HUGE round of applause for the 2020 Panners ๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ Despite an incredibly hectic year I couldn't be more proud of each and every one of you who spent even a second thinking about your projects. It was a huge inspiration for me and I'm sure others as well. Cannot wait to see your new projects and whatever this year has in store for us!
The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started(please share the following)
Which item(s) you would like to work on
How long you will work on said item
Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
Starting photo of item
Please Use This Thread To...
share what item(s) you are working on,
provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
ask questions,
encourage others,
motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)
Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Take photos!!When you think you arenโt making a dent in anything look back at those photos, Iโm certain youโll see some changes๐
If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades youโre not fond of).
Have shadows with a ton of fall out?Use water
Watching the progress of othersโ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs. We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
Donโt restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.Itโs more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
Makeup should be funโฆ.if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!Do not force yourself to use up something you donโt like.Move on to something else! (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)
Thank you so much @BluePaisley! ๐ It took years and the encouragement and support of the community on this thread to make it happen. Iโm also keeping this photo because Iโm not sure I would believe myself if I didnโt have this pic of it. ๐
Thank you so much @heavyhedon! At first I thought a piece of glitter from some other product had fallen into the blush ๐๐๐ because I was not expecting to hit pan on it - I wasn't so sure it had an actual bottom. Hahaha! Oh my goodness, I hit a rough patch for maybe 3 weeks in November where my skin was soooooo dry and itchy. So it was a body oil and the B&BW cream coming out of the shower and another layer before going to bed.
@ElleElleG, ohhh, I feel happy to see whatever little bit of pan has showed up on that Tarte blush, especially given how much I neglected it during last year's project pan. I wouldn't have continued to work on the blush if it were not for this thread and everyone here being so encouraging!
I seem to always get excited around this time of year to get ready for the next pan year haha. I already have most of my categories ready and photographed. Just waiting till the end of the year for anything else I might find or get. Every category but 2 have their own goals. The other 2 are things I know I won't pan or use up, but things I need to get more use into. This year I started at 781, next year 745+. I decided not to count my little perfume samplers this time but I know its over 200, hence the + lol.
I'm excited to see everyone else's panning projects for the new year-- here and on YT. Really working on my own last things I might get done from this year, right now.
@Samtian -- with you on those little perfume samplers. I have so many, and I can't wear scent everyday or my skin gets oversensitive and rashy. Looking forward to your next line-up!
Small update for me. My smell is trying to come back, maybe 20-30% and I am able to smell the Pink body mist I was working on. I don't like it haha I'm kicking it out and going to move on to the Hollister one I set aside, so I could focus on the Pink.
@Samtian, yessss to your sense of smell coming back!! ๐๐ผ Bummer that the Pink body mist isnโt working for you, but hey, now thereโs one more product destashed! ๐
