Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Welcome to Year 7 of our Pan It! Challenge ElleElleG_0-1704168084184.gif

The "Rules"

To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections.  For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.

Getting Started (please share the following)

  • Which item(s) you would like to work on
  • How long you will work on said item
  • Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
  • Starting photo of item

Please Use This Thread To...

  • share what item(s) you are working on,
  • provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
  • ask questions,
  • encourage others,
  • motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)

Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:

  • Take photos!!  When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes 😃 *this is the number one recommendation for everyone, regardless of how long you’ve been panning! Those photos add up and can help you realize progress you might otherwise overlook.
  • If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
  • Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
  • Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
  • Have shadows with a ton of fall out?  Use water
  • Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs.  We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
  • Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.  It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
  • Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!  Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.  Move on to something else!  (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)

Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:

  • Roll the dice: number your items and use a random number generator to pick what you will use each (day/week/month/etc.)
  • Layer/Mask: items you are less fond of under things you like
  • Pan a Look: at the beginning of the week pick a look that you can wear everyday
  • Recreate: a look worn by a fellow BICer, celebrity, etc.
  • Spice up an "everyday" look by adding subtle pops of color (in the crease or on the lower lash line, mix lip products to make shades wearable, etc.)

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@jaaayp  Oooo that’s awesome to hear!! @itsfi  Loves the EADEM Milk Marvel Dark Spot Serum with Niacinamide and Vitamin C 1 oz/ 30 mL  and raves about it. I can’t wait to hear the comparison between the Tula and the Eadem!!

Hmmm no results after using the Ouai oil either. That’s interesting!!! 🤨

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Excellent progress @jaaayp !! I’ll be curious to see which make up items you choose to pan! I always find makeup so much harder than other products!

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Thank you @missjeanie and omg! I know!!! I was looking through my makeup couple days ago trying to decide and get started and I haven't chosen anything except the HAUS LABS BY LADY GAGA Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation with Fermented Arnica 100 Light... and that's because I bought some new loves and I don't want this bottle to go to waste.

I think Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Powder Bronzer Hoola will be one. I have a brand new one that hasn't been open yet and I really should use up the 10% left so I can start fresh!

Otherwise.. not sure. Any suggestions? 🤔

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Great job @jaaayp 👏. I like that Quai. I need to use it more often.

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Thank you! And yes! It smells so good @blackkitty2014 ! Have you seen any results from it though?

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@jaaayp @I tempted to say no, I don’t see any result but then I only use it once in a blue moon so probably that is not an accurate statement. I will put it in Pan it project and we’ll see 😘

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

OOOH yes, please @blackkitty2014 I absolutely love the smell and it makes my scalp feel clean/moisturized but I'm not seeing any volume or anything.... but my hair is kinda stubborn and doesn't react positively (nor negatively actually) to anything!

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

(Insert high-pitched joy shrieking)

I made such good progress on my sample perfumes! The last ones I have left for samples are a teeny Nest New York Balinese Coconut perfume oil rollerball and a deluxe-size Juliette Has A Gun Not A Perfume. As these are around a year or less old and I’m supremely happy with my empties, I’m switching gears to give more love and attention to my full-size fragrances from Juliette Has A Gun (Magnolia Bliss) and Valentino (Donna Born In Roma Intense and DBIR Green Stravaganza). I’ll sprinkle in Balinese Coconut as I feel like it—and will probably work on Not A Perfume more towards winter. For now I want to enjoy sprays again; the splash vial and rollerball samples were a bit of a pain. I’d love to see a big dent in Magnolia Bliss by the end of the year, as it is my oldest fragrance—I got it basically right when it launched.

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@KeriCherryDee Holy that is amazing!! Rollers and dabbers are very much indeed a pain, I feel that!

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Woooow!!! Great job 🙌 @KeriCherryDee

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@ather thank you!!

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@KeriCherryDee  Wow!! That’s an amazing achievement!! Great job!

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@blackkitty2014 @missjeanie @itsfi thank you all, as always 💖 never again will I let myself accumulate samples for more than like 6 months—I need to 👏 USE 👏 THE DARN 👏 PRODUCTS 🤣

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Oh great job @KeriCherryDee 👏. I need to work on my perfumes too.

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@KeriCherryDee Totally understand preferring sprays over rollerballs.  But heck yes!! Look at all those babys gone!!  Well done, enjoy some much loved spritz's now!

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Wowza @KeriCherryDee ‌‌❣️ I am returning your high pitched shrieks of joy! Over and over again! What an amazing accomplishment with these perfume samples and minis! Seriously impressive! 😍 You're amazing!! Excited to see you work through those full size sprays now! Show us how it's done! 👊

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

I'm so happy!! I used both of these huda lip glosses 🙌

I will be now using ciate London lip oil

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@lmaster Ooh what an accomplishment!!! Anytime I try to work on any, I lose them haha.

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@Samtian 🤣 Thanks so much

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@lmaster 2 lipglosses! Amazing. It takes me forever to finish lip products.

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Thank you!! Yeah it did take me awhile over a year for sure @BluePaisley
