Hey all you cool cats and kittens, welcome to YEAR 6 of the Pan It Challenge!
The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started(please share the following)
Which item(s) you would like to work on
How long you will work on said item
Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
Starting photo of item
Please Use This Thread To...
share what item(s) you are working on,
provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
ask questions,
encourage others,
motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)
Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Take photos!!When you think you arenโt making a dent in anything look back at those photos, Iโm certain youโll see some changes๐*this is the number one recommendation for everyone, regardless of how long youโve been panning! Those photos add up and can help you realize progress you might otherwise overlook.
If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades youโre not fond of).
Have shadows with a ton of fall out?Use water
Watching the progress of othersโ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs. We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
Donโt restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.Itโs more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
Makeup should be funโฆ.if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!Do not force yourself to use up something you donโt like.Move on to something else! (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)
You are doing so well @caitbird! That's awesome that you've found some products you like enough to purchase full sizes of! ๐ I feel like I've learned so much from these project pans - going through my own projects and hearing from folks about theirs. It's all a work in progress, not just working through the product but figuring out what approach or system works best for you to shop your stash and use what you have.
It may take some trial and error but I know you'll come up with a good plan to work through your fragrances. Is there somewhere in your house you can place them so they are not out of sight? I have a little ledge near my front door where I keep my keys and other things I need to take with me when I head out the door - sometimes, I will place whatever it is I may want to use there so I remember - keys, fob, mask, phone, fragrance I want to try, lip balm I'm working through, etc.
@itsfi thank you so much! It has definitely been a learning experience for me too, and of course it is both interesting and inspiring to see what other folks are working on for their projects!
That's a good idea to set out a fragrance ahead of time - I think I will try that, setting it out the night before, and see if that helps me remember. Thanks for the suggestion!
This is very bittersweet; I love the satisfaction of finishing a product but a little sad that now it's gone! This WAS my MAKEUP BY MARIO SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Enhancerยฎ Medium that I received in gratis from @TeamBIC last summer and I knew instantly that I was going to love it (clearly--I loved it to death, lol). It's technically considered to be a multi-purpose product but I used it as a bronzer and if there aren't any new bronzers that emerge for the summer that call to me even more, I could absolutely see myself repurchasing this one.
@CookieGirl1 Oh my gosh... you flew though that bronzer! I have this one as well and I too use it as a bronzer. It's a good one for sure. I never would have picked it for myself, but once I tried it... yep, glad to have this one!
@missjeanie I had actually considered it even before it was generously gifted so I was incredibly happy to get it--and to use it. I don't usually have many bronzers in my collection at one time so I'm able to use the ones that I DO have more quickly. That being said, I genuinely loved this one!
@CookieGirl1 - I received this product gratis from Sephora as well and I've barely touched mine! Mostly because it's waaaaay too dark for me. I did use it the other day for the Makeup Challenge of the Week thread. When I do use it, I use it as a blush. Now that it's on my radar again, I think I may use it more often.
@Titian06 I need to sheer it out a bit but I can easily make it work. It helps that I like the slightly reddish undertone and therefore it doesn't pull orange on me like a lot of bronzers do.
@Samtian I didn't have trouble panning this one. Realistically there isn't a ton of product in the compact but it made it even easier for me because I actually enjoyed using it!
