*12/15/19 - The 2020 thread is now live: Pan It! - 2020 Challenge!
๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ Hi All!
Can y'all believe 2019 is literally knocking on the door?? Given its proximity it's high time we get the 2019 Panning Challenge Rolling.
The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started (please share the following)
Please Use This Thread To...
Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:
Past Panning Challenges:
May pan be ever in your favor!
@ElleElleG ahhh right! Itโs so hard to stop once you start picking up palettes with all the new releases ๐ฐ I definitely have ones I have barely touched. Im so tempted by all the newness
It's the same for me @cianni! I've been doing enough shopping this year to make Rouge at Sephora AND Diamond at Ulta!! That means I need to enjoy my beauty bounty in 2019.
Yes @sephoraaddict918 itโs gonna be fun!! I think Iโm also gonna have an unofficial challenge to myself to find new ways to use some of my less conventional highlighters ๐
Kicking things off with a request....Help me decide what to select for my year long project.
I've narrowed it down to these three palettes from oldest to newest additions in my collection
Lorac Mega Pro 3
ABH Master Palette by Mario
ABH Modern Renaissance
Of the three I gravitate towards the Lorac the least; many of the lighter shimmers look the same on the lid and there are quite a few shades I will likely never reach for. The Master Palette ranks as one of my all time favorite. Part of me wants to hold on to if forever but I also don't want the shadows to go to waste. Modern Renaissance is nice but it's not a "necessary" palette in my collection. When I don't feel like selecting single matte shadows to travel with this is a perfect companion.
I'm addition to the long term project I aim to do another year of one month one palette so I can continue to get use out of other palettes......
Which palette would you recommend I choose and why ๐ค๐ง
LOL! @angelKiss24 the Lorac would mean going WAY big
More good points @KeriCherryDee ! Yall are making this hard, LOL. I like the idea of picking a shade to incorporate into a each look for the week, hmmm.
Also, so true that there will always be something else to like. If I keep minimizing my use of things I love they'll end up old and unused regardless.
i'm going to say lorac 3...if you don't gravitate towards it naturally putting it in a project pay help you use it up. plus you're doing one month one palette so you'll have options!
Good points @sparklekai My hesitation with the Lorac is that 1) I know I won't try to finish each and every shade (which isn't a big deal since this challenge is about panning in whatever way fits us best) but also 2) getting frustrated that I don't finish it entirely, LOL
Thanks!!
Wow! @ElleElleG, you've already dented so many shadows in those palettes. I love the ABH Mario palette and wish they would bring it back! I would say aim big and go for the Lorac, it looks like more than half has dented in already ๐
-Helen
OMG @HelenBT I feel like we need to start a petition or something to get them to bring it back ๐ค
Ahh it looks like people are split between the Mario and Lorac ๐; thanks for your input!!
@dennisselisseth I feel like I don't have to think when I use it, which I love. It makes rushing out of the door in the morning that much easier
@ElleElleG The Mario Palette looks beautiful. I had never seen it before.
I think you should continue with that.
You hadn't seen it @naturalooks15 ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฒ. I want to say this came out when Modern Renaissance did but that one got the majority of the hype (I managed to avoid picking that one up for a year post release).
Anyway, thanks for your input!!
@ElleElleG I wasnโt into palettes up until 2 months ago and bought my very first palette (Soft Glam) in one of the recent sales so I donโt think I was paying attention earlier. I used to just hang out in skincare or dry skin groups I think (that too just reading, barely posting ๐).
Realizing it was a good things that I wasnโt into palettes as itโs slippery slope. ๐ they are all so pretty, hard to resist. I bought many (by my standards) in last two months after that first Soft Glam.
ABH was a good place to start @naturalooks15 ! Ha, it's definitely a slippery slope. One thing that helps is look for people on social media who rearrange palettes and/or compare them to previously released palettes. Many look nice on their own but when rearranged or beside other palettes they can lose their appeal.
With the number you have now you have a great opportunity to figure out what formula(s) you prefer before spending unnecessary money.
@ellelleg Keep going on Mario! You were enjoying it at least for a while, it travels well, and it's pretty flexible as far as creating looks.
@fieldsofclover but I love him (the palette, don't know the man ๐). Good points BUT isn't that a good reason to not use focus on it since I'll use it anyway? ....
@ElleElleGDoooooo eeeeet ๐
It's older than your Modern Ren. How terrible would it be if the formula went south while you were off working on the newer palette? ๐
