HUGE round of applause for the 2020 Panners ๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ Despite an incredibly hectic year I couldn't be more proud of each and every one of you who spent even a second thinking about your projects. It was a huge inspiration for me and I'm sure others as well. Cannot wait to see your new projects and whatever this year has in store for us!
The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started(please share the following)
Which item(s) you would like to work on
How long you will work on said item
Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
Starting photo of item
Please Use This Thread To...
share what item(s) you are working on,
provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
ask questions,
encourage others,
motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)
Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Take photos!!When you think you arenโt making a dent in anything look back at those photos, Iโm certain youโll see some changes๐
If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades youโre not fond of).
Have shadows with a ton of fall out?Use water
Watching the progress of othersโ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs. We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
Donโt restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.Itโs more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
Makeup should be funโฆ.if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!Do not force yourself to use up something you donโt like.Move on to something else! (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)
@heavyhedon So true. Iโve been so obsessed with trying new things that would be โbetterโ Iโve gotten in a bad habit of getting soooo many products. In 2022 my goal is to use what I have keep it simple and stick to what works!!
I get it @ather, I really do. I'm trying to shift my thinking - it's wasting product if I keep trying to use it up even though it's doing me no favors. If it's something that can be passed along, then it should - by me continuing to try to make it work, maybe I'm keeping it from someone else for whom it will be or become a favorite or holy grail.
Oh my goodness, you shouldn't use that product any more!! If your face is getting better when you're off of it, you should stay off of it. With mask wearing and how long you have to have a mask on, you shouldn't have to deal with using a product that irritates your skin. Hopefully your husband will be game for helping you use things up.
I went with a few products (4 or 5) for the first year I took part in project pan and picked a variety of products (makeup, skincare, hair care, nail care). I did the same thing this year too - some goals included finishing product within a certain period of time (be it the year, 6 months, etc.), another goal was just to hit pan on something, and, for some products it was just to see how much I used up within a period of time so I could decide whether to keep it or destash / rehome it.
Welcome @Mellmars1185 ! Both this challenge and the low buy thread, which I also need to start again for 2022, have helped me curve my spending a ton. I'm obsessed with eyeshadow and after my first experience panning I realized just how unrealistic my collection was. I've also learned what products I genuinely enjoy from beginning to end and which I should pass on. Hope this helps you in the same way.
@ElleElleG -- thank you for these threads, they have really helped me too. I'm starting my third year of lockdown, and really need to focus on what I have, and enjoy same.
My first post to this thread. I may be a little late but thougt i would give it a try and start fresh in 2022! I rarely hit the pan because i always reach for new products to try. Well these 2 products are a hit with me! I dont beleive Milk Makeup sells this shade anymore which is too bad because it gives such a nice glow!!!
