Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Welcome to the 2021 Pan It Challenge !!

HUGE round of applause for the 2020 Panners ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ Despite an incredibly hectic year I couldn't be more proud of each and every one of you who spent even a second thinking about your projects.  It was a huge inspiration for me and I'm sure others as well.  Cannot wait to see your new projects and whatever this year has in store for us!

The "Rules"

To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections.  For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.

Getting Started (please share the following)

  • Which item(s) you would like to work on
  • How long you will work on said item
  • Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
  • Starting photo of item

Please Use This Thread To...

  • share what item(s) you are working on,
  • provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
  • ask questions,
  • encourage others,
  • motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)

Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:

Spoiler
  • Take photos!!  When you think you arenโ€™t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, Iโ€™m certain youโ€™ll see some changes ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  • If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
  • Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
  • Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades youโ€™re not fond of).
  • Have shadows with a ton of fall out?  Use water
  • Watching the progress of othersโ€™ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs.  We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
  • Donโ€™t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.  Itโ€™s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
  • Makeup should be funโ€ฆ.if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!  Do not force yourself to use up something you donโ€™t like.  Move on to something else!  (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)

Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:

Spoiler
  • Roll the dice: number your items and use a random number generator to pick what you will use each (day/week/month/etc.)
  • Layer/Mask: items you are less fond of under things you like
  • Pan a Look: at the beginning of the week pick a look that you can wear everyday
  • Recreate: a look worn by a fellow BICer, celebrity, etc.
  • Spice up an "everyday" look by adding subtle pops of color (in the crease or on the lower lash line, mix lip products to make shades wearable, etc.)

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Thank you, @heavyhedon!! It's so close to being finished ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Wowwy @haleyvvvv! ๐Ÿคฉ Itโ€™s so exciting for me to see your progress on the bronzer and highlight! I imagine it must be that much more satisfying for you! You go girl! ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Thank you, @itsfi!! I'm SO excited about panning that bronzer and the highighter is so close to being done!! I really want to move on to other things in my collection and this process really shows how long it takes to finish products.

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

@haleyvvvv Woo great work! I can't wait to see it at the end!

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Thank you, @Samtian!!

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Great job- you can do it with the blush. Your almost there!

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Thank you, @BluePaisley!! I can almost feel how close I am to pan on it!! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

September was a GOOD month for panning! ๐Ÿ˜

Progress on the Tarte 12-Hour Amazonian Clay Blush Paaarty is / has been super slow and that can be deflating on occasion, but at the same time, when I think about the progress I have made with it so far, I feel good. I'm also happy that I'm at least reaching for this blush and using it with some regularity. That was not at all the case last year, so there's been improvement in that regard. I'm still not sure this blush actually has a bottom ๐Ÿ˜†,  but I'll keep incorporating it into my looks and hopefully (fingers crossed), I'll be able to hit pan by the end of the year. "I think I can, I think I can . . . "

Plugging away on this one.Plugging away on this one.

Now for some pan!

Woohoo!Woohoo! The Ordinary Hair Density Serum is DONE!!! Not sure I'll repurchase. It was alright. I plan on giving my hair a breather from this serum or ones like it to see if it worked. Absence may make the heart grow fonder. Or perhaps, the hair.

Strivectin TL Advanced Neck Tightening Cream is D - O - N - E, done!!! It is something I would consider repurchasing, but I have a few more neck creams and neck serums to work my way through before I even think about picking up another neck product.

And, wait for it . . .
It's there! You can barely see it, but it's there . . . I see pan! It's there! You can barely see it, but it's there . . . I see pan!
I hit pan on another eye shadow in the Natasha Denona Biba Eye Shadow Palette. Not the shadow I thought I would or was aiming for (sculpture), but I'm taking it! I juuuuuuust barely hit pan (see up close photo in spoiler), but again, I'll take it. This means I met my goal for this palette for the year. Exhales. I like this Biba palette but I'm also a smidge tired of using it almost exclusively for so long. My plan for October is to reach for Biba at least 3 times per week  and incorporate some of my other eye shadows into my daily makeup routine.
Spoiler
There it is - pan! All this time I thought the shadow name was Tar. Now, I know. Tor.There it is - pan! All this time I thought the shadow name was Tar. Now, I know. Tor.

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

@itsfi, congrats on finishing the skin/hair care products and for making great progress on the eyeshadow and blush!

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Thank you @TraceyEB! Iโ€™ve been trying to work through my products and not have too many open at once. Makeup and hair care is usually harder for me but has been better since Iโ€™ve committed to project pan last year and this year. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Wonderful job with the new eyeshadow pan! Your blush is also looking really really close to pan!

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Thank you @BluePaisley! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Thatโ€™s such an encouraging word about the blush. This is probably the most Iโ€™ve used of any one blush for such a period of time. ๐Ÿ˜†

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Woo-hoo, @itsfi!! ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿคฏ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿช…๐ŸŽŠ Nicely done for September!! Just the amount of pan you've hit in the Biba is honestly mind-blowing; I couldn't use a single palette that much, I think.

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Thank you @haleyvvvv! ๐Ÿ˜Š This is the first palette Iโ€™ve put to the project pan test. I think Iโ€™ve only ever panned one single eyeshadow.  At some point it panning a few shadows in this palette became something I was adamant about doing. ๐Ÿ˜†

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Wow, @itsfi, your Biba palette has definitely seen some love!

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Thank you @CookieGirl1! ๐Ÿ˜€ Itโ€™ll be 2 years in December of having the palette in my project pan. Gave me something to focus on during the early days of the stay at home.

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

@itsfi Awe Sculpture was so close!! Congrats on hitting so many of your targets!!

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

Thank you @Samtian! Pan on Tor really snuck up on me. ๐Ÿ˜† Gonna aim for hitting pan on Sculpture; it looks like Iโ€™m close, or maybe thatโ€™s wishful thinking. Lol.

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

@itsfi you are definitely close!

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

@itsfi -- wow, major month for you! Tor is gorgeous, that's the shade that makes me want that palette most, honestly. Sculpture next.

And most of the pattern is off of Paarty-- it's amazing how long that takes to do. I think you'll get pan in a month more.

Re: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge ๐Ÿ†

@heavyhedon, thank you for that encouraging word on the blush. Itโ€™s good motivation to keep pressing forward. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Yes!!! That last row (except for the black shadow) was what caught my eye in this palette and a couple of the sparkly shadows.
