I'm claiming a 2022 that's greater than our wildest imaginations, also for my longtimers this will be our FIFTH YEAR doing this challenge. Thanks to all who've stuck around and everyone who's tested themselves and jumped into the madness. You all are amazing 😘
The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started(please share the following)
Which item(s) you would like to work on
How long you will work on said item
Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
Starting photo of item
Please Use This Thread To...
share what item(s) you are working on,
provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
ask questions,
encourage others,
motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)
Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Take photos!!When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes😃
If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
Have shadows with a ton of fall out?Use water
Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs. We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.Move on to something else! (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)
Hahaha @QueenMarceline! That could be the fastest eyeshadow pan ever. 😆 I’m still baffled about how that happened - was I half asleep and don’t remember what happened? 🤪
@itsfi Might not have felt like much but at least you used them all at least once. Can't wait to see Spot replaced! Also excited to see what shade takes the lead.
@Samtian, awww, thank you! I need to find ways to make it easier to reach for the products that I tend to forget about if it's not staring right at me. 😏 It'll be fun to see which of the other shades ends up being used more - nothing stands out at the moment, but that could change if I get fixated on a particular color this month.
@Samtian, here's the shade I'll sub in for Spot. It's only the first day I'm using it, but I think I may have just found the eye color I'll be fixated on this month. 😂
You've got a lot going here for one month @itsfi , excited to find out how what that full pan on the Biba will be. o sorry to hear about the black shade, what a bummer. But-- You have pan in more shades than not!!!!
I've never tried Touch in Sol primer, but I like the Belif eye cream, though it has a stronger (natural) scent than is my preference. Nice, but strong.
@heavyhedon, I hear ya on the scent of the belif. This full size seems to have a stronger scent than the DS mini I used previously. Hmmm... If I reach for it on a regular basis, maybe I'll get used to the scent. lol. It takes me forever to get through eye creams so it'll be interesting to see much of this jar I get through by year end.
You know, it'll probably be for the best that the black shadow is no more; I had no plans to pan that shade - I rarely used it.
@heavyhedon, ohhhh, I envy you; I have the hardest time getting black eyeshadow to work for me - as a shadow, it just looks messy on me (and not the good kind of a messy eye look either), and as a liner, it tends to smudge a lot and often and make a mess or I get fallout from it. A sultry, smokey eye look with black eyeshadow is a far off dream. I just stick to black liquid liner.
@Mellmars1185, thank you! These are probably the panning products that will be easier for me to work my way through (except for that eye cream - lol); updates for the harder ones will be part of another update. We'll see how the bed sheets come out. I'm not hopeful it will come out entirely, but at least, I saw it before putting everything in the wash.
Yikes. Fingers crossed. Once I put a handmade nightshirt I LOVED into the washer and dryer w/o noticing there was a bottle of nail polish in the pocket. Made it through the wash, but in the dryer... it was a disaster.
@heavyhedon, oh noooo!! 😱 Those darn pockets! They're great except when it comes to things like that, and for it to happen to a loved handmade piece too - ugh!! The bed sheets could have come out worse than they did; I got out most of it before loading it in the wash; it won't go away completely but it looks like it'll fade over time. That end of the sheets will end up at the foot of the mattress. 😂
update, I've been doing so good at using the products I choose, however,,, this popsugar gloss has to go, the smell is screaming EXPIRED!! so it's getting replaced by this CT gloss
@lmaster, eek! Good call on swapping out that popsugar gloss! 😬 It’s great to work though what we have but a stinky smelling expired lip gloss? It was definitely time to let that gloss go!
