To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started(please share the following)
Which item(s) you would like to work on
How long you will work on said item
Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
Starting photo of item
Please Use This Thread To...
share what item(s) you are working on,
provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
ask questions,
encourage others,
motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)
Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Take photos!!When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes😃*this is the number one recommendation for everyone, regardless of how long you’ve been panning! Those photos add up and can help you realize progress you might otherwise overlook.
If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
Have shadows with a ton of fall out?Use water
Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs. We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.Move on to something else! (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)
I did have a few in good sizes 💕 large testers are my absolute weakness/favorite and when it's a gwp.. agh I'm so weak 😁
@itsfi finding this pan project thread has been so great at keeping me motivated and on track with using up things that were due to be used, and seeing everyone tackling make-up, Wow! That's dedication to hit pan on any powder imo, it's awesome to see!
Awesome empties @CynthieLu -- Glow Recipe is such a nice brand, I'm fond of many of their products too, especially that cleanser. I like your sampler line-up for Feb. Lots of fun/good stuff. Hope you have another great month of panning!
Thank you so much! @heavyhedon, My giant bin of samples was becoming a looming monster 👻😅 I'm happy to have used up so much of it, tried a bunch of fun new things and made headway on making space for more thoughtful purchases 😇 its a great feeling to end this month on 💕
Hey there lovelies! This Tarte blush isn't in my project pan for this year, but it was an item I included in pan challenges for the last 3 years. This happened . . . 😞
Ruh-roh...
Any thoughts on what I should do? I thought about just tossing it, but there's a small part of me that wants to try to use it up. Should I find a small jar to put the pieces in and treat it like a not-at-all-elegant-or-luxe-looking-version-of-the-Guerlain-pearls? I laugh as I say that because those pieces look nothing like the Guerlain pearls? 😅 Or should I try to grind the pieces into a finely milled powder? Or repress it? Or should I just toss it? Or something else?
Ahhhh @heartsmyface!! You, my friend, always have fab ideas! 💡I do have some foundations I’m desperately wanting to work my way through and the idea of trying it as a cream blush is appealing. The lip gloss angle is also intriguing 🤔 … says the girl with more lip glosses than she can count with her fingers … 😆
@itsfi Oh noooooo. I’m not crying you’re crying. This is so sad. I think I would put it in a small jar and pretend it’s like the Guerlain. Which shade is it? I think I have this one too.
Yeah @ather, I’m crushed about it. Hahahaha! Pun not at all intended but I’m loving it! 🤪 If only I had been savvy enough to have intended it. 😆
It’s tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush Paaarty - I have it in varying sizes - for the longest time, it seemed like a mini was included in every Tarte gwp! I don’t really need to use it up, just sorta feeling like I should. Or at least give it a try. 🤔
@itsfi hmmm...decisions decisions. If it were me I would toss it because I am lazy haha...but maybe you can try one of your ideas and see how it goes and if it preforms the same. If you are happy with it, keep it? If you dont use it, toss it?
Hahaha @Mellmars1185! I’m good with lazy being a factor to consider in what to do here. 👍🏼😆 It would make the decision much easier too! I have a feeling I’ll go your route of trying to use it for a (short 😂) period of time and see if that’s sustainable for me in the long haul.
Follow your heart @itsfi If you want to soldier on with it you've listed ways to give it a try, but if you don't find any happiness or excitement with it anymore maybe it's time for it to go 😉
Yeah @CynthieLu, this one took a beating all around. 😬 Good advice. My heart tells me to “make up your mind already, itsfi!!” 🤣 I’ll decide soon - ish. Hahaha!
@itsfi Oh dear, well, I don’t know if it will do well using it in a small jar with a brush. Maybe that’s the easiest if you want to keep it. If it still brings it pleasure to wear it then try one of the ways to keep it. I would try the easiest way first. But, if it’s not something you enjoy wearing anymore, then toss it.
