Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!

**11/30/18: The 2019 Challenge Thread is now live:

Pan It! - 2019 Challenge!

Updated 10/13/18: "

It's an all out panning blitz, aka USE IT ALL UP!  Finish up those lingering products, hit as much pan as you can, and declutter those things you simply aren't in to.  As @sparklekai noted, we need a fresh start to 2019.

Updated 8/2/18: Ten by 10/10 Challenge

Spoiler
We're more than half way done with 2018 which means it's time to reinvigorate our motivation to pan.  The rules are simple, pick 10 things that you would like to finish and let us know what they are (photos welcome). Remember this is about you and your collection. Pick what works for you and know that there are no right or wrong choices!

Updated 5/31/18: New Mini Challenge

Spoiler

FOUR by July 4th Challenge:

We're adding a mini challenge to the mix.  Check your stash and pick at least 4 items that you would like to complete by July 4th.  Any product goes and you are more than welcome to pick items in your respective Project Pan.  This is a good chance to finish products that have lingered in your collection and it should provide some motivation to persist with other panning projects.  Let us know which items you aim to finish by July 4th and of course provide photos if possible.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey Everyone! As promised, here is our 2018 Panning Challenge Thread.  To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections.  For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
I will be adding information from the 2017 thread over the next few days but to get us started please share the following:
  • Which item(s) you would like to work on
  • How long you will work on said item
  • Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
  • Starting photo of item
Please use this thread to:
  • share what item(s) you are working on,
  • provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
  • ask questions,
  • encourage others,
  • motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)
Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Spoiler
  • Take photos!!  When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes 😃
  • If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
  • Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
  • Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
  • Have shadows with a ton of fall out?  Use water
  • Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs.  We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
  • Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.  It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
  • Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a committment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!  Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.  Move on to something else!  (This includes excluding particilar shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)
Need some ideas to help you along the way?  Here are a few:
Spoiler
  • Pan a look:  At the beginning of the week pick a look that you can wear everyday Recreate a look worn by a fellow BICer, celebrity, etc.
  • Spice up an “everyday” look by throwing a different color in your crease or on your lower lash line
  • Roll the dice: pick 2-3 of your most underused shades in your palette and create a look.
Happy Panning!
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
@SpaceLlama Thank you! In trying new things I have found colors I really like, that normally wouldn't have been touched at all.
@Samtian, that is a great action plan!
Re: @Samtian, that is a great action plan!
@Luvstravel Thank you!
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
@Samtian love your idea about using every pan once. I have a few in my ND Green Brown 28 that need some attention. I may need to work this in to my own plans!
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
@eshoe Hopefully you'll end up finding colors you like as well!
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
I actually just tried 3 of them together that I don’t normally use, and I was surprised at how wearable they are @Samtian. Thank you for inspiring me to broaden my panning horizons;)
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
@eshoe Yay! Happy to hear!
RE: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
Getting to the point again where I’ve got a ton of mostly full deluxe-size and full-size products to slowly but surely work on. Being in retail it’s also now the busiest season of my life and I haven’t been as diligent on emptying things, but oh well! November 2018 Empties: -destashed (sprayer broke, probably 40% full): Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray 118 ml/4 fl oz -Crabtree & Evelyn Verbena and Lavender shampoo x3 24 ml/0.8 fl oz -Crabtree & Evelyn Verbena and Lavender conditioner x3 24 ml/0.8 fl oz -Yes To Blueberries Facial Cleansing Wipes 30 count -Peter Thomas Roth Massaging Bar for Bath 35g/1.23 oz
Re: RE: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
@KeriCherryDee bummer the sprayer broke on your UD! I know you’ve already de-stashed this one, but if it happens again maybe you could pour it into a travel sized spray bottle🤔. I’ve had enough products go faulty on me that I save bottles/sprayers that I’ve cleaned in case something like that happens. Just a thought!
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
The 2019 thread is now up!!
Pan It! - 2019 Challenge!
RE: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
I never posted my updates from the October challenge butttt of my 10 I’m only working on 4 more 😩🤪 as for my annual panning projects in the second photo I’m focusing on the palette circled and doing as much as I can with it (hence my goal of eye shadow everyday I leave the house til the end of the year lol cross reference from “what are you wearing today”) the remaining 4 palettes I’ve decided will be my January focus instead and then whatever isn’t used is decluttered🤶🏼❤️💚🔜🎉 I will update soon on the rest of my current panning projects for the end of year dash!
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
I'm on track to hit 365 empties this year, which is kind of cool... I'm trying to treat panning projects separately though. I've wrapped up my formal projects and now I'm just coasting until the end of the year, so here's a preview of my 19 for 2019:IMG_20181125_155955.jpg
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
This picture makes me happy.
Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
My one hit wonders update this week, I took some with me to try during camping but when it came down to it. I wasn't in the mood to try new things in the great outdoors. Both sheet masks I only had one of, so I kept them in the pic. Liked the ole h. cleanser enough to order a mini when they have another promo I'm interested in. No dislikes😊. Next week will most likely have some though. 😐
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
No!!! The day after the sale ended.Tatcha Silk Canvas, after maybe 5 months daily use.Tatcha Silk Canvas, after maybe 5 months daily use.
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
@eshoe Oh no!! I’ve had mine for 4 months now and have only made a dent of about 20% on it with daily use. I’ll take a pic later tonight to show you. I imagine it’s going to take me until the next sale to finish it off 😬
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
It took me totally off guard, @gonerogue! There’s plenty of life left in it, I just never thought I would hit pan in this one in less than a year. Guess I know what will be first on my spring list of things to buy😉
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
@eshoe, I've hit pan on mine awhile ago and am so sad! That is one of my favorite primers, totally worth it! 🙂
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
Are you still working on the same one, @HelenBT? I know there is plenty of product in my pan remaining, maybe it will last 4-5 more months...just wasn't expecting it!
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
@eshoe I am! I stopped using the pick that came with it though and just started to use my finger now. I have about half left and use it everyday!
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
I gathered together 21 items today that I am hoping to finish or make a decent attempt to put a dent in by the New Year.90FC1086-B6B6-4D9E-837A-28B198F6F558.jpeg
Spoiler
I forgot about my Inglot until I saw @RGbrown’s post the other day in which she had this lime-peridot shimmer on her lids. I love the green I have, and I think it’s close enough. I just want to make a decent effort working with it instead of neglecting it!
The MAC Prep + Prime was part of the 10 by 10/10 challenge but it’s taking me a lot longer than I thought to finish it. I have just less than 1/4 of it left. Same with the Herbivore Coco Rose balm. The boscia cactus gel cream may be decluttered, I’ve tried it once so far and it left my skin extremely sticky and caused terrible pilling under makeup.
I’m interested in finding a full coverage foundation, which is why I’ve included these samples. Tried the Huda Beauty today with the enclosed primer, not sure I need coverage this intense-I look like I’m ready to go on Broadway😂 This would be fabulous for a night out, I want to try it over a couple of different primers to see if that helps it look a bit more natural.
