It's 2025 and we're on YEAR EIGHT (8) of the Pan It! Challenge 🍾
The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started (please share the following)

Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:
Past Panning Challenges:
For those of you who are interested in trying the challenge but fear you may not finish or move as quickly as others, remember:
June Hair Products Progress
:
Empties (all are minis or samples):
Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask Packette 1 oz/ 30 mL Great! Will probably purchase full size.
Moroccanoil Mini Frizz Control Shampoo 2.4 oz / 70 ml: Great! Probably my new favorite Moroccanoil shampoo.
Moroccanoil Mini Moroccanoil Treatment 0.85 oz/ 25 mL # (sample)(my second [and last] one finished this year): Great, but I prefer the light version.
Oribe Gold Lust Repair and Restore Night Hair Cream 5 oz/150 mL (sample): Did nothing except made my hair harder to comb through
Plan for July:
Finish Christophe Robin Purifying shampoo
Finish Christophe Robin Purifying Conditioner Gelle with sea minerals
Continue working on Christophe Robin sea salt scrub.
Finish at least one Christophe Robin Hydrating mask sample (I have two).
Move on to Fable and Mane sample set, then Shu Uemura products.
Will do a head-to-head (pun intended) comparison of shu uemura Ashita Supreme Purifying Sea Salt Scalp Scrub 11.4 oz/ 325 g and the OG Christophe Robin salt scrub.
Items being evicted from the Shelves of Shame in June 2025:
BBW body cream in Pure Wonder - notes are iced rosé, star jasmine and warm white amber. I am in ~ pure wonder ~ of who actually likes this scent. Blessings upon those people because I have such a hard time stomaching this scent. I have one more scent that I’m currently working on that I also pretty actively dislike, and then I think I’m in the clear for at least a while.
BBW shower gel in Champagne Toast (travel size) - notes are bubbly champagne, sparkling berries and juicy tangerine. This was the last of my mini BBW shower gels and I’m happy it’s done. I don’t like BBW’s current shower gel formulation because it’s too thick to use without a loofah/scrubby, which is an item I don’t purchase anymore due to the plastic waste of it. Champagne Toast is a scent that is okay, but I’m not losing my mind over it—although it’s also better suited for cold months as opposed to the recent heat wave we’ve experienced, so that has probably influenced my nose during recent experiences.
CANDLES (June was the month of smelling like laundry)
BBW/White Barn Spring Clothesline - notes are lemon water, sun-dried blossoms and golden amber. This was a bit strong and cleaner-ish, probably due to the lemon water note. Packaging art is really cute and springy though. As much as the notes of laundry-scented candles sound lovely, in actuality they tend to be too sharp and strong for my nose; therefore, I think I’ll steer clear of laundry candles in the future.
BBW/White Barn Fresh Sheets - notes are crisp citrus, clean lavender and watery apple. Similar vibes as Spring Clothesline, but with lavender being strong instead of lemon.
BBW/White Barn Laundry Day - notes are fresh air, crisp eucalyptus and soft lavender. I think I liked this one the least, as it was very lavender and very strong.
BBW/White Barn Sun Drenched Linen - notes are clean cool linen, crisp tart apple and soft musk. Thankfully no lavender in this one; unfortunately, the apple note didn’t come through as strongly as I would have liked. After two apple-note candles that had hardly any apple scent, I am desperately in need of some good autumn apple candles for fall.
Pan Progress: June 2025
Looky there, all done with the OSEA body oil.
Monthly Summary: The "slow and steady" squad continues to be, uh, slow and steady, as far as progress goes. And, that's okay. In fact, for the remaining ones, it's a good thing. I say remaining, because we hit full pan, or in this instance, used up a product. Woohoo! 🙌
This month served as an eye opener, of sorts, for all the pan it! challenge items I haven't really been reaching for as often as I need to be - there's good reason for some and for others, I just need to be better mindful of incorporting them into a routine.
June All Star(s): The OSEA Undaria Algae Body Oil earns this distinction. Honorable mention in the All Star category goes to the Laneige lip sleeping mask (see below).
Next Month's Focus: I need to figure out a way to consistently incorporate the Hourglass finishing powder into my routine. Right now, the best approach that comes to mind is to find a way to incorporate it on a regular or semi-regular basis into the Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge 2025 and specifically, remembering to include it in a weekly capsule or two going forward. I'll have to noodle on that more. 🤔
Mid-Year Progress Report (as of 6.27.2025):
Hooray on the progress @itsfi. You’re killing it. I’m working on my Laneige peppermint lip mask too. More than half way done. But I really want it to be done so I can use the Matcha and Taro Bubble Tea. Normally I don’t open a new one till I finish the one I’m using but I couldn’t help myself and already try the Matcha. Don’t know what ppl complaining about but to me it smells just liked a cold Matcha Bubble Tea 😂🤣 Did you get these 2? PS YSL Stora Doll is still my favorite YSL quad. I’m wearing it today. Such a lovely quad. 🥰
Ooouh @blackkitty2014, the Laneige peppermint lip mask has that pretty swirl design - very pretty. Wow, halfway through? That's excellent progress. I don't have the recent releases; believe it or not, I stopped picking up the new releases sometime last year, or maybe even the year before that? Even the limited edition ones, though occasionally, I've made an exception for some of them. Cold matcha brew sounds like it would be a delicious scent; it can be hit or miss with being able to pick up the scent though - great that you did. There have been a couple of scents in the past that I just didn't get, or I smelled something different.
It's been a good month. Saw pan!
I have 4 body oils that usually just sit there. I was working on the pumpkin one, but decided each month to rotate them so everyone gets some use. This is a long project and I don't expect to see much the year.
It's also that time of year it's too hot and muggy inside work for eyeshadow so that will slow down as well. Not sure if the CT will last the summer, it's been drying out.
I forgot about this one but it did see progress!
Whoa! Look at you @Samtian! Those are some impressive numbers and that's a good pan on the Becca. The one on your CT shadow has been growing so much as well. Makes me happy to see both - you've worked hard on getting these results! That's smart to rotate your body oils. I've been trying to do that with my shower gels, primarily by season. With body oils or body lotions/creams, I end up opening up new ones so those are harder to rotate regularly 😬 but maybe I'll give it a try again.
May update. Finished several samples and minis, and one full-size. Comments below:
Moroccanoil Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo 6.7 oz/ 200 mL (sample). Fine, but I don't typically use purple shampoo, so it is unlikely that I will purchase.
Moroccanoil Hydrating Conditioner (deluxe sample/Sephora birthday gift). Fine, but there are more hydrating options out there.
Moroccanoil Mini Moroccanoil Treatment 0.85 oz/ 25 mL (deluxe sample/Sephora birthday gift). Always great, but I prefer the light version for my blonde hair.
Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo (mini size). This is great! Will likely repurchase full-size and keep in rotation.
Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream (sample). This is fine, but lacks heat protection, so it is probably not something I will purchase.
Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair!™ Deep Conditioning Hair Mask 8 oz/ 237 mL (full size) An old favorite for when my hair needs a little protein. I like that it has hydrolyzed wheat protein, which my hair seems to like.
Bumble and bumble Mini Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Heat Protectant Leave In Conditioner Primer 2 oz/... This was a sample, but I have purchased this several times. It is not my favorite leave-in conditioner (it is a little heavy for my hair), but it is a multitasker that comes in handy. It detangles, provides heat protection, and conditioning. I usually wait until it is on sale to purchase.
Plan for June is to finish Moroccanoil products and move on to Christophe Robin (as a treat).
Pan Progress: May 2025
@Samtian, fragrances can definitely offer up an education component. There are several scents where I just think "what's that?" and have to look it up to figure out which scent family it might belong to. Barenia is definitely a cooler weather scent for me. It's in my pan it! challenge this year and I'm going to have to find a more floral (nd maybe more fruit) forward scent to pair it with.
The OSEA should be used up this weekend (?) and then I can use the pump for the body lotion - the pumps that come with the product didn't work out so well for me. Using a different pump made it easier to dispense product out consistently and that made for a more enjoyable experience when I reached for it.
This is an update for April/May.
@Samtian, Wow, you finished a bottle of lotion!! That you've been working on for years. 😳 That's impressive! It may just be me, but I would fully count it. But, however you choose to record it in your tally, very nicely done; excellent work!
