Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

It's 2025 and we're on YEAR EIGHT (8) of the Pan It! Challenge 🍾

ElleElleG_0-1736241477220.gif

The "Rules"

To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections.  For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.

Getting Started (please share the following)

  • Which item(s) you would like to work on
  • How long you will work on said item
  • Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
  • Starting photo of item

Please Use This Thread To...

  • share what item(s) you are working on,
  • provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
  • ask questions,
  • encourage others,
  • motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)

Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:

Spoiler
  • Take photos!!  When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes 😃 *this is the number one recommendation for everyone, regardless of how long you’ve been panning! Those photos add up and can help you realize progress you might otherwise overlook.
  • If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
  • Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
  • Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
  • Have shadows with a ton of fall out?  Use water
  • Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs.  We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
  • Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.  It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
  • Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!  Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.  Move on to something else!  (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)

Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:

Spoiler
  • Roll the dice: number your items and use a random number generator to pick what you will use each (day/week/month/etc.)
  • Layer/Mask: items you are less fond of under things you like
  • Pan a Look: at the beginning of the week pick a look that you can wear everyday
  • Recreate: a look worn by a fellow BICer, celebrity, etc.
  • Spice up an "everyday" look by adding subtle pops of color (in the crease or on the lower lash line, mix lip products to make shades wearable, etc.)

Past Panning Challenges:

Spoiler

For those of you who are interested in trying the challenge but fear you may not finish or move as quickly as others, remember:

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

@lmaster Great job! What did you think of it?

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

Thank you @Samtian I didn't really see much difference,  but it very well could of been expired lol

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

I'm feeling pretty good about the progress I've made on my Yves Saint Laurent All Hours 24H Hyper Sunkissed Glow Bronzer 2 .

I think it agrees 😅

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

@CookieGirl1  You have made such happiness happen 😁

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

@Cissy63 Lol, it kinda made me smile, at least!

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

@CookieGirl1 🤣 that's awesome!

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

Woah this must be a great bronzer for you to make that incredible progress @CookieGirl1 👏👍🌹❤️🔥 I need to check this out when I’m in a market for a bronzer

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

@blackkitty2014 it is a nice bronzer but to be fair, it's currently my ONLY powder bronzer that I have in my collection at the moment which makes it easier to really make some steady, solid progress on it.

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

Thought I posted my progress lol guess not.

Use It- 19/333 Target 266
Pan It- 2/337 Target 33

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

@Samtian  You are off to a good start!  Slow and steady wins the race 😃

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

@Cissy63 Thank you, indeed it does!

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

Wow, you're making excellent progress @Samtian😊 I feel like the first of the year can mean a slow start but you have a great pace going. 👍

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

@itsfi Thank you! I start strong and then fizzle out haha.

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

It’s the way of panning efforts @Samtian - ebbs and flows. One month it feels like you’re hitting your stride and making noticeable progress. Another month, I can question why I thought it was a good idea to include a certain item in my pan it! challenge. 😂 Just gotta chip away at it … and hope to not be distracted by something else. lol

Re: Pan It! - 2025 Challenge

January Check-In
1.2025 Pan 1.jpg
1.2025 Pan 2.jpg

Monthly Summary:

  • I reached for each pan product at least once in January, most with more frequency than that. Not much change to show in photos for most items. I'll post photos of the items with noticeable progress, or on a quarterly basis, whichever comes first.

January All Stars:

  • I'm surprised with myself that I've been good with reaching for the haruharu wonder eye cream with some consistency. It's not as frequent as I'd like but we're taking baby steps to it.

  • OSEA Undaria Algae Body Oil continues to move at a good clip, even as I'm incorporating other body lotions, oils and creams into the rotation.

  • Yves Saint Laurent Couture Mini Clutch Eyeshadow Palette 100 Stora Dolls is the pan item that I find myself wanting to use the most. It's a beautiful quad - the shades are right up my alley; it applies like a dream - no fallout; and wears smoothly throughout the day with a primer - my eyelids are oily so I need to use a primer to keep product from creasing or fading. I'm not using this quad every day like I did ND Biba so it'll be interesting to see how long it takes me to hit pan on this one @Samtian @ElleElleG.

February Focus: I need to spend more time with the following pan products:

  • Cle de Peau The Foundation - this is a beautiful formula - in CdP fashion, it's a skincare-makeup hybrid. I'd like to include this in at least one makeup capsule every month, starting this month.

  • HERMÈS Barenia Eau de Parfum Perfume Set ~ I like the scent a lot; I've just been cycling through various fragrances. Aiming to reach for it at least 1-2 times per week in February

  • Hourglass Mini Ambient® Lighting Powder Dim Light is a very pretty shade. I reached for it once in January; need to step that up. I've gotten out of the habit of using a finishing powder. For February, my plan is to include it in at least 2 capsules in the makeup capsule challenge.
