HUGE round of applause for the 2020 Panners ๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ Despite an incredibly hectic year I couldn't be more proud of each and every one of you who spent even a second thinking about your projects. It was a huge inspiration for me and I'm sure others as well. Cannot wait to see your new projects and whatever this year has in store for us!
The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started(please share the following)
Which item(s) you would like to work on
How long you will work on said item
Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
Starting photo of item
Please Use This Thread To...
share what item(s) you are working on,
provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
ask questions,
encourage others,
motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)
Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Take photos!!When you think you arenโt making a dent in anything look back at those photos, Iโm certain youโll see some changes๐
If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades youโre not fond of).
Have shadows with a ton of fall out?Use water
Watching the progress of othersโ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs. We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
Donโt restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.Itโs more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
Makeup should be funโฆ.if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!Do not force yourself to use up something you donโt like.Move on to something else! (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)
It is! I can agree, though I didn't think of it, just twisted it to my own needs. I believe I first saw a version from Too Much Tash on YT; I think she credits someone else originally but not sure.
@heavyhedon, thank you so much for the tag. I have 4 of the 5 items picked out. Will get that 5th one decided on soon and post my 5 before Fall. ๐ Your choices are great and it will be awesome to see your progress! ๐
No visible progress on my palette (TF White Chocolate Chip mini) or the highlighter, UD Sin (trial size).
I was making good strides with the Hourglass GIRL Lip Stylo Futurist mini, till we had a very hot day and it broke in the tube. I scraped it into a small container, and now it's going slower, since that shade is just easier to use with an applicator.
empty tubea fair amount of Futurist left to use
Then a few days ago, my Dirty Little Secrets Blush in Kitty Pink got knocked around on the counter, and it shattered inside the closed container. I've repressed it, and probably it won't take long to finish now:
Kitty Pink, going fast.
That's all for now, haven't decided whether to add a "summer" item in yet.
@heavyhedon Wow I applaud you for re-potting the lip stylo instead of parting ways with it! I like your perseverance!๐ I'm trying to finish up a cream blush of mine (I mainly use it as an eyeshadow tho). It's slow going but I'll probably end up posting it on the Empties thread ๐
@Guessgal Thanks! I really do like the color, even though I have several similar shades. Can't have enough nudes. Maybe if I keep a lip brush on my desk, I'll use that stylo-pot more.
@heavyhedon, thatโs a bummer about the lippie and blush but excellent work repairing them! ๐๐ผ You will be hitting pan soon enough! Oh, summer panning sounds like a good idea. Will try to look through my stash this weekend for an item or two.
@itsfi -- it's such an up & down year/season etc. Normally I'd have picked up a little tan, & be going places to wear all my colors I can't wear without a little tan. That's just not happening.
Thinking maybe I'll do a five by fall, with a set number of times to use said item by fall.
@heavyhedon, I think I may join you in that endeavor. I pulled out some products to consider and was thinking about trying to finish by end of October. I like your 5 by fall idea a lot! ๐๐ผ Will pick 5 out of the things I set aside.
