To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started(please share the following)
Which item(s) you would like to work on
How long you will work on said item
Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
Starting photo of item
Please Use This Thread To...
share what item(s) you are working on,
provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
ask questions,
encourage others,
motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)
Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Take photos!!When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes😃*this is the number one recommendation for everyone, regardless of how long you’ve been panning! Those photos add up and can help you realize progress you might otherwise overlook.
If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
Have shadows with a ton of fall out?Use water
Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs. We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.Move on to something else! (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)
@lmaster, thank you. The pan / finishing product moments will be slower in coming; I may only have one more item in a position for either, but it’ll be nice to make more progress for next year.
Ahhh it’s been wonderful having not-angry skin 24/7…. So, shifting gears and going to focus on Project Panning my fragrances. I used to be a perfume-panning champ but I don’t do touch-ups in the middle of the day like I used to because I’m in a completely different job compared to a few year ago. Goal is to have the samples done by Christmas-ish this year and the full-size perfumes done by Christmas-ish 2024. Pretty much everything else I own is in regular rotation or daily use and I’m not actively panning it. Wish me luck!
@KeriCherryDee Awesome! Please keep us updated with progress photos! I planning on doing a fragrance pan in 2024 as well along with makeup to get through some full size bottles as well before they go bad!
@KeriCherryDee what a fun idea to do a fragrance centric pan project! I have struggled with my own fragrance goals this year, but it's been a learning experience haha. Good luck with your goals!
@KeriCherryDee Great idea to do a fragrance centered project! I love panning the sample sizes, gives opportunity to switch it up and not get too bored! Good luck ☘️
@itsfi thank you as always for being so supportive ❤️ I’m looking forward to making some space for new 10mL fragrances so I can have some more variety and prettiness on my vanity without spending full-size prices lol
Buh-bye angry skin!!! I’m so happy to hear that @KeriCherryDee. It’s work to be consistent with a skincare routine and I love, love, love hearing when folks find something that works for them.
What a fab idea to focus your panning efforts on fragrances. Your collection is gorgeous. You got this!
I've made some progress which is always better than none! Especially on items that just sit there looking pretty. I also found the lotion I had lost! Apparently someone didn't finish unpacking their suitcase last time they travelled...thanks Sephoria for helping me find it haha. Now that it is cooling off inside my work, and I changed areas, my eyeshadows finally started getting used again. Actually, looking at the photos of Bones, I've done better than I thought I had!
