2021 Challenge located here: Pan It! - 2021 Challenge 🏆
It's time for a new decade, and a new Project Pan!
Before we dive into the details, I want to thank each and every one of you for joining me in another year of panning. I cannot believe that this thread marks the 4th year of this challenge and how much it has grown over the years. It's been a joy to witness so many of you participate and encourage others along the way. For those of you thinking, "there's no way I can do that," think again! We've all said that at one time or another, and some of the biggest skeptics have grown to take panning by storm. Thank you all for your never ending inspiration 😘. Cheers to a new decade 🥂-Elle

The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.

Checking in with my progress for the first quarter! 🙂 Wow, that flew by! I started working towards panning some new products this month (to replace ones I finished), continue to stall on a couple of items, and made some noticeable progress on my big project for the year.
2020 Project Pan - Progress Reports (as of April 1, 2020)
I'm getting into the habit of reaching for this every morning before I make the commute to my dining room table to get some work done! It's been nice having this palette in my morning routine. ❤️
Project: Natasha Denona Biba Palette
Time: through 2020. This is my long term project for the year.
Goal: To wear eye shadow more regularly than I have been, and to pan at least one, maybe 2, or more, of these beautiful shadows
Update (4.1.2020): Visible progress!!! Yes!!! I reached for this palette 25 out of the 31 days in the month, which was a surprise to me as well! The most used shadow for March was Tusk (last row, last shadow). My eyelid is darker than my complexion and Tusk makes that less noticeable; does a really nice job of even out my skin tone. The shadow looks more opaque on my lids when I apply two layers, which is how I wore the shadow most days in March - 2 layers of Tusk and a coat of mascara! ❤️❤️ Monroe (2nd row, 2nd shadow) continued to get some love this month and I dipped my brush into Seed (last row, first shadow) a handful of times this month as well. I also started experimenting with Rayon (2nd row, 3rd shadow) this past weekend, applying it over Tusk and in the crease, with a pop of Shine (1st row, last shadow). I was nervous that the reddish hue from Rayon would be too much for me but adding a light dusting of Shine helped to tone down the red while at the same time giving my lids some sparkle. ❤️
Look!!! A noticeable dent! This is my most used shadow in the palette and I'm guessing it will be the first shade to hit pan.
Project: Kerastase Nutritive 8H Magic Night Serum
Time: 6 months from start (end of August). Bottle was 75% full when I included this into my 2020 Project Pan.
Goal: I received this as gratis and really liked it the first month of using it, but since then I've barely reached for it. Would like to see if it's something I'd purchase on my own (and use more regularly for my hair care) as I do think it's a good product. I'm hoping to use this serum 1-2 times per week.
Update (4.1.2020): I'm probably averaging once per week for use of this product and some weeks, I use it in the mornings. It's great at keeping my hair detangled and smooth. I need to do a better job at using it more regularly and more frequently.
I pulled these out to replace products I finished in February. I spent March trying to get into a rhythm with these two products - it's been easier with the cuticle oil, but I'm not giving up on the Kerastase.
Project: NCLA So Rich Vitamin-E Infused Cuticle Oil Matcha Green Tea
Time: 6 months from start (end of August)
Goal: To be better, more consistent with caring for my nails. Would like to incorporate cuticle oil before bed 2-3 nights per week.
Update (4.1.2020): It was hit or miss with the cuticle oil in March. Started out slow at the beginning of the month and only used this once the first week, but I got better about it since working from home. The last couple of weeks, with the shelter-in-place orders in effect, I've probably used the cuticle oil at least 3 times per week, and with much more uses this past week - I applied cuticle oil 2x per day for 4 days last week. And my nails are looking better as a result - little to no peeling or breakage.
Project: Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Honey Mask to Purify and Nourish
Time: 9 months from start (end of November)
Goal: To incorporate this into my masking routine more regularly, especially with my skin leaning more dehydrated-combo, for the most part, with the seasonable shift and likely continuing with that trend as the warmer weather (soon) approaches
Update (4.1.2020): Sigh. 😐 No significant change in amount remaining in the jar. Despite my intentions (and actual need of my skin to use this mask), I only reached for it twice in March, once on my chin, jawline and neck, and once as a spot treatment on two spots. My goal in April is to use this mask 2x per week, regularly - once during the weekday and once during the weekend.
Project: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush - Paaarty
Time: 6 months (June)
Goal: To get into habit of using blush again on a more regular basis; and to see how I like this color/formula.
Update (4.1.2020): Grrr! I keep overlooking this blush as part of my makeup routine. Will try to do better in the next few months.
Mission Accomplished: Completed 2020 Project Pan
Project: Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence
Time: 3-4 months (March/April)
Goal: It’s been a while since I’ve incorporated a first treatment essence in my skincare routine and this one could use some attention. I’m hoping to finish the bottle and see if this is a dupe for the Missha First Treatment Essence.
Results (March 2020): I finished the bottle (yay!) around the middle of the month! I like this essence, but at the moment will not repurchase because I have a lot of essences / toners that I would like to get through before repurchasing anything that is not an absolute love.
Project: belif Body Bomba - Ylang Ylang
Time: 3-4 months (March / April)
Goal: I’ve had this bottle for a while now. I like the scent and consistency but this keeps getting passed over. I have a little more than half the bottle left and want to finish it up. Hoping that putting this into the rotation and part of project pan will get it some use.
Results (February 2020): This was finished in February and is a product I love. I've actually been a bit bummed that I don't have it around anymore. It did an especially nice job of keeping my skin moisturized during the winter and works wonders at keeping the soles of my feet soft and smooth. I will most definitely repurchase this one, but want to work through similar products I have in my stash first.
Project: The Face Shop Natural Eco Sun Baby Mild Sunscreen Cushion
Time: 3 months (by March 30)
Goal: To test out an SPF product for reapplying throughout the day
Wishing everyone good health. Keep safe and be well, BIC! 💗
Thank you @xcicee! 😃 Now I want to try using the palette every day this month!! 😲 I suppose I should try the other shades but I just keep going back to the same ones. 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you @sonnydee! 🤗 I was very surprised that I’ve been so good with wearing eye shadow while working from home. 🙌🏼 The consistency of it in my morning routine has been very ... comforting in a way. 🤷🏻♀️😊 I tell myself to try a new shadow in the palette and after a day or two, I’m back to the same old ones. Hahaha! 😂
Nice work @KeriCherryDee! Loved that you destashed some products and are donating some as well. 💗💕💗💕
Well Ive taken my sweet time updating my February progress. Ive been quite busy (and lazy) lately so i never uploaded my pictures. I will update hopefully sooner at the beginning of April.
Quite a few exciting updates. I used up my Milk set+ smooth powder(i love this powder), the Farsali jelly beam (i mixed it into my primer for a glowy base), the Stellar brilliant primer (i used it everyday and its very smoothing), the Jouer concealer (very nice but very full coverage), a Rodial smokey black liner, the Tarte rainforest of the sea foundation (beautiful finish) and lastly the Nomad mini bronzer (too orange so i cringe for myself).
I also decluttered the Nomad mini highlight since i never reached for it as well as the Dome beauty blush, the Marc Jacobs liquid lip crayons and the Estee edit lip liner none of which i ever wanted to use and i dont want to waste time hate panning.
Ive made good progress on the Essence black eyeliner and the Cover FX yellow corrector. The Kaja cushion blush is drying out but i do plan to use it as much as i can until it does.
I introduced a few products as well:
-Inglot pomade 17
-Pixi setting mist
-Algenist luminizing drops in rose
-Essence metal shock in 1 second to mars
-Touch in sol no poreblem
-Too faces sculpting concealer in swan
-Stellar foundation in L02
-Stellar setting powder in haze mixed with the Hourglass powder (they were minis so i mixed)
I havent made much progress in my lipsticks or fenty products but im in no rush.
I also replaced the bronzer, blush and, highlight.
I picked the L'Oreal bronze please! bronzer, as well as my franken blush (ciate blush minis crushed into one) and my franken highlight (smashbox pearl palette smooshed)
Ive been enjoying playing around a lot.
And last but not least, my sweet peach palette! I have 5 pans now! Im over the moon about this and cant wait to love it some more!
With everything going on in the world right now i truly wish you all the best! Stay healthy and spend time with your loved ones (6 feet apart).
Happy panning!
Awesome work on using up so many beauties @PaulinaAP! 😍 Very impressive.
Mine is quite old (i bought it when it released) so my mattes are not as pigmented as they use to be so i have to build quite a bit and thats helping use it up
My March update:
Slow but steady on everything but the lipstick.
Killed the Fresh lip balm!
I hit pan on my eyeshadow single!
Weighted progress on other items:
| Beg. Wt (g) | Product | 2/3/20 Wt (g) | 3/5/20 Wt (g) | |
| 584 | Dr Teals Epsom Salt | 584 | 584 | |
| 16 | Bite Beauty Lipstick in Verbena | 16 | 16 | |
| 159 | Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo | 142 | 136 | |
| 63 | Mad Hippie Sunscreen | 61 | 60 | |
| 13 | Ulta Eyeshadow Primer | 12 | 12 | |
| 13 | Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol | 12 | 11 | |
| 15 | Drunk Elephant Umbra Sunscreen | 12 | 8 | empty! |
I was able to finish the lip balm and Drunk Elephant sunscreen mini. That made me feel good despite feeling sluggish and unmotivated due to the winter. I am taking a vacation this month, so I'm hoping that helps with progress.
My quest to hit 20 empties a month fell short again, but I improved from last month, YTD in parentheses.
5 FS (10), 5 DS (8), 4 foils (8), 2 declutters (4).
Yay for hitting pan on that single shadow. How exciting @snoflakefaerie! 😍 That candle is so pretty.
Wow, these are great products! I really like the BAREMINERALS - Lashtopia Volumizing Mascara. It's great for natural, defined lashes and I get no clumps with this mascara. <333
Blush Progress?
Feb 2020
Mar 2020
I didn't use it too much in February so I didn't expect much. I can't tell a difference. Who knows.
