Welcome to Year 7 of our Pan It! Challenge
The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.

Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:
Past Panning Challenges:
Project Pan 2024 - August & September updates
It’s the beginning of a new month, and that means it’s time to post an update! And I missed last month’s update post, so this update covers both August & September.
August was unfortunately not super productive for this challenge, but I did better overall in September, so you win some, you lose some I guess! As in previous update posts, I’ll only be including items/goals that I actually have progress to report.
Skincare items & goals
Hair items & goals
Makeup items & goals
Fragrance items & goals
Nails items & goals
Most other items/goals not specifically mentioned here have seen slow but steady progress, but nothing really noteworthy since I last updated. And that’s it for my updates for this month (er, the past 2 months actually 😅)! I’m really hoping to make some good progress in October and throughout the rest of the year, as much as possible. Participating in Project Pan the past couple of years has been great for helping me to use and finish more of my beauty stash, even when my progress isn’t always consistent from month to month, and I’m hoping to make as much progress as I can in the next 3 months!
Woah!!! You are killin' it @caitbird! Your panning progress is always so inspiring! I'm gobsmacked by how well you're doing with your hair care products, and your progress with your skincare items is magnificent! Excellent, excellent work. 😍 That washi tape is absolutely adorable! 😻
Curious to know how you liked / are liking the I'm From Fig cleansing balm? That CosRx propolis toner is a good one - CosRx, in general, has a solid lineup of skincare products.
That nail set is stunning on you. I've said it before and I'll say it again, your lashes caitbird!!! Beautiful!
@itsfi thank you so much! Haha yes I love that washi tape, it was an impulse purchase at Michaels yesterday 😂
I like the I'm From Fig cleansing balm quite a bit, it is effective, pleasant to use, and has a nice (but not overpowering) fig scent. The only reason I probably wouldn't repurchase it is that it has some very stiff competition - namely Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm which I love, and Then I Met You Living Cleansing Balm Makeup Remover which is probably my top favorite cleansing balm that I've tried. So yes, I really like it - there are just a couple of others that I like just a bit more 🙂
Ahh, thank you so much 💜
@caitbird You have done amazing and have been knocking them out of the park! Love the washi tape. I don't touch my bronzers either, but a while back I heard from an artist that said she likes to line the outer parts of her face with it. I did try that around my forehead (fivehead) and my temples and did like that. Maybe you could try that?
@Samtian thank you so much! Haha the washi tape I actually just got yesterday, I stopped at Michaels looking for gift wrap supplies but the cat washi tape was an impulse purchase I just couldn't resist 😅 That is a good tip for using bronzer, I will definitely have to try that!
And yes, the sheet masks have been a work in progress for me, that's a big reason why I included them as a goal in this year's project - I love the idea of sheet masks and I keep buying more to try, but then I never remember to use them! But thanks to this challenge, I have been doing better (for the most part lol).
Oh yeah thanks for the reminder to stop being lazy and use my sheet masks.
September Check In
Monthly Summary: September has been an excellent month as far as pan progress has been concerned. We have new pan on an old product (woohoo!!!) and are sooooo close on a few more.
September All Stars: I don't want to spoil it here, but will just say that I'm so glad to have hit pan on this one; I wasn't really sure I'd be able to do it, really, as there are others I naturally gravitate towards.
Next Month's Focus: I have a few things I want to focus on next month:
Without further adieu, here's where we stand (in almost no particular order 😆) with the pan it! challenge at the end of September -
So. Close. 😲 I would have finished these two if I was home last week. There's just the teensiest bit left of the cuticle oil and, maybe a few more uses for the OLEHENRIKSEN Wrinkle Blur™ Bakuchiol Eye Gel Crème 0.5 oz/ 15 mL.👍
Ceremonia Guava Hydrating Leave-In Conditioner 6.7 oz / 200 mL is a favorite of mine; less progress this month as I was using / testing other hair care products. Similarly, I was trying out another body moisturizer this month but both the Osea Anti-Aging Body Balm and the Osea Undaria Algae Body Oil will see more use, and more consistent use, next month - it'll be an Osea October. 😉
I like this oil, but there are more favorite ones in my stash. Still,I am interested in how much progress I can make by the end of the year. 🤔 Generally, I reach for hair oils like this shu uemura Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective Hair Oil about 2-3 times per week. I can see myself getting distracted by other hair care products, and other hair oils, in my collection so in order to keep this one from falling off my radar, I'll aim to use this one twice per week, every week from now until the end of the year.
Westman Atelier Lip Suede Lipstick Palette Les Nudes is coming along beautifully! ❤️ These two remaining shades will be perfect for the fall and winter seasons.
And now, my panning pals, a super exciting September surprise ....
This was probably the most challenging shadow in this entire palette (other than the black one which was only panned because it slipped and was crushed - ummm, still counting it as being panned, lol!!! It counts! 🤣) I hit pan earlier this month but because I'm a glutton for punishment, I kept using it (though definitely not as frequently as before) just to see how much pan I could make happen. But here we are ... no need to come up with creative ways to use this one so I could hit pan. 😂🤣😂 @Samtian @ElleElleG
My focus on this Biba palette now will be to finish up what remains of the rustic shade. Aiming for October or November. Who are we kidding?! I'd really like to see this one wrapped up sooner rather than later, so it's this shade that will be use in 99% of whatever eye looks I'll be doing next month.
One more month down, three to go for this year's pan it! challenge!
@itsfi woohoo, amazing work! Congrats on hitting pan on Prairie, and you have gotten so much done with that Westman Atelier lip palette! And you are sooo close with the eye cream and cuticle oil - looking forward to seeing those in a "finished" update post before long!
PS "an Osea October" I love it! I really like the Osea Undaria Algae Oil as well; I haven't used mine in a while because I've been trying to use up facial oils (by repurposing them as body oils) for my Project Pan 😅 but it is a favorite of mine.
Ooouh, that’s a great way to repurpose face oils @caitbird! Anything that doesn’t work on my face generally gets used somewhere on my body. It’s nice to be able to use things up that way. I’m hoping to make some good progress on the Osea this month. They’ll be my main body care products.
Thank you @lmaster. This is one of those palettes that takes some time to hit pan but once you do, more pan comes easily. I've discovered a new love for this one as a result of this thread. 👍
@itsfi My pebble pea brain rattled around in shock at the Westman lol. Oh that pan, that beautiful beautiful pan ❤️ what a long long long awaited sight!! CONGRATS!!!!!!
Thank you so much @Samtian. You've been with me from the very beginning with the ND palette. I have just those few bits of shadow in the rustic palette. We're under a heat advisory today (truthfully, not hot by the rest of the world's standards but we're not used to this) and I wasn't planning on wearing any makeup, possibly a tinted sunscreen if I was feeling fancy, but now I'm thinking perhaps I should wear some eyeshadow. This rustic shade isn't going to see full pan on its own; I have to help it along. 😂 Fine, tinted sunblock and eyeshadow, it is.
@itsfi Ooh a heat advisory, I'm sorry. But that is a great plan for the day! It has been quite the journey for sure!! I'm glad I've been able to witness it.
@Samtian, it’s okay; I should actually be used to it by now. This is the time of year when we have our summer weather. It typically comes in 3-day waves and then there’s a cool down. Sometimes the pattern goes on more for a couple of weeks. It always cools down (sometimes way down) just before Halloween.
lol, that’s a good way to describe it - a journey. A looooong one. 😆 I’m glad I’ve gone through with it (and that there are others, like you, who have helped me along the way, to help motivate and encourage me), but I’m thinking it’ll be a while before I reach for a larger palette to pan. 🤪
Getting so close to this year being done 😱 my projects are not. But I did see a good jump in the use it category.

I also brought out the food scale to weigh some things. I've decided if these 4 don't see some progress at the end of December, they are getting tossed. They saw like no progress.
During the chaos months I set aside cream highlighters to test. I really really loved the Becca Pearl so I am adding that in. As my work highlighter I will be using. I would have taken angles from down low but Apollo was wanting attention.
Slight progress on the rest of them. We do have a 2 week shutdown coming up, and honestly since I changed jobs it's hard getting up so early and getting ready so these haven't had as much attention.
@Samtian awesome job! It's great that you have been able to make progress with your items despite the "chaos months" (which made me laugh 😂)! And I love your idea to weigh your items, that's so resourceful!
@caitbird Thank you! They were chaos, but I wouldn't have had it any other way!
