Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!

**11/30/18: The 2019 Challenge Thread is now live:

Pan It! - 2019 Challenge!

Updated 10/13/18: "

It's an all out panning blitz, aka USE IT ALL UP!  Finish up those lingering products, hit as much pan as you can, and declutter those things you simply aren't in to.  As @sparklekai noted, we need a fresh start to 2019.

Updated 8/2/18: Ten by 10/10 Challenge

Spoiler
We're more than half way done with 2018 which means it's time to reinvigorate our motivation to pan.  The rules are simple, pick 10 things that you would like to finish and let us know what they are (photos welcome). Remember this is about you and your collection. Pick what works for you and know that there are no right or wrong choices!

Updated 5/31/18: New Mini Challenge

Spoiler

FOUR by July 4th Challenge:

We're adding a mini challenge to the mix.  Check your stash and pick at least 4 items that you would like to complete by July 4th.  Any product goes and you are more than welcome to pick items in your respective Project Pan.  This is a good chance to finish products that have lingered in your collection and it should provide some motivation to persist with other panning projects.  Let us know which items you aim to finish by July 4th and of course provide photos if possible.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey Everyone! As promised, here is our 2018 Panning Challenge Thread.  To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections.  For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
I will be adding information from the 2017 thread over the next few days but to get us started please share the following:
  • Which item(s) you would like to work on
  • How long you will work on said item
  • Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
  • Starting photo of item
Please use this thread to:
  • share what item(s) you are working on,
  • provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
  • ask questions,
  • encourage others,
  • motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)
Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Spoiler
  • Take photos!!  When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes 😃
  • If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
  • Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
  • Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
  • Have shadows with a ton of fall out?  Use water
  • Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs.  We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
  • Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.  It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
  • Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a committment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!  Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.  Move on to something else!  (This includes excluding particilar shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)
Need some ideas to help you along the way?  Here are a few:
Spoiler
  • Pan a look:  At the beginning of the week pick a look that you can wear everyday Recreate a look worn by a fellow BICer, celebrity, etc.
  • Spice up an “everyday” look by throwing a different color in your crease or on your lower lash line
  • Roll the dice: pick 2-3 of your most underused shades in your palette and create a look.
Happy Panning!
Don’t worry, @Anonymous-I did two major declutters before discovering this thread. No pics. The important thing is that you did it👍🏼😉
So I decided to take a picture of all the products I've used up this year. Theres for sure some missing that I've thrown out but this is what I've remembered to keep. Ive been really discouraged with my project pan and felt like i haven't finished much but apparently I've done a descent job. I cant wait to see what more i can finish up by the end of the year 🙂
RE: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
A few things this month, and a big destash as i continue getting my skin under control. I’d say my Wake Me Up When September Pans was mostly successful. I didn’t get around to some things (like nail polish, I’m still working on getting my nails to grow back) but i finished my skin cleanser (FINALLY), got through quite a few hair items, finished lots of samples, panned two deluxe lipsticks (i consider lipstick panned when i can feel my lip scraping on the plastic rim of the tube), and I’m confident i can get through quite a bit in October! September 2018 Empties: -Benefit Brow Contour Pro in Brown Light 4x0.1 g/4x0.003 oz (don’t waste your $34 on this, it barely lasted one month) -Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme in 246 Slow Burn (1.7 g/0.05 oz) -BIG lip destash (all are 1+ years old and I’m not sure which is the culprit causing my recent edge-of-mouth zits but this seems to happen when I use these liquids and balms): Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lovesick (3 ml/0.1 fl oz), Sephora Cream Lip Stain in 05 Infinite Rose (5 ml/0.169 fl oz), Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick in Trivial (5.3 ml/0.17 oz), Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Rose and in Hibiscus (2x4.25 g/0.15 oz) -MineralFusion Waterstone Body Lotion 27 ml/0.9 fl oz -Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer foil 1.5 ml/0.05 fl oz -Rituals It’s A Wrap Cherry Blossom & Rice Milk Conditioner 25 ml/0.85 fl oz -Garnier SkinActive The Gentle Sulfate-free Cleanser 400 ml/13.5 fl oz -Peter Thomas Roth Massaging Bar for Bath 35 g/1.23 oz
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
Finally I hit the pan on something. It hasn’t happened for years. It is UD Naked skin Ultra Defination Finishing Powder and I often use it on its own without any other base product. It has slightest hint of colour so it gives my skin a neat look even when I’m not wearing any other makeup. I don’t see it available at Sephora any more but it still shows on UD website so I hope they aren’t going to discontinue it like they did the loose powder version.
Progress is slowly but surely.
Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
I haven't posted an update since the beginning of my 10x10 but I've have progress!!! I somehow timed it so 4 of these 6 ran out in the past 2 days. 🙌 The elf lip scrub is taking longer then I thought it would but should finish it by the end of October. I'm giving the 2 DS mascaras and stila eye liner a few more days. I dropped the Nars DS lipstick from my challenge because I lost it for a while. It's so satisfying to see these empy!
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
@Lazybeautybeast my Burt’s Bees Cleansing oil is in the challenge too😆 though I won’t finish it I overestimated how much I use. Are you repurchasing? Also-how long did the ABH Brow Wiz last you?
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
I'm not repurchasing the Burt's Bees... for now at least. I think it did a decent job but I have so many cleansing balms, micellar waters, and wipes that I want to get through before I add this back to my collection.
The Brow Wiz... I'd say it lasted me 7ish months of semi-regular use (brows are the one thing I skip if I'm short on time). That shade (Auburn) was too red for me so only used it to lightly fill and then went in with a gel or a powder to adjust the color. I have another one that I'll switch to now that this one it gone that I think is a better match.
another one down, already bought another one....I like the way they clean, smell, feel on my face, but I can't use them on my eyes.😐 5 down, 5 to go.
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
@sonnydee I was so sad these irritated my eyes, I loved them otherwise 😖
I debated @ElleElleG getting them again but I love them to take to the gym to wipe my face, chest, back down after a workout. they're so compact & refreshing. they irritated my eyes just enough that I was like 'huh? did I feel that?'😕 I hope the others don't irritate me.
Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
onyx professional polish remover oh. how I loathe thee. Seriously, I begged my mini to help me finish. She found out quickly why I wanted to get rid of it. grateful for this 10 by 10/10 challenge. 4 down: Buxom, UD,loccitane, onyx, 6 to go.
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
Update on everything so far:
IMG_1478.jpgIMG_0793.jpgIMG_1479.jpgIMG_1480.jpgIMG_1481.jpgEarlier this monthEarlier this month
Spoiler
I thought I would have hit pan by now on the second tarte (middle row first on left). Pleased with the progress on the jars, might finish all of them! I way overestimated on the BB Oil Cleanser and Mac Prep, won't finish those but I am totally ok with that as I use them regularly and am happy to know they last longer than I anticipated. Might not finish the UD liner, I've been playing around with other colors so haven't been using it as often. The Farmacy serum is still hovering around 102 ml so not making any big progress there.
I finished the stila Huge Mascara, it was great for 'no makeup' days and I would definitely purchase a FS. So far I have finished 7 items out of 20, so maybe I will  hit 10, which would be just about right.
Great job, @eshoe!
Great job, @eshoe! The Tarte palette is disappearing nicely.
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
Great progress on all your items @eshoe! I have the Tarte palette too and I use the shades Rocket, Sweetheart, and the gold one (forgot the name) the most. This reminds me I should use the other colours more often!
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
I really love these colors, @Guessgal-Rocket is great for the crease. Just wish there wasn’t so much powder everywhere 😆
Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
I hit pan! My goal in my 10 by 10/10 was to hit pan in at least one of the 2 eyeshadow palettes. So I'm happy! I'm still going to make it grow of course! 3 down: UD,loccitane, & buxom 7 to go. Good luck panning guys!
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
Awesome!  Congratulations  on hitting pan! @sonnydee
Thanks @curlychiquita
Re: Pan It! - 2018 Challenge!
🎉🎉 congrats @sonnydee, seeing that first bit of pan is the most exciting!!!
