors in that palette I had no clue what to do with lol.

I've not tried MUFE, and I've only tried a few MAC products.  It does sound like a dilemma, though!  From the pictures, it looks like MUFE and MAC have more options as to what size palette you'd like to create.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

@Kimmi your nail polish collection is super impressive! I should attempt to organize and re-do my collection but.. I have a feeling it may be an all day event, or at least a few hours. I made the resolution to toss out all my old polishes earlier this year but BAM ended up with at least 20 more bottles and nail stickers!

I can't post all my makeup as it will look like I have a serious and severe problem. I actually went through 3 boxes of gratis and freebies I had collected to send my sister for her bday and christmas coming up so she's getting a good free haul LOL.

Let's just say I have over 30 lipsticks opened, 8 mascara tubes, 5 foundations and 6 concealers I can think of off the top of my head. All that I rotate every day. =p I can't stop myself!

Luv&Lipgloss, Diana

Re: Photos of Your Stash

@dianabt  Thanks!  I think I have enough to start my own mini salon lol.  It's hard to beat freebies!

@sephoramusthave  I never knew what to do with Oil Slick, the white shade, and the darker plum shade lol.  I mainly used Mildew, Shattered, and Sin the most.

I wonder if there are any YouTube videos of people testing the durability of the different palettes?  I don't blame you for worrying about the protection of the shadows.  That's a lot of money to watch fall to the floor and possibly break.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

Kimmi----I love my Ammo palette and I use every color except the black one. I would use it as a daily liner if it didnt have glitter in it >_< But I will probably eventually use up the black as well in smokey eye looks because I only have 2 black shadows, and they are all in palettes.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

kimmi----I'm really drawn to the slim and sturdy compacts of MUFE and MAC. I dont need the 15 pan palette, I'm not a makeup artist so that would just be too much for me (and too much moolah!). 6-10 slots are good enough for me. I read that in the MUFE palette....that the insert is basically a SPONGE that holds all the shadows in place, that its really hard to get those shadows in and out of there and that there's no magnet or secure closure holding the very expensive shadows in place (20 bucks a pop). The MUFE palette has 10 slots so thats 200 bucks of shadow in there (without tax) that the palette needs to protect. I have one single MUFE shadow that I LOVE but I dont know how I would get this shadow out, its not like UD where you just pop them out at the bottom and insert the product in the palette with the name still on the bottom. I just have to see all the palettes in person before I buy anything.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

wow awesome collection kimmi1115, i would give 100 hearts if i could Smiley Happy

Re: Photos of Your Stash

I always have more makeup than I think I do, that why I like to count up my things every once in awhile or post pictures of my stash, just to keep myself in check hehe. I'm always shocked at the amount of lipgloss that I have, because its something that I rarely use. I'm a lipstick kind of gal.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

*bump*

Re: Photos of Your Stash

I'm swooning over your collections and storage solutions.

My collection is always expanding so I need some sort of drawer/vanity system that has room for growth. I really like the Alex which is narrow enough to fit in a corner or beside a vanity. There's a nice mixture of shadow and deeper drawers; it seems like a nice option for storing everything that is stored in various parts of my apartment: nail tools, travel pouches, samples, palettes, duplicates, foundations, my extra skincare products, special effects products, and hair stuff.

ALEX Drawer unit with 9 drawers IKEA High unit with many drawers means plenty of storage on minimum floor space.

I'm still looking for the 'perfect' vanity...which is turning into quite the project! I want something feminine with a bit of storage. I keep going back and fourth on if I want a mirrored vanity or not. I love the way mirrored vanities look, but I'm insanely clumsy and fearful I might crack it some how Smiley Sad.

Whimsically yours,
Janine

Re: Photos of Your Stash

You can't really see my makeup in the photo except for what's peeking through the clear organizer drawers, but there is no way I'm taking all that makeup out to take a picture and then having to put it back up...that's too much work, ha ha!  Anyway, I think you can get an idea of my stash and at least see the way I've got it organized.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

@tenngal  I love how you have it organized!  And I don't blame you for not taking it out lol.  I really like how you added labels to it.  Since I've gotten a few more products and I've moved back up to the off campus apartment, I've been rearranging how I have mine set.  I'm OCD about my organizing.  I didn't like how it was the first 2 times, so hopefully the third time is the charm lol.

Re: Photos of Your Stash

tenngal-

what is that you have your curling irons stored in? that looks really cool, i would love something like that to keep my curling irons in!

Re: Photos of Your Stash

@18psu55:  I bought the "styling tool holder" at Sally Beauty Supply a couple of years ago off their clearance table.  I had searched the Internet looking for one like my hair stylist had on her counter holding her hairdryer, curling iron, flat iron, etc., and couldn't fine one and I even asked my hair stylist if she could order one for me, but she didn't know where to get one except to go to a beauty supply store.  Anyway, I just got lucky and found that one on the clearance table.  If you have a Sally's Beauty Supply close by you could always ask them if they could order one for you or see if they have them online.
